I won! I beat the bank! And mercifully I received the settlement letter three days before the new court action began so the offer will be honoured!
Amount claimed: Just under £3,000
Amount received: £2,441. A little less than claimed but I don't think that such an amount is worth risking in the long term.
Well done Martin and all the money saving experts out there, your correspondence kept me going!0 -
LloydsTSB
Amount Claimed : £3225
Amount Paid : £3525 :j:j
I have been savouring this day since January this year and now it has arrived. I was due to go to court on the 10th August with my claim, by chance I checked my bank account online and there was the amount I had claimed for, PLUS INTEREST!!! "Whoomph There It Is" Just like AnthD1975 no nothing but I got a letter from their solicitors this morning telling me " it's not to be treated in any way as an admission of liability" yeah right. Anyway I just want to thank you for all the advice and support from yourself and all other claimants, successful or otherwise, with the money safely transferred to my wife's bank account I will be having a few beers to celebrate and look forward to having a conservatory built with the proceeds. I may call it "Chez Martin".
Thanks Martin. [/quote]0 -

I received a letter from FOS on tuesday with an offer from Lloyds. Yah its all I asked for 1,336. Sent the form back same day and am now waiting for the money. Also had a phone call from Lloyds same day to say they'd rececived an email regarding my charges I told them that i'd set it ages ago and I'd now had the offer letter and would be accepting. They told me there is a backlog at FOS and when they the bank receive the acceptance I will get the money 28 days from then. So just got to play the waiting game now.0

Bank: Nat West
Amount Claim: £7,218
Offered / Accepted: £5,208
What can I say, after all the press thought I'd give it a shot. Got the statements from Nat West and had a shock finding out that over a certain 12 month period the bank was charging me an average £250 per month, no wonder I was always broke, they were causing it!
Put the claim in and waited, was a bit concerned with all the OFT case etc., but got a letter yesterday offering £5,208. Signed and sent back today., just waiting for Nat West to credit my account now...well happy!!0 -
:T Hi there just to let everyone know that as from today, Me and my partner have successfully reclaimed our bank charges with Halifax Plc and its great!! After pursueing it since february of this year we have got them back, - THE FULL AMOUNT plus the court charges which was £120.00. Its amazing!! Thats my own personal bank charges which was £1553.17 but received back £905.43 and decided to take it at a loss of £246.24, and now with the bank from both our joint account £1505.85. I would say to anyone keep on at the banks and as martin says to keep on persuing the banks and you will get them back.
Thanks for all your help Martin, I'm so glad there is people like you out there that can help so many people with these problems!!

Bank: Halifax
Amount Reclaimed: £1974.86
Amount they paid: £2094.86
I started the process of reclaiming bank charges after reading an article in the Independent newspaper. My total charges came to £1646.00 plus calculated interest of £328.86, so I asked to be refunded £1974.86. The Halifax flatly refused any refund, stating that I had agreed to the fees when I signed the agreement for my current account. I threatened court action, giving the Halifax fourteen days to respond, then when they did not reply within the stipulated timescale I started County Court action, which was surprisingly easy to do online and had a £120 fee. The Halifax disputed my claim, so I expected to have to go to court, then I saw Channel 4 news on Thursday the 26th July about the OFT court action and I lost all hope of any kind of settlement for months or even years to come. Imagine my amazement when I received a letter from the Halifax four days later informing me that the full amount claimed, plus the £120 court fee, would be refunded to my account within five days. Amazingly the letter was dated the 26th July, the same day the OFT had started proceedings against the banks, which made me think that the refund would not be made and the Halifax would hold out until after the court decision .. then today, the 1st August, £2094.86 has been paid into my account.
I have used MoneySavingExpert for guidance throughout, as well as the relevant letter templates, and I must give a big 'thank you' to Martin for setting up the site which helped me through it!0 -
Bank - Lloyds TSB
Claim - £465.73
Paid - £465.73
Thanks to Martin & all the MSE regulars for your advice and supportive workd. I began this process in March 07. Followed the 'process' to the letter. Lodged a claim at the Sheriff court in May, with a date being set yesterday.
Got a letter from Lloyds, usual no admission of liability etc, paying the entire claim inc court fees and additional interest.
Folks - dont give up! They will eventually fold.
Thanks everyone
