My current claim against the TSB is at the acknowledgment stage with money claim online.

With the recent announcement about the test case, and all claims being put on hold, I had all but given up on receiving anything in the near future.

HOWEVER, today I received a without prejudice letter from SCAM dated 24th July (Took a long time to reach me) offering me the FULL amount claimed plus interest, plus court fee. I rang them straight away and was told my offer still stands. What a relief - £1734 I didn't think I'd see again.:j

So, just to let others know they are still sending out settlement letters. Don't give up hope just yet!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all those who have posted on here - couldn't have done it without you. I hope every one of you get the money back you deserve.

Finally, MARTIN - You are my HERO and I cannot thank you enough for bringing this to our attention. WELL DONE!!

My two letters from SCAM appeared this morning dated the same date 24th July, i immediatley rang teh office and told tehm we were accepting and i also signed them and faxed them back and the originals (witha copy kept for myself of course) are in the post tomorrow 1st Class recorded delivery, just to make sure - wonder if tehy will be so stupid as to pay the amount out 3 times (LOL) I think SCAM is an apt name for a banks solicitors - well the banks have been scamming us for years. Just waiting for the £1279.15p to appear in the account and its goodbye to some debts.

  • who: Halifax
amount claimed: £2475 + £785 interest + £60 court fees on one account
    £445 + £198 interest + £60 court fees on second account

    amount paid - the lot!:rotfl:

was amazed especially after hearing the latest news - but halifax paid first lot in my bank account friday - and i received the letters monday! - 2nd account still to be credited

story - they kept refusing - i went through the whole process - even received a letter to say they were putting in a defence - then out of the blue they paid up! said it wasn't worth the cost to fight it!

i'm extremely pleased! but puzzled given the news that all cases were being put on hold - was i just lucky with the timing or have others experienced the same.:j

Anyhow a very big thank you for the advice on here and particularly the success stories - they inspired me to keep going despite the banks attitude!:T

good luck to you all still fighting
  • Keep trying, my partner thought it was all over and she had just missed out because of the high court stuff going on, but she went to court today for £900 from HSBC and won, they didnt even defend the claim or turn up.

We have been doing this since February and finnaly they have sent THE letter!!! No money yet but... the offer came for the full amount of charges with the basic interest as per the calculator, didn't claim the daily interest. We had adate of next Tuesday to go to court for a prelim hearing, so Hubby tried to ring yesterday am to see if could sort it out but couldn't get through. Then not 10 minutes later the postman came with a letter from Birmingham!!!!! We jumped for joy!! Sent the letter back special delivery saying yes we accept their offer!! But the tone of the letter was quite threatening! But here's hoping!! Does anyone know if they just put it in the bank or send a cheque?/ It will pay the remainder of the credit card bill and we have enough left over to buy a new tent with a sewn in ground sheet so slugs can't get in like last week!!!

So keep your chins up you should win too!!

    Bank: HSBC
Amount claimed: £1800 (inc interest) (approx)
Amount settled: £1700 (or £1400 minus the £300 or so she was overdrawn due to recurring bank charges after she moved to Lloyds which takes the p.s a little bit)

As my mum had no internet connection and I had no printer I wrote the letters by hand for her, all she had to do was sign. The letters were 99% based on the templates here. I and indeed my mother were sceptical when we first first heard about claiming bank charges back about 5 months ago as it seemed to be one of those too good to be true things you always hear about, but after research I though it would be worth giving it a go and she agreed.

She sent the letters and after 16 days received a reply saying they were looking into it. The second more threatening letter was then sent and a couple of days before we were going to go through the process of beginning a court case (about 20 days later) they offered the above amount, an amount that was fair as I fully believe the bank should still be able to cover their actual costs. Well, fair until I go back to the point about her being overdrawn by about £300, all bank charges apart from the initial £35 she was overdrawn when she tried to close the account. Seems a bit cheeky to swallow back £300 from a settlement over charges, in charges, but there you go.....

Very happy with the outcome, very lucky it got in just in time to beat the recent "waiver", bit annoying though as I had only just sent a letter about claiming my charges back.

The highlight was the letter they wrote with the offer though, no acceptance of wrong doing in it all. Clearly the £900mil they've paid out so far is all good will

Anyway, massive thank you to that Martin bloke who runs this fantastic site, very helpful information.

Good luck to anyone involved in claims at the moment, I really hope the up and coming court cases prove to be a victory to the consumer for once.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
    Bank: Lloyds TSB
    Amount Claimed: £839.20
    Amount Settled: £839.20

Followed Martins recommended procedure to the letter. I Went through MCOL, LTSB didn't acknowldege, got judgement and suddenly on 26 July - ON DAY OF ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUSPENSION OF CASES - full amount including interest.

Letter yesterday from SC&M full settlement end of case.

Can't believe this happened on the 26th, seemed I just got in under the wire or maybe banks are trying to clear up some mess before the trial cases got through?

Thanks Martin and all on here Especially Edinlass for keeping all the info clear. :T

Hoping you all end up as satisfied with your outcome.

Hi All, i know i posted in this thread yesterday and some where awaiting on the outcome of my preliminary hearing. I had my hearing this morning against A&L, the bank did not turn up to defend and the judge was lovely, he even worked out extra interest i was entitled to as i had only calculated up until the date i filed my claim in April. He ordered that A& L should pay me the full sum within 14 days. The judge was lovely, i was nervous about any questions he may ask as i didn't know what to expect, but i didn't have to answer anything, i don't think he was too happy at the bank wasting his time. He did ask though if i had been in touch with a&L and i told him i had tried to negotiate with their solicitors but they told my their client did not wish to settle.Don't give up and let recent media cover put you off, i was so nervous last night and this morning but it was all worth it in the end, (well i will be waiting to get that cheque before i really celebrate - they have 14 days in which to pay my the full amount claimed, which is just short of £3.5k)Thanks for all the support on this site xx
  • :rotfl: HALIFAX
    CLAIMED £1013 PLUS INTEREST.

After several letters to the Halifax, several of which were ignored and finally a letter saying their charges were legal I decided to take your advice and go to the ombudsman. After a letter from the Ombudsman the Halifax deciaded they would rather pay the £1013 than be investigated further. I finally received a letter today saying this money would be in my account in the next fewdays.:T :rotfl: :rotfl:
