Put a tea bag in it then - liquid is liquid - it's a fallacy that it has to be plain water! ;)

Really? Is that true? I drink my tea black, and have cups and cups all day long. I thought that was cheating? Oh joy, please say you're not fibbing and the tea counts? :j

It's just water Frogga - so whether it's on the outside (cycling) or inside (drinking) it's doing you good :p Anything you could add to the water (other than whisky) that would make you drink it?

    xx

How can you be called Frogga and not like water. :rotfl: that's just a joke. Just playing

I don't like it either can't stand it only way I can drink it is with ocean spray cranberry cordial I know it's not syn free but makes it easier or some dandelion tea

But I do sympathise Frogga I can't stand it yet where you love tea I could drink coffee til it came out my ears

Well call me weird, but we all live in a pond, wash and wee in water, so forgive me for not wanting to drink the stuff unless it's been boiled

Does tea or coffee count towards your 8 glasses a day?
Some of the confusion has stemmed from the fact that many commonly consumed beverages contain caffeine, which is considered to be a diuretic. The thinking goes like this: if caffeine makes you urinate, then a caffeinated drink will surely cause you to lose more water than you take in, so a caffeinated drink can’t really be a fluid – maybe it’s more like a ‘negative fluid’.
Well, here’s the good news for coffee and tea lovers – it turns out that, for the most part, this simply isn’t true. A review¹on the topic, which summarized numerous studies on the subject conducted over nearly 40 years, reported that taking in a large amount of caffeine at one time (around 300 mg, or what you’d get in 2-3 cups of strong coffee – and not an amount you’d drink all at once) can promote urination, but only in people who haven’t had any caffeine for weeks. And those who are habitual caffeine consumers develop a tolerance to the diuretic effects – much like they develop a tolerance to the stimulating effects. The report also stated that “doses of caffeine equivalent to the amount normally found in standard servings of tea, coffee and carbonated soft drinks appear to have no diuretic action”. So there you go; caffeinated beverages definitely “count” when it comes to meeting fluid needs.
Actually, all beverages can contribute to your fluid requirement – like coffee, tea, fruit juice, broth, vegetable juice, sports drinks and low fat milk – since they’re primarily water. So if, like my client, you just can’t face drinking water, these “water alternatives” still count.

    EE today

    B: 2 w/meal toast (HEB) and 2 eggs
    S: Banana
    L: Pasta pomodoro. 8 olives (1 syn) 2 slices prosciutto (1 syn)
S: a whole punnet of cherries. I'm not proud but they're so yummy I couldn't stop!
T: Chicken fajitas on lettuce, sweet potato wedges, grilled peppers, onions and chilli, HM guacamole (7 syns- avocado shouldn't be this high!!!)
    D: Almond & amaretti terrine (3.5 syns)

    Syns: 12.5
Drinks: water, herbal tea, s/f cordial.
    Exercise: Cardio power & resistance.

It's been useful reading people's stories about their weight issues. I started to gain after my Dad died when I was 14. I just comfort ate and we had a pretty bad spell as a family where everyone seemed to die, my family and deaths are like buses! I got married last year and lost about 3 stone but it's come straight back on when we found out we had to have IVF. I think part of this recent gain has been down to just not appreciating the fact that if we're to have IVF I have to have a BMI of less than 29. It made me angry seeing larger women than me pregnant (not larger through pregnancy- getting pregnant at a higher weight) so it was just a massive f-u to the doctors and also myself, I don't particularly want to go through IVF but hey-ho. At least now I'm getting myself back on track though annoyingly insanity seems to be slowing my weight loss drastically...

Hi there, did you see my post a few pages back. I did Insanity last year and it does affect the scales in a way you'll think is negative but it will totally change your body shape, have you taken your measurements? I wish I had as although I didn't lose much weight (I continued to eat and drink a lot lol) I definitely changed my body shape. It's gone back to normal now so I think I need to dig out the dvds again and try it with healthy eating. Motivation has gone but reading your posts is making me want to start again. I'm full of big intentions sitting in my jammies with a coffee lol

Fantastic news on the tea front
Thanks for that Catt, you made my day/night/week/year :j

Teaandcake ~ you are another poster who made me look at myself and my excuses and think. I'm so sorry to hear that you lost your Dad. Such a dreadful thing to happen to such a young person. I don't know how any body ever get's over things like that. I'd guess you don't. I'd guess you just learn to live with it. I wish you all the very best. I hope your IVF dreams come true.

    Night night all xxxx

I did see it but completely forgot to respond as I've got a brain like a sieve! I'm going to give it until after week 5 (the 'rest' week) to see if the numbers start coming down. I'm not eating loads more than usual- exercise makes my appetite hit the floor but the scales are not being nice at all. Since starting it I've gained 2 pounds. I *HAVE* to lose at least 8 pounds (and ideally a little bit extra to account for different scales) before I can start IVF, which will hopefully be in the next two months, so even though I'm seeing differences in my measurements and am toning up it's not good enough for the clinic as I have to be BMI 29 or less. It's so frustrating. I want to get fit and healthy and love the insanity exercises as I see the differences and they keep me motivated (mainly by ogling Shaun T and hating Tanya the machine... :)) I also want to do this so *if* I ever do get pregnant my body is healthy. I've tried so many other exercise routines/ classes/ sports etc but they just bore me. Dilemma! :rotfl:

Thanks for the good wishes frogga. My reasons for gaining weight don't have any more validity than yours though. Weight problems are hideous- regardless of what has brought them about. :)

WOW TIE I'm so sorry. Nothing that auful has happened to me. I need to get a grip. I'm ashamed of myself. You have every right to have difficulties with stuff. I do not. I so need to get over myself :A
Ok now I feel bad for making you feel bad, that so wasn't my intention. We all have our reasons for being overweight, you shouldn't feel ashamed because you feel your reason isn't as deserving of sympathy as the next persons. Please, please don't feel ashamed :A
So sorry for your loss TIE, puts everything into perspective when you hear what others have been through. Sending you big hugs. If you ever manage to match your portions to your fullness meter can you let me know how cause I've never sussed it. I can keep eating even when stuffed. Can't remember the last time I left something on my plate. Maybe we should make a point of ALWAYS leaving something?
I was brought up to not leave food on my plate and now trying to be MSE makes it even more so. Mind set of if I've cooked it I'm eating it. Same when I get take away or go for a meal - if I've paid for it I'm eating it :rotfl: even if my tummy says there's no more room :o

This was me 30 years ago (god that makes me feel old), had normal pregnancy/delivery (ish on the delivery) got an infection which led to infertility. Went through 10 years of waiting lists, tests & ops before being offered IVF. Went on list (another year waiting) only to get a letter just as years up to say programme had been cancelled. Another letter saying 100 women on the list would get 3 attempts on NHS at Borne Hall. Long and short of it all, worked first time for me. Had 3 eggs put back, 2 took then miscarried one and ended up with perfect pregnancy and easy delivery of healthy baby boy. Now a strapping 19yr old.
It wasn't easy, I too had to lose weight but to be honest I didn't lose more than 10lbs so still lardy but still it worked. All I'm saying is there is hope and I wish you all the luck In the world :A:A

    Sorry for the essay :o
Its not what you do but the way that you do it, thats what get results :T
