Blodwen - I need you!!! I also need my wardrobe/drawers sorted out, plus my spare room & our 'family room' which I'm trying to rurn into a playroom for DD. We moved in 2 years ago & my spare room is still full of boxes & 'stuff' I just don't know what to do with :( I'm too mean to throw or charity shop stuff, lol - I feel it's a waste of money.

I'd advise against keeping any 'fat' clothes. I did that last time & found it too easy to get back into them! This time EVERYTHING will go & then as soon as I put on a lb too many I'll have to get back on the wagon pronto-ish!

Not feeling 'in the zone' this week at all, though I thought I would when I returned from holiday. I'm so tired all the time I don't know what's wrong with me. Tiredness = needing sugar wich is why I'm still bloody picking at the biscuits  My meals have been ok, but I've been putting things in my mouth inbetween that I've hardly realised! Frogga - I think I need your woman! I've tried hypnosis before which did sod all but I need help with a lot of issues really, just never sought help. I think I think too much, lol.

    Happy Friday everyone

    C xx

Haha, I have told OH we're doing his clothes next week, nothing I love more than chucking stuff, although I am a hoarder at heart so flit between the two- I think I have my dad's "this might come in handy one day" mindset :rotfl: I still have too many clothes but will have another purge in 6-12 months time. I have read a few blogs about decluttering but the whole 'if you haven't worn it for a year bin it' thing doesn't really apply when you've not worn something because it was too small and you're actually successfully losing weight. Saying that, at least 1 bag was of stuff that fits now but I realised it didn't look right or I only bought it because it fitted. It pained me to put a top I love in the charity bag but it is too short and no amount of weight loss will change that :(

Re. fat clothes - this morning I was fretting about getting rid of so many of them just in case, especially because i feel it is a waste of money, but last time I lost loads I got rid of them all and needed them again so am hanging onto a few purely for financial reasons, and also because if and when we have kids I'll need a few bigger things even if I don't put on much weight (which is what I'm hoping!). I did lose tons last time though to the point of being too skinny and then snapped and rebounded back spectacularly, so I think (hope!) any gain I might have this time will be minimal and better controlled. Just to add as well I got rid of most of my tiny clothes too a while ago, partly because seeing them was depressing but also because I don't want to go back there again either. Think of it like this- the money was spent (wasted if you like) when you bought the clothes, so now whether they sit in the wardrobe taking up space or someone else is wearing them, that won't change. I found the 3 links on here to be useful in thinking about the psychology rather than the practicality of it.

Skint Catt I agree with you on the clothes front get rid of all the fat clothes as otherwise they are a get out of jail card for want of a better expression

Frogga yes going to see someone on weight and why you(not you personally you everyone) overheats/binges is well worth it

I went to see someone a number of years ago and it does make a difference the friend of mine I told you has lost 6 stone but has at least another eight to go did as well (see someone) and as she said it definitely straightened some things out for her in terms of behaviours and why she does/feels the need to do things whether eating etc etc etc I think that's why this time she is so determined on it because she recognises her own behaviours in general better Does that make sense to anyone

Anyway Skint Catt you have a kiss from Frogga and a draw a line under it coming too If it helps fill in one of the SAS things just for pure check

Writing things down in anything makes huge difference it may not stop you having it but when you look back after you may say hmmmm or a stronger word if you were me :rotfl:

I also saw a couple of people both when I was really skinny (bordering on anorexic - more of the all or nothing thinking) and then when I started to regain. The first one was totally unsympathetic and actually said "well I can't wave a magic wand and make it all ok", well thanks, I wasn't asking you to! Needless to say I stopped seeing her! The second one, like with Frogga, basically told me to eat what I wanted but I took it as permission to constantly binge. I was very fragile back then and *think* I'm in a much better place now emotionally and regarding weight/body image but that obese or skeletal thing will always be with me and it'll be a constant battle to stay on the middle ground. I had a bit of a binge on Weds night and felt terrible about it but then fasted yesterday as usual and feel much better now, but need to make sure I'm not falling back into the mindset of 'I'll starve to make up for being 'bad' '. It's interesting to see how many of us have the same issues - I normally feel like a bit of a freak talking about things like this, but most of us are in a similar boat. The good news is we are doing the right thing being here and doing this, and it can and will get better! :)

I can't really identify with food problems as such as I've only been overweight once and SW is my one and only 'diet' BUT...I know for me a lot of it was about ignoring the downsides because I felt I 'deserved' the treats to compensate for other stresses in life. I, too, am a bit of a perfectionist and I just couldn't live with being fat. I kidded myself for a while that my weightgain wasn't obvious with careful dressing (smocky tops etc) but photos told me different. To me it shouts, lack of control and personal pride. If there's one thing I must have in my life it's being in control. I chose SW as it allowed a little bit of a compromise. I can eat healthily but allow myself some treats as long as I keep it in control.

Sorry for philosophical ramble, that's just my bit of self analysis over.:o

    Have a good weekend all.:)

I'm back :( After getting to target just before Christmas, I have slowly put weight on. I came back from holiday on Monday and I've put on more so I went straight back to plan and the lbs are coming off. I have put on nearly 2 stone which annoys me so much, I tried so hard to lose the weight last year and then I ruined it all.

Anyway I am well and truely back on plan, I am also running every day because I am doing my first 5k in October so hopefully that will help too.
Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j

Really interesting discussions on here this morning people

I throw away my 'fat clothes' as soon as I grow out of them.. Or rather, slim out of them :D

I'm a real 'fattist' and don't want them in my wardrobe! I also think if I don't then I'm accepting that I might need them again. Alright, I have had to buy 'fat clothes' loads of times as I have needed them again, but I don't want to admit that it will happen again

I think there are two types of fatties. Those, like Maman who wake up one morning and find they've accidently put on a little weight, and then sort it out. And those like me and a couple of the other headcases on here (you know who you are) who are mentalists. God I'm good. Who needs a head doctor when I've just summed us all up in one paragraph :T

I rebounded not only spectacularly but several times :/

First time I lost 3.5 stone to get down to a 12/14, then I put on 6.5 stone over the next 10 years to get to where I've started yet again. I'm not blaming anyone except me (but also thought it wasn't 'noticable' as I dressed cleverly - yeah right  ) but I can't understand why no-one close to me said anything. Ah well, you live & learn.

I will take a look at that How To Let Go website - looks like something I might enjoy (though I have a book called House Detox which I haven't had time to read yet!). I'd kill to be minimalist (something I'm aiming for but failing) but I just have SOOOO much carp that I can't get rid of. I seem to currently have an addiction to storage solutions.... :/ :rotfl:

    Hi All,

You guys are so inspiring, I too hope to make a change and start to lose some weight also :j. From the stresses of life in addition to over indulging and aging, I've kind let myself go and it is starting to show. Even if I don't reach my ultimate goal benchmark of desired weight loss, I hope to start to live a healthier lifestyle by incorporating more nutritional foods and lots of exercise. Just start to do what I already know is the right thing.

    I'm Currently overweight weighing 9.6 stones with a BMI = 25.4.
I think a reasonable target weight to aim to reach would be 9 stones/ 126lbs. I think mainly I'm feeling low about the pudge around my belly, thunder thighs, dinner lady arms and my ever enlarging bottom.

I'm also wondering whether you guys have any tips for maintaining breast size whilst losing weight. I think that has put me off trying for a while, since whenever I start my aerobics (Rosemary/Jillian), swimming/gyming and yoga regime the only place I lose fat is the only place I want to keep it i.e. in my breasts, so I'd really appreciate any of your recommendations.

    Thanks

    SW Start date (16/08/13) @ 134.4 lbs & BMI = 25.4
    Goal weight of 126lbs

    Hi Stph

OH and I go to a personal trainer only chance at all you have of getting me near a gym and two things she always says to us

You can't out train a bad diet and

You can't spot reduce in other words while you can work on certain body bits you cannot decide that that is where it will come off Now they are her words not mine

The one thing I always find is I put weight on lower body so thighs stomach butt and when I lose it I always lose first face arms chest etc

Usually I get so hacked off as I reckon I look bigger as the top is decreasing

You know those drawings kids do with a head on a triangle with 2 arms and legs :rotfl:

In all my friends areas where weight goes on first is always last place to go and vice versa not sure if any of you guys find the same

Steph - I have the opposite problem - whenever I lose weight my b00bs get bigger!! Seeing as I'm losing more than I've ever lost before, this time I'm terrified as I'm a 38E already! :rotfl:

Keep meaning to make speed soup. I think it'll be my first task once the weather turns cooler!
