Thanks Beanie for the vote of confidence in me, LOL! I didn't even manage to stick to what I planned yesterday completely - on top of everything I'd planned I had a chocolate covered, chocolate icecream lolly, which I don't even like normally  and that was a whopping 9 syns, so only 0.5 syns over the day so not so bad.

I'm having a Green day today so maybe will be a bit better!

B - egg, fried mushrooms, fried LO boiled pots
L - jacket potato, baked beans, 20g low fat cheese (0.5 HEA)
D - Lamb (HEB1) tagine (very spicy!), couscous
    S - Ryvita (HEB2) & cheese

Will snack on fruit and carrot sticks during the day.

    HEA1 - semi skimmed milk
    HEA2 - cheese
    HEB1 - lamb
    HEB2 - Ryvita

Only definite syns today will be 3.5 for a fruit split lolly.

Haven't actually much else in the house for syns at the moment so hopefully won't go overboard again today:rotfl:.

    Hello,

Don't be fooled, it's taken two years to build up to that cycling distance! 15 miles is pretty straight forward but the longer ride hurt a lot though dropping from 21st 7lbs to 20st 5lbs makes a big difference on the hills.

Good luck to all weighing in today!

Hahahaha I managed to get on bike & cycle for oh 150yards before giving up as it uncomfortable & I so unstable (balance not mental ... well .... :D) so yeah that didn't work lol :rotfl:

Haha, you should keep at it- when OH and I first got our bikes we were a bit wobbly (I hadn't ridden for about 4 years, he hadn't for about 15!) but a bit of practice makes it much easier! It's also easier and less uncomfortable the smaller you are so maybe have another go when you've lost a bit more. I normally do 4.5 miles each way on the (slightly hilly) commute but OH is away with the car at the weekend so I'm taking the opportunity to cycle to my brother's 15 miles away - it's pretty flat so should be ok, it's just over an hour of sitting might give a bit of bum ache despite the padded shorts! :(

SO I went to Aldi yesterday and I'm not entirly convinced

    <>

So I agree much cheaper than Sainsbugs at first glance. Somethings were definately cheaper; Corn on the cob, broc and cauli etc. Some things were a real bargin, like the 2 bags of sweets for 25p (not for me!) However, some things appeared cheaper but they were in much smaller bags. The raspberries and radishes for example, far fewer than in a punnet or bag at Sainsbugs. I looked at the cereal, although I didn't buy any, and it was in much smaller boxes.

I'm not sure if their own brands like the baked beans will be nice, I haven't tried them yet, but they weren't cheaper than Sainbugs economy range. I agree 49p for a bottle of coke is cheaper than Coca Cola, but not cheaper than economy cola which I'll happily drink. The white loaf is nothing special. A bit cheap and nasty like economy bread in sainbugs not as nice as Hovis or Kingsmill (I haven't tasted by the way, just doing Mr Frog's lunch!).

It was very very busy, and felt a bit like a market. The man at the checkout rushed through so quickly I had to move to the side to pack my bags, which I had to pay for! It was quite stressful and not a very nice experience, and I honestly don't think it was comparing like for like. The quality and value I felt is better in Sainsbugs.

Would be very interested to hear what everyone else thinks  but on reflection, as a creature of habit, it's not for me I don't think. Oh, and I couldn't use the credit card, and I like to save my Nectar points :D

I'll concede that it takes a bit of getting used to - OH is (I mean WAS ;) ) a soft southern Sains shopper and he whined and moaned his way around Aldi for months but has come round to it now. Once you know that you can't use credit cards, have to take you own bags, have the bags in the trolley ready to pack or else throw everything back in the trolley and repack at the counter then it's much easier and less stressful. I personally find that the quality of most stuff is just as good as the other supermarkets but depends what you get I suppose - we don't get the cheapest white bread because it's only for OH and he likes the slightly dearer one (they do also do hovis etc sometimes), but it's still cheaper than asda. I think of it in the same way as places like Poundland - some stuff is cheap but some isn't and if you don't do your homework you might end up overpaying. Your coke example is perfect- we do the same with fizzy water as Asda smartprice is about 17p whereas Aldi is dearer, so we stock up in Asda when we're there. A quick comparison between the Aldi website and Mysupermarket would help. Anyway, I probably sound like an advert for Aldi but it all depends on your priorities- a quick scan of prices you put below tell me you saved about £5, which for me would be enough of an incentive even if you weren't keen on the experience, but each to their own, you go where you're happiest :)

Plan to within an inch of your life. Always be organised and have plenty to eat in the house. Make up some free foods that you can have ready in the fridge to snack on.

When I'm tired, cold or hungover that's when I'm likely to break the diet as I can't be bothered making something from scratch.

Mainly try to stay focused and if you have a bad day just draw a line under it.

Was good enough yesterday and did my walk.

Today not feeling so good as really sore head and stomach cramps :(

    B: Muller & 2 Baby bel (HE)
    L: Mug Shot & Pineapple

D: TBC - Prob some sort of salad

Thanks for good wishes yesterday.:A We had a lovely day together. Food was off plan for most of it but that was yesterday and today is today.:)

:Ton your restraint on holiday MrO and good plans for 'special' airline food.

I'm hoping to be away for next few days visiting family. It all depends whether plumber finishes work on bathroom today. If it happens it'll be really flexi and then back with a vengeance next week. So all a bit limbo at the moment.

skintcatt, I had a look at tortilla wraps and the lowest own brand I can find is 6.5syns. That's Sainsbury's BGTY at 50g each or Tesco Everyday Value at 47g each. MrsJack some syn values are listed in the back of the books but the best advice is to either google or ask questions on here.

steph, I think the best advice I can give is do a meal plan for the week and then a shopping list to match. Remember to include snacks (yogurts, fruit, cold meats). Unless you have to for other family, try not to buy things that aren't SW friendly so they're not in the house to tempt you.

Frogga, I think your experience at Aldi is pretty typical to start with. I shop there regularly but don't buy many of the things you chose. From your list, all I would have bought would be the fruit and veg. What I do buy are loads of basics like rice, passata, spaghetti, eggs, milk. I'm confident they're better value than Sainsbury's basics. I'm used to the check-out set up so now I have my bags and trolley at the ready! I then move on to Sainsbury's for my bread and brands that I prefer plus I buy bits on offer at other shops too. I think it comes down to time and money. Someone asked how they can keep costs down when doing SW and shopping around is definitely the answer but not everyone has the time. Just realised that sounds incredibly preachy.:o what I'm trying to say is you can save if you have the time to be selective in what you buy from each shop.

Today I've had 2 boiled eggs and HEB toast. I have LO veg and cold meat to eat up in the fridge for lunch and SW Bolognese in freezer. Fairly boring day but playing safe in case I do go away tomorrow.
