narrowed it down to either an acer iconia or a samsung galaxy tab 2.
but my OH has a large collection of cd's and dvd's.
can these be put onto the tablet using the correct softwear?
My issues would be ACER with only 512MB RAM and Samsung with no Video out.
But if the price is right....0 -
Here's an MSE tip - if you want to get the Acer 16gb version cheaper.. go here:NiftyDigits wrote: »My issues would be ACER with only 512MB RAM and Samsung with no Video out.

Sign up for a Very account, get the 10% off the first order (Takes price from £120 down to £108.). Then send off for the £20 cachback - taking the price down to £88. Yes, you need to sign up for a Very credit account, but you just pay it all off in the first month and then cancel the credit account.
You can probably find other Very codes.. I did this with a Nook e-reader and bought it for about £20.0 -

Still only 512MB RAM. Perhaps a hands on review might help....or at least a YouTube review. Time for my siesta.0 -

Forget the cheaper tablets full stop.
Basically it goes;
1.Ipad/Nexus 7
2.Samsung Tab
3.Blackberry Playbook.
None will store half of Blockbuster, but will do some of what you want,I know you only want to spend £100 but you really do get what you pay for,if it was me I'd pay the extra for the Nexus,if you really cant push above 100,I seriously wouldnt bother at all.
if i could afford an ipad or nexus i would not have started this post.
my OH has very little tech knowledge. so want something that isnt going to confuse the hell out of him. something easy to navigate through.
i dont want to store half of blockbuster. just be able to load a few movies onto it to watch we he wants to and the same with music.SPC 0370 -
after having a quick look this seems to be ok for him and a good price.

but does it not have much room for music/movie storage?SPC 0370 -

16gb is a good size, but the tablet has an SD card slot, should he run out you just pop more memory in, another 16GB would be less than £10 or a great big 32GB - so making a huge 48GB total about £14

...and thats down the line...only if he runs low with the 16GB built in. May well not.
If you can do all the deal mentioned (I have used the Very credit account discount before and it was fine) plus the cashback from Acer you are getting a good deal well within budget.0 -
There are codes on Hotukdeals for £30 off a £60 spend on a new credit account.
£119 - £30, then minus £20 cashback from Acer - potentially only £69 to buy.0 -
I'm suprised no one else has picked up on this one.
Kindle fire is a great one - especially for an e-reader. Also has loads of apps and room for the odd film. Also at £130 - good value.0 -

I am not surprised.
Over budget, limited memory with no slot to expand it, limited apps available, tied into Amazon, no camera so no chance to Skype....0
