Sorry - it stands for Michael Powell, it's a Christmas cottage :)

The link nmm has put up is a good one to start with but most stitchy magazines have charts which an be used for cards. World of Cross Stitch has a monthly 'design library' which is great for motifs :)

  • After looking at all the sites, I decided to go with Cross Stitch Heaven. I needed to speak with someone about the colour fabric and the lady was really helpful so ordered £25 worth of material and threads from there! I did however, find some lovely hearts with 'made with love' written on them so I bought a pack of 5 as they will be lovely to attach to gifts for people :j

I've bought the made with love charms from there and liked them so much I ordered some more the next time I placed an order. I attached them to Christmas stockings. Isn't it lovely when you can speak to an actual person and discuss your requirements? I love online ordering but sometimes you need that personal touch.
  • It's the Secret Santa Chart, looks lovely but still can't find the enthusiasm to start it!

Secret Santa is a fabulous design though not one I have stitched (yet). Have you got all the supplies or just the chart? I love stitching Christmas designs all year round :D
  • Louise There's organised and there's super-unbelievably-well -organised
It must be wonderful to know you have a handmade card for every occasion
Quite right that you are keeping the MP design. I think quite a lot of us liked us when it appeared in the magazine. Are you the only one who actually stitched it?

43teabags We love seeing photos of WIPs even if they don't look anything like the final design. It might encourage MOS to start hers :D And we can encourage you to finish your piece ahead of your sister......

mrsceejay I've done Oh Christmas Tree and it does look good when finished. The beading wasn't too bad - a bit like dressing a tree. I know what you mean about all the shades of red and green but that's what contributes to the final effect so well.
    Dinosaurs sound really cute.

nmm Great offer - I recently signed up at 3 issues for £5 which I thought was good but 3 issues for £3 is fantastic value though I agree with Louise that most xs magazines have designs suitable for cards. I even recognise some of the ones Louise stitched such as the beach wedding scene

I have finished the xs on my Shepherd's Bush stocking apart from the name. I add the beads and charms after I've made it into a stocking. Have left the name for now as who gets it will depend on whether I finish the next one or not. Ideally they will be a pair for a couple but if not I have an outstanding request for a single stocking.

Just the chart and I think I have had it about 15 years! :rotfl:

Sorry I've been AWOL. Long story, but involved me being at work all day and then coming home and feeding calves. By time done that, and had something to eat I'm ready for bed. Finally picked up a needle at the weekend for first time in ages.

Can't remember if I've shared current project, it's this one from Historical Sampler Company

    It's 61cm wide

Got house to myself tonight, so bath and then cuddle up in bed with the cat to watch Downtown Abbey :D
  • Catch up time. :D

sweetcarer - samplers look lovely. Looking forward to seeing your progress with learning sampler.

Flat Eric - I did the Michael Powell Cottage last xmas too and put it in a frame. Pretty sure it was WOCS but I am unable to check for you as I got rid of pretty much all of my mags but it would have been in one on the run up to christmas. I think I probably posted a pic of it last year but here it is again just in case. Would have looked much better without the reflections in the glass but hey ho .......

mos - Santa Stop Here pic is great. Dont forget to update us with a pic when you have made it into a hanging or whatever you choose. Looks a lot of work in Dads stocking but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. I take it he is a keen gardener.

Louise - that's some box of cards you've got there ;)

nmm - thanks for the link for XStitch Card shop. For £3 I'll give it a go. :D

JCS1 - wow that is big. It will be stunning though.

Just got back home last night after a couple of lovely days up in Edingburgh. Stopped at Berwick on the way up and found a lovely little craft shop called Serendipity - had lots of stuff by different crafters at quite reasonable prices. I bought some lovely porcelain heart shaped buttons. On the way back down we called off at Seahouses, which was absolutely lovely and lo and behold I found another little craft shop. Bought more buttons - might add some of these to the Lets Do Wine cushion and I also bought some labels (like the ones you stitch onto school uniforms) which said something like 'stitched with love'. Hubby finds it quite amusing that I'm thinking of stitching one of these onto the cushion as he remembers me getting very frustrated whilst stitching it.

No stitching done for over a week now - I'm up to the backstitch on the little penguin card that came with the last WOCS. Will make the effort and get it completed this week (maybe :D)

    Take care everyone

I see there is a new Christmas Cute themed magazine out this Thursday. Its featured on the DMC Creative World facebook page.. I'm tempted but I think before ordering online, I would like to have a nose at the magazine first.

and I really don't need any more magazines....

I'm getting sorely tempted by the Michael Powell design (I've found the relevant mag/chart now!) Just need to see if I have the threads - I'm guessing as its completely stitched, it doesn't matter what aida is used?
