Hi ladies.
I seem to be in the habit of reading the thread everyday but only posting every 7-10 days so apologies in advance for going over old news
Louise. Blimey you have been busy! The cards are all lovely but I especially like the RM letters. The coaster cards are a brilliant idea too.
Ailsb. Well done on your County Show highly commendeds! Sorry to hear of your accident but glad you are ok, well, better than before if your back has gone back in!
Sweetcarer. Lovely Winter sampler, look forward to seeing the other seasons as they progress.
MOS. Really nice 'Santa Stop Here' finish, love it. Nice design you have chosen for your Dads xmas pressie, good luck getting it done in time!
Look forward to seeing the advent calendar finished though I can't advise on washing, sorry.
JCS1. I really like your current design, look forward to seeing update pics of it.
Tricksie. Hope you are feeling ok after surgery. Look forward to seeing your finishes once they are framed.
As for me. All the X's are done on the Santa & Snowman and I am probably halfway through the backstitch. Had to stop last night as I'm on a part of Santas beard that I modified so I'm having to 'design' the backstitch myself and last night I just couldn't make it look right so I put it away and will look at it with fresh eyes later.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
Hi
M.o.s
I wash mine in washing liquid suitable for knitwear, use tepid water, rinse two or three times,if any colours run just keep rinsing till all colour comes out but these dayss that shouldnt happen, then wrap in a clean towel to get rid of excess water.lay it flat and tease it in to shape, when dry, turn on to wrong side and press it with a warm iron.
It looks a great project,is there a lot mor to do?
Happy stitching0 -

I have decided to finish my advent calendar strips, it is one of the jobs I have put off as the last thing to be done is the white background and it's a nightmare job! Not only is the thread grubby but the fabric is now grubby (being white), how do you get your work clean, is it safe to put in the washing machine or do I just soak in warm water?

They look great, I could have never stitched all that white background
With it being on white fabric I would have left it blank or just stitched a Christmassy red border where the white would end.
I'm so lazy......:o:o:o
Ps - I always handwash things. I use washing powder if there are grubby marks and only use the washing machine as a last resort.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Someone on here suggested "Star Drops" when I had a grubby piece of work and it worked wonders!! Can be used for tonnes of other things too.
Apologies for lack of posting but there is also a lack of stitching!! Do pop in every day though to see what you've all been up to and its all looking very lovely indeed!!

Thank you to everyone for their replies on how to wash the fabric once I have completed the dreaded white!
Bit of a panic for me this morning, was due to ring my Brother who has learning difficulties and is disabled at 9.30am to see if he needed me to take him to his hospital appointment or if he was going to cycle his electric bike......I rang at 9.30am and no answer, went into slight panic but thought he may well be in the bathroom or somewhere and couldn't get to the phone quick enough..............fast forward to 10am and 6 more calls and still no answer so drove over to his (14 miles each way) only to find he isn't there but his dog is and his slippers are by the front door so I am assuming he has gone on his bike  I have left him a note asking him to ring me so hopefully in the next hour I will hear from him.
Right, back to my cross stitching, not sure it's good at stress relief but going to give it a go!0 -

I always wash pieces that are going to be framed even if there aren't any obvious marks EXCEPT I don't wash anything with over dyed threads such as Weeks Dye Works or Gentle Arts Sampler Threads as these run - even using a steam iron caused runs on one piece
Lovely piece. I wouldn't have stitched the white background either
Nooooooo, you can't tell me you wouldn't have stitched the white either now I am halfway through! Maybe next time I do a similar project I will ask you Ladies first
I too would love to know where the love you to the moon and back char came from as it is lovely0
