Are these from ATS? i'm really sorry for recommending them :( When I ordered from there I got 90% of my threads in a few days and the rest a week or so later.

Yes nmm. It's not your fault at all so don't worry lol. I received half of the threads I ordered and the aida, which looks good quality to me, pretty quick so was happy to start with. I can see from their fb page that delivery seems to a bit of an an issue with them. Do they ever despatch a complete order in one go?! Possibly one of the reasons the business has become too much of a chore and is being wound up. If it's not in stock, don't list it for sale! Anyway, I've given up now and ordered them from ebay. They were twice the price but were dispatched today. I just need to build up a stock of kits so that I'm never waiting with nothing to stitch lol.

Just wondering, do all you seasoned cross stitches have a stash with all of the thread colours in a range? I'm thinking that if I continue to enjoy cross stitching that I may build a stock of threads and delivery times will be less of an issue for me.

  • Hi,mags cat,
    That's what I call a birthday present,fantastic
  • I have a stash of threads too - not as beautiful as Mags' mind you... Saves waiting for the "one you need right now".

By the way, sorry I've been so quiet (for ages). Life has got right in the way. How rude!

Nmm - BD is coming along great, the last week you seems to have flown along. I had delays when I orded from ATS but they arrived eventually and as I saved so much I didnt mind waiting, in fact I still havent used some of the threads I was so desperate to get - lol.

Mags - I'm sure I remember seeing your threads before and going green then as well. I have about 4 boxes of dmc and 1 of anchor but can guarantee I've never got just the shade I need. Also as I've usually got several projects on the go they are never where they should be.

Anyway fanfair please ladies - I've finished the Salander. Will try to post a picture once I've washed it.

Someone asked about my 11.12.13 piece. The honest answer is I havent picked it up all year. Will have a lokk and see what I can do but dont hold your breath.

off out on scouting activities now. Have a good day all.

  • Hello

I'm a long time lurker with a lot of admiration for the all the projects you ladies get completed. I'm working on a large project since November last year - it's this one of New York
    http://www.geckorouge-gallery.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=75&product_id=361

and I have loads of threads that are in plastic bags at the moment. I'd really like one of those plastic boxes with the bobbin thingys to put my threads onto as the rest of my life is so organised and neat. Where's the best place to get one? Do I write the thread numbers on the bobbins or can you get pre-printed ones? Please help, I keep wasting loads of time searching for threads :(

I got my boxes from ebay, you can either hand write on the numbers or buy stickers with them on

Wow!! I want this. In fact, I think I already know that this is what I'm aiming for as I bought a box, bobbin winder and DMC stickers last week. I'll need to drop some big hints to my family about Xmas and birthday presents lol.

Love your New York project, it's so modern and colourful.

Most of the cross stitch websites stock the boxes and they are only a few pounds. I think I was £3 something for one that holds 100 bobbins and it came with 100 paper bobbins. You can also find new ones on ebay. You can buy official DMC stickers for them. Think I paid £0.99 for mine. I bought mine from sewandsew.co.uk and while they are not the cheapest have fantastic delivery, it arrived the following day :T.

Thanks everyone else for comments on thread stashes, my mind is now made up lol :D.

Sorry I've been AWOL. Long story, but involved me being at work all day and then coming home and feeding calves. By time done that, and had something to eat I'm ready for bed. Finally picked up a needle at the weekend for first time in ages.

Can't remember if I've shared current project, it's this one from Historical Sampler Company

    Just-for-a-Girl-web-550.jpg

    It's 61cm wide

Got house to myself tonight, so bath and then cuddle up in bed with the cat to watch Downtown Abbey :D

    I really like this.

    Catch up time. :D

sweetcarer - samplers look lovely. Looking forward to seeing your progress with learning sampler.

Flat Eric - I did the Michael Powell Cottage last xmas too and put it in a frame. Pretty sure it was WOCS but I am unable to check for you as I got rid of pretty much all of my mags but it would have been in one on the run up to christmas. I think I probably posted a pic of it last year but here it is again just in case. Would have looked much better without the reflections in the glass but hey ho .......

mos - Santa Stop Here pic is great. Dont forget to update us with a pic when you have made it into a hanging or whatever you choose. Looks a lot of work in Dads stocking but I'm sure it will be worth it in the end. I take it he is a keen gardener.

Louise - that's some box of cards you've got there ;)

nmm - thanks for the link for XStitch Card shop. For £3 I'll give it a go. :D

JCS1 - wow that is big. It will be stunning though.

Just got back home last night after a couple of lovely days up in Edingburgh. Stopped at Berwick on the way up and found a lovely little craft shop called Serendipity - had lots of stuff by different crafters at quite reasonable prices. I bought some lovely porcelain heart shaped buttons. On the way back down we called off at Seahouses, which was absolutely lovely and lo and behold I found another little craft shop. Bought more buttons - might add some of these to the Lets Do Wine cushion and I also bought some labels (like the ones you stitch onto school uniforms) which said something like 'stitched with love'. Hubby finds it quite amusing that I'm thinking of stitching one of these onto the cushion as he remembers me getting very frustrated whilst stitching it.

No stitching done for over a week now - I'm up to the backstitch on the little penguin card that came with the last WOCS. Will make the effort and get it completed this week (maybe :D)

    Take care everyone

I've sorted most of the threads so think I might be starting the MP project soon !

FE The Cute Christmas magazine is good value at £3.99 if they are new designs but often they are repeats of things that have been published in the magazines and as you subscribe to Cross Stitcher you may already have a lot of them. Like you say you need to look through it before you buy

Its in the shops now although its in a cellophane cover so unless you buy it/or open in the shop :naughty::D , you can't peek at what's inside. There are a nice selection of festive designs, some of which will stitch up quickly. There are as you say, repeats of charts/designs that have featured before which is a shame as I probably have them in other magazines but for £3.99 I thought it was worth it. The free kit is cute although I will probably adapt slightly and may use my own threads. (The threads supplied when I first looked appeared fluffy?) The free kit is just some aida, the threads and a mount - no card/envelope (not sure why I thought it came with a card mount and envelope?!).
