I've been collecting DMC threads for years, usually when I go on holiday to Florida where they are much cheaper. I love winding them onto the bobbins - I've got one of those bobbin winder thingies and I buy those plastic stickers with the numbers printed on them.
Here's my stash:

Is it possible to have 'stash' envy?.......if so, I have it! :rotfl:0 -
Hi.
Skint chick
Wonderful project, just shows how an old skill can be used for modern artwork, absolutely love it.
I inherited my mothers thread boxes, she is suffering from alzimers,""there's some sewing bits in the cupboard, use them up" she sez.
I found 8 boxes full!i will never have to buy any silks again,it must have taken her years to buy them all,it must be a full set.
She can't sew anymore, but likes to see mine when they are done.the brighter the better where's she concerned.
It's a dreadful thing as she's forgot she used to knit and dressmake, she asks me how I learned to do all these things, forgetting she taught me.0 -
Mrscj, sad to read about your mums alzimers but her skills and tallents life on through you, every beautiful thing you create is because she taught you how.

Hi,

What pretty puss cats,I had 2 cats,1 tabby,1 like the ginger cat on its own,the tabby reached the grand old age of 17years,the ginger not so long but he was the character of the two,mad as a hatter,he visited all the old ladies in the area and had coffee and cake with all of them.i was know as Leo's mum!0 -

Just wondering, do all you seasoned cross stitches have a stash with all of the thread colours in a range? I'm thinking that if I continue to enjoy cross stitching that I may build a stock of threads and delivery times will be less of an issue for me.

I have all the DMC range on bobbins in boxes as well - best thing I ever did. I just go through them every few months and see what is getting low and order a top up and the spares are al stored in labelled plastic bagsskint_chick wrote: »
Do I write the thread numbers on the bobbins or can you get pre-printed ones?
For anyone with plastic bobbins - PLEASE don't buy the DMC stickers for them! After a year or so they lose all their stickiness and start falling off, I had to go through mine and rewrite the numbers with a sharpie.
Cardboard bobbins shouldn't have that problem though.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Thanks fos for replying about my secret santa. You're right they substituted different threads, which are fine when you know what they are! Lovely progress pics and of course the finished results are fab.
Dare not browse anything stitchy related as I bought 3 HaED designs in their sale, just so I wouldn't run out of sewing to do!Wishful Thinking is free!0
