  • Hello Stitchers

Hope everyone had a good weekend and managed some stitching.

Lovely to see so many newbies joining in.

winnie I mainly buy fabric and charts from websites rather than kits. In the past I have bought threads but have quite a good stock now and if I am short of a single DMC colour I will buy it from one of my 2 LNS as I want them to stay in business (both specialise in patchwork and quilting but do have a small stock of xs items).
I like gadgets but tend to buy them when I see them in person at a store or a show so they might be good for your stand.
Have you decided how you are going to market your website so that people know about it and visit it?

coffee I love making Christmas decorations. Years ago I belonged to an online stitching group which ran a year long stitch along based on the US magazine Just Cross Stitch which has an annual Christmas ornaments issue. We used to vote and then agree to stitch a specific ornament each month. As we were stitching for ourselves it didn't matter if we missed a month and it was lovely to see how the same pattern was interpreted differently by different stitchers. So I've still got quite a few decorations from then (not as many as I made as some have been given away over the years).

magscat Love your decorations - I can see that they were a lot of work but so effective. Like you I love getting out my Christmas stitchings each year and I try to add at least one new one each year

mos I couldn't stitch in the car though it is a lovely idea. I have stitched on the train

hippipal Will this be your first grandchild? Hope you can share your choice of birth sampler with us soon - as has been said we are a nosy bunch :D

ayeshalush welcome to the cafe. I don't think anyone minds questions about our favourite hobby.
I know what you mean about working getting in the way of hobbies but at least we crafters/stitchers are never bored

I agree with other comments that using a hoop or frame makes it easier to maintain your tension which in turn makes your work neater. I prefer the type mentioned by nmm and they last forever so can be considered an investment

sweetcarer that is gorgeous - are you doing all four?
This is beautiful, the colours are so calming

Thank you all for your kind comments. The colours are brighter in real life - hubby thinks it looks like quite a modern looking sampler compared to older ones. And, yes, I am planning to do all four - hopefully by end of year.

    Kind wishes all,

    sweetcarer ;)

mos. MotoGP fan here too! Did you see the race? I can't believe Marquez not only raced and finished but battled hard for the win!

Absolutely brilliant, I had hoped Cal would do better but hopefully next year will be a good one (not convinced Ducati is the place to go) .

I got a reasonable amount of stitching done yesterday and will post updates letter today, I love stitching Christmas designs :j

B_E_G BD is coming along beautifully, I have put my wolves to one side to get some Christmas bits done.

morning all, hope everyone is well.
sorry forgot to say hello to the latest arrival of new stitchers, we seem to have had quite a few recently, welcome to all of you.

nmm BD is looking gorgeous, great update

this was tiger cub last time you saw him
    th_IMG_0547_zps1446382e.jpg

and this is how hes looking now. if you look midway down the leg ive almost completed you can see the couple of little dark stripes (the 'V' shaped bit) i had to take out. i think the previous stitcher had accidentally repeated the same part of the pattern from just above it.

Wow, Tiger cub is looking fantastic. What do you plan to do with him once you have finished?

    thank you

i really dont know, hes been started on a piece of fabric that was really a bit too small and im getting dangerously close to the edge at the bottom. (he still needs claws and paw finishing on that leg and the other one is slightly lower) i dont think there will be enough to frame him so it may end up being a cushion or bag panel.

Agreed about Ducati, hubby says Yamaha have done Cal over completely.

Look forward to seeing your updates on your xmas designs.

mrsmp. Lovely Tiger cub, really cute! Shame about the fabric size but I'm sure it will end up looking fab however you decide to display it.

Right, I must get off this pc and do my cleaning! :(
