I can't post the picture as I'm too new apparently :-( Don't know how long I need to be on before I can put pictures up.
nmm and blue_eyed_girl our cruise is round the Mediterranean, 14 days of lazing around and lots of time for cross stitching and reading :-)
Mrs ceejay & flowerofscotland thank you for the welcome.
I have been really enjoying looking at everyone's pictures. I bought the Disney books that someone posted a few weeks ago so I might find some inspiration there. My daughter is expecting a baby at the end of October and I'm wondering about doing a birth one for her from one of the books.0 -
Mags Cat - Love those decorations.
Hippipal - You need to make 10 posts before you can post pics.
Its a rainy afternoon here and I am finally getting out some stitching after a long break of not doing anything creative.0 -
sorry hippipal, forgot to say welcome to youSPC~12 ot 124

Have just read through the whole of this thread and I'm desperate to get started on a cross stitch project!! All your pictures are gorgeous. I've had a couple of kits at home for years that I've never got around to starting but after getting a free mini kit in my last Mollie Makes mag (which i stitched last weekend) I'm dying to get going on a bigger project. I warn you all though, I may be on asking lots of questions, hope you don't get fed up with me.
I looked out the kits last night, and one involves half stitches so I think I'll start with the other one first.
I have to say that the back of my Mollie Makes cross stitch was very untidy but I have since read up on some hints and tips and think I should manage to keep future ones a bit tidier.
Does everyone use a hoop to stitch with? I think it would make it easier, especially for larger projects, but I was just wondering if I could get away without one at the moment as I really need to curb my crafty spending lol!!
I love crafts and also make cards, knit, make jewellery, crochet and recently bought a sewing machine, so I'm starting out with some small projects on that. Just wish I didn't have to come to work so that I had more time for crafting lol.
I also fancy subscribing to a cross stitch magazine. Is there any in particular that you would recommend?
Sorry for the long post, and all the questions (already, oops!:o)

Hello to everyone who's joined
I was just checking the Flickr group and it flagged up two new pending members. I recognised one name from this group but has someone else tried to join with a Flickr screen name with the initials PM? (Don't want to post the whole name, obviously!).
If that's you - drop me a message and I'll sort out your membership of our group.0 -

I always use a hoop as it keeps the tension tight and the stitches neat,it doesn't make your hands ache.try the charity shops, ours had some small ones in at 35p each.
Have a good weekend.0 -
Thanks Mrs ceejay, never thought about the charity shops. Will go for a look tomorrow.
Bought WOCS on way home from work, so I'll do the free penguin card that came with it for a bit more practice before I start on a bigger project.
I'll post a pic of my efforts over the weekend as I see from the threads first post that pics are compulsory lol!

There are loads of different kits out there to make decorations for your tree - here's some I made a few years ago. There are nine in the kit and they are a bit more work than some others, but I look forward to unpacking them every year!

Hi everyone,
Welcome to the recent joiners, you are in great company here. Lovely people
I haven't stitched anything this week apart from name labels for DDs new school uniformA necessary job given the amount it cost. A family BBQ descended into near fisty cuffs on Monday (in laws not my folks) so I haven't been sleeping well since, replaying events over and over. Have decided to avoid them for a while, as being around people who make me unhappy is not good for my health. Sorry if TMI
Hoping to do some stitching on Sunday as out tomorrow at friends.
Loving all the pics especially the Xmas decs.

Thank you Mrs Moneypenny and Coxy11 for your welcome. And firefly369 for your help. I'll just have to annoy people by posting a lot for the next few days until I can add pictures!
I have found my next project. A golden eagle that I bought on a holiday to Mull a few years ago and had forgotten about. And after that I have a puffin to do. These should keep me busy for a while. I like buying a kit that reminds me of a holiday.0
