Hello everyone. I have been lurking here for a few weeks and have finally plucked up the courage to post. I have been busy finishing a cross stitch for my son's wedding and when I work out how to upload a picture I will add it. Now looking for inspiration about what to do next. I am going on a cruise in 2 weeks so want to take something fairly substantial with me. I am going to do a clear out of my cross stitch box tomorrow to see what kits I have that I have forgotten about!0

Start new project tomorrow, something entirely different, two dinosaur pictures for the grandsons, went on eBay and bought the chart of the dinosaur alphabet,so going to make their names which hopefully won't take too long and I can get both done for Christmas.
Gracious, can't believe i'am talking about Christmas already.0 -
Loving all the updates from people, they are fantastic.
I have recently been diagnosed with CFS after being off work since the middle of June  I am now being made redundant so life not great here! I have been spending most days doing cross stitch and have started my Christmas cross stitching, so far I have stitched 6 cards and 3 decorations and have just started stitching a Santa Stop Here cross stitch on dark blue aida, does anyone have any useful tips for being able to see the squares, my eyes have gone googly looking at it! :rotfl:
Has anyone else started their Christmas stitching yet?0 -

With any dark fabric, you need a good light source behind you and a white towel on your lap - the holes show up a bit better that way.0 -
Mrs MP - love your 12 days update.
nmm - love the way the BD eyes just peep over on the edge of the stitching.
luckycat - I'm sure you'll get your project finished in time.. Are you framing it yourself. Bet they will both love it. Don't forget to let us see the finished thing.
Hippipal - welcome to the Cafe. Looking forward to seeing your pics when you are able to post them. Where are you cruising to?
Mrs ceejay - looking forward to seeing elephants. Good luck with dinosaurs.
mos - sorry to hear that you've been having a bit of a rough time. Hope things pick up for you soon. Sounds as though you are getting really organised for the festive period. My 12 Days is for xmas if that counts.
Started stitching 12th Day of Xmas tonight. Got to go back and finish the 4th Day as I ran out of one of the colours. Hubby has taken my cross stitch mags to the charity shop - I think he thought if I took them they would probably end up coming back home with me.
Take care everyone

Sorry about your recent hardship - my brother has had something similar to CFS so i know how much it can wipe you out.
As this is my first year cross stitching (really wish i'd discovered it sooner) i am bypassing christmas stitching as i have a list of kits i need to do for birthdays and i don't think i will have time. It's a little annoying cos i love christmas!0 -
B_E_G glad to hear I'm not the only one preparing for Christmas :j
Emslovesmickey, I had a break of about 15 years from cross stitching, having children, working etc I never had time but so glad I have managed to start it again.
Thank you for the great tips on working with the aida fabric, I will try that today. Maybe I should do the Christmas one by day and have a different one to do in the evening's when it gets dark0 -
By the way in case anybody is interested on buysubscriptions.com they have a couple of cross stitch mags (Cross Stitch Crazy and the World of Cross Stitch)in their summer sale - 5 issues for £50
