Okay, I'm going for the pictures!! This is teddy McTed Face Backstitch Begger the first. It's been a hard one for a newbie, the first time I've had lots of colour changes with shades of brown. And the worst is yet to come! Anyway, here goes nothing!!

    Oh he is so cute!

I started a teddy one myself last night. It is a birth sampler for GS1 I would like to finish it in two weeks so it's done before holiday as it is to be a christening present for 6th October.

Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend. Just a shame the weather is so carp :(

    Hi ladies.

JCS. The flower picture is lovely, are they Pansies?

    Sweetcarer. Nice progress.

Ems. Nice update pic, they look great.

Mrsmp. Glad your step mum liked the garden bench, though I'm not surprised as it was lovely.

Coffeeandstitches. Nice update, looks cute already.

    As for me.
Not a stitch done at all this last week and unlikely any will get done next week either. Hubby has been on hols from work for the last week and we have been outside all day every day doing a building project he had planned with next week consisting of more of the same.
We have been outside from around 8am until 7pm and by the time we have both showered and eaten we are good for nothing except bed!
Today is a rest day and I feel I should be doing housework as I didn't do any on my usual cleaning day on friday but as last week was the most physical I have been in years my body just doesn't want to move! :D
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

It's not so much an update as a finished piece (before ironing obviously!) but thanks :)

I'm not surprised your body doesn't want to move - i'm knackered just reading about all the work you have done!
  • beg. Wall hanging will be wonderful. Have you ever made your own cord? It's quite easy especially if you have another pair of hands to help and you can use up left over threads which will then match

Hi fos - I didn't know you could make your own chord :o. Might see if there are any videos online that show how its done. Just thought I would be popping along to the local haberdashery shop :D.

    Hi,ladies,

    B.e.g
Just received my Margaret sherry collection in post, what a great little book, can't wait to get started, ordered fabric from eBay should arrive wed.
The dratted elephants should be finished by then, chuffed with it really.one of the most ambitious I've ever done.
How are you getting on with yours?

Hi Mrs ceejay - Good luck with your 12 Days - I'm sure you will enjoy stitching it (fingers tightly crossed):D.

Looking forward to seeing the elephants. I think it is sometimes easier if you are doing a lot of fractional stitches to use evenweave fabric - some of the other members might have views on this. The fractionals, although they can be a pain in the b!m, do help if there is a lot of detail in the picture. It will be worth it. ;)

  • ems - love the instruments. Are you framing the piece yourself?

Coffee - McTed is going to be a real cutie. Great progress btw.

tricksie - good luck with your birth sampler. Course you'll have it finished in time. Look forward to seeing a little piccy :D

shelly - I'm worn out just reading your post. :p Good luck with the building project. Once its all done you'll be able to sit back with your feet up, stitching in hand while you admire all the handy-work.

Update on my 12 Days - ran out of a couple of colours so have had to order them  So while I'm waiting for the postie to bring those, I have moved on to the next pic - 8 Maids a Milking.

I started to look through my cross stitch mags this afternoon as I came across a design online and convinced myself I had it in one of my mags. Guess what - several hours later - bed and floor covered in mags and other cross stitch related stuff - I must have dreamt that I had seen it. :o I have now decided to have a serious cull of my magazines as space is becoming a bit of a problem. Worked my way through them now and decided what I want to keep from them and the rest are off to the local hospice charity shop sometime during the week. It has probably been quite a good exercise really as it's reminded me of what I have in my stash and therefore don't really need to buy any new stuff in the near future.

Just about to settle down now to watch Vera with a cuppa and might be able to stitch a bit more cow :rotfl:

Hope you are all enjoying the holiday weekend and managing plenty of stitching.

    Take care everyone

PS Sorry for the many posts but I have been trying to post as I go along.

    Hi,b.e.g.

I agree with you about using even weave that's what I'm using for the elephants,i prefer using it on all my projects,I think it gives a better look to the finished article.
I did the same as you, looking for one pattern and ended up clearing out a load,I took them to local charity shop and before I got out of the shop found some new Aidan and unused cards with happy Christmas on them,so another project on the list.
It never gets any less,on wards and upwards girls, keep stitching
  • Coffee Teddy looks cute already

beg New Stitches magazine used to have good instructions on making cord but I also put "making twisted cord" into YOUTube search and there were lots of tutorials. Apart from the thread all you need is a pencil and a door (or another pair of hands)

Completely agree with comments about evenweave - I hardly ever use aida now

Managed to fit in some stitching and am now back on track with Stitcher's 12 Days

Four hours to stitch ( which is the clock I have started) is the section for August so should get it finished by the end of the month:j July and August have just been so busy that stitching time was very limited

Hope all are enjoying the lovely weather and the time off (not in Scotland) It is really hot here and I have lots of washing drying outside
