Ok, silly question time....
I've decided that I want to stitch the mini sampler pattern that came free with this months WOCS. They tell you what size of aida/evenweave to buy and what colours of threads (for 3 brands!) but not how much of each colour. How do I work it out?
Bear in mind that I have never purchased embroidery thread on its own before and, as I type, I'm starting to recall that it comes in little skeins (for want of a better word!) so I'm guessing one of each colour will suffice. What would I do if I was stitching a larger project though? I'm guessing it is like yarn, that you get different dye lots so are best to buy all you need in one go.
There's obviously a lot more to cross stitching than I first realised lol!:o

One skein of each colour will be fine. A skein is 8m long with 6 strands of which you will use 2 at a time so you will have lots left over. If a pattern needs more than one skein it will say. Yes it is a good idea to buy them together but it"s not as crucial as with yarn0 -

Didn't realise that skein was actually the right word lol!

I don't know if anyone remembers but I used to do a bit of stitching and post on here a couple of years ago. I picked up a UFO today and did a little bit more on it.Savings £8,865.22 £/15,000 Aiming to save enough for a house deposit.0

Hi all,
Managed a couple of quiet cross stitch hours yesterdayHave completed the majority of the flower shop so just some flowers/greenery and the boring brickwork to do (plus the dreaded back stitch!)
Noticed last night that I need to unpick some more stitches as they are one square too far over. This is the 4th time I have had to do this. I am an avid stitcher but this design is so blooming difficult with its half cross stitches - you do two stitches then with the same colour have to count up 3 over 6 etc. driving me bonkers  DH actually said "just burn it" last night, but when he looked at how far I've come he just said "wow"!
Cleaning the bathrooms today then more stitching later. Out for dinner tonight then working tomorrow so have to snatch some time where I can
