Apols for being AWOL for a couple of months. Mum's been very ill, only just picking up a bit. She's 89 and has various chronic illnesses. For the past 10 weeks I've been looking after her at her home for most of her waking hours. I've had neither time nor motivation for any stitching.
Anyway with the help of a carer in the morning, Mum and I have sorted out a routine which gives me some spare time during the day. Also I have laid down some rules with my siblings - I know they work and have families (I'm retired and single) but they need to make some contribution!
SO, I need to get my stitching mojo back, it's going to be a real effort but I need something to relax me in the evenings - I still feel overwhelmed with it all.

Hello girls,
Sorry I didn't get on yesterday to show you my weekly update picture on my winter sampler but I had a very good reason.
Firstly my update.
My reason - I was competing at weekend 9 bakery competitions and one cross stitch. So how did it go - well - 3rd for banana loaf, 2nd for gingerbread, 2nd for tablet, 2nd for pancakes, 2nd for plain scones, 1st for truffles, 1st for my cross stitch picture and a medal for best craft in show (my cross stitch picture) - so think it went pretty well - watch out for this weeks local rag for picture of all the medal winners including me - blush. Probably wear it for the rest of my life lol. So out of the 10 entries I got 7 ribbons like (piece of card with a rosette on it) and one medal - which I might get engraved with my prize money - all of £4.30 lol
So here is my winning medal picture
Some of the long term members here will remember it and the story behind it
Here is a picture of my rosettes (ribbons) and my medal.
Hope all are well

Well done you...see it was worth getting the marks out and finishing it...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
On a bit of a beg, and hoping you lot can help out.
My Mum and I do a craft stall every year, and donate all our money to a different charity. This means all money, we don't take any out for our stock or anything. This year the charity is Action Cancer.
My Mum does a lot of knitting for it, baby cardigans, teddies and little mini stockings with sweeties in it. I do cross stitch cards, coasters, keyrings and tree ornaments. We also buy little gifts and do a lucky dip for wee ones. Also we both make some Snowman Soup and Reindeer Food.
As you can imagine this lot doesn't come cheap and we try and get as much through the year as we can so we don't have a lot to spend coming up to it. All this money comes out of our own pockets and we don't take it out of the money we lift.
Now for the begging part. Would anyone on here have any materials we can use, doesn't matter if it is a half a skein, or a tiny bit of wool, even an odd coaster or card...or perhaps some cards you have already made up that you have no use for....anything would be very gratefully received, and I will try and cover your postage costs.
Thanks everyone...xx;)I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY;)0 -
