Saw this on the Hobbycraft facebook page & thought of this thread, tbh I have no idea if it's any good, cross stitch way to intricate for my dodgy vision http://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/supplyimages/wf1045/dmc-bk1369-new-chart.pdf

Not too bad, thanks. Did some stitching today. Very close to finishing Lizzie Kate's 'cat lessons' design. Will post a pic when it's done.
Have been doing some crochet too. Just basic blankets, so not very exciting. :-)

  • Morning All,

Lovely to see people coming back to the thread, seems like the darker evenings are drawing us all back to stitching.

Violetta, the chart you posted looks like it would make a lovely piece so I am going to print it off and once I have finished the Highland cows I may well start it :D

I managed to get some more of the cows done, it's so fiddly and lots of changes of colour (not that I can differentiate between some of them)!. The cows are mostly done now but really don't like the look of it still, although DD1 who it is being stitched for loves it (she might just be humouring me though) :rotfl:

Look forward to seeing your updates.

  • Lovely to see you back Ruth :hello:

    Thanks for the chart Violetta.

Have managed a tiny bit more stitching but probably wont get any done today as by the time I settle down later it will be too dark to stitch on the dark blue aida. :(

    Have a good weekend everyone

  • Well as this morning was cold, wet and dark after another lovely sunny weekend, it seems like the right time to start collecting sign ups for this year's Christmas Exchange.

I'm so pleased that some of us want to do this again as I keep all my stitched Christmas cards, coasters and ornaments and bring them out as part of my decorations every year. Some of them must be 20 years old.......

Last year's worked really well so I am repeating the "instructions" unless anyone has any suggestions on how to improve things.

The Exchange is open to all members of the Cafe but in order to minimise the risk of anything going wrong, not to newbies
I will take sign ups until FRIDAY 30 OCTOBER
If you want to take part pm me with your MSE name, your postal address, whether you would prefer to stitch a card, ornament or coaster or no preference, whether you would prefer to receive a card, ornament or coaster or no preference; anything your partner needs to know e.g. not a religious theme, avoid the colour blue etc; if you've taken part previously who were your partners (unless you don't mind)
And just to make it clear - I don't pair people up because that requires an even number of participants; instead person A sends to person B who sends to person C and the last person on the list sends to person A
It does make it easier if most people have no preference :)
I will collate the information and send you the details of who you are stitching for by MONDAY 2nd NOVEMBER; please note that this means I will be sending your address to your partner and also that I will keep it until after the exchange has been completed successfully
Your exchange piece must be mailed BETWEEN SATURDAY 28th NOVEMBER AND FRIDAY 4th DECEMBER. It's a good idea to take a photo before you mail it
You must post a message in the Cafe as soon as you receive your package
You must take a photo of what you have received and either include it in a post or upload to our Flickr group
Please don't include anything else with your stitched piece except perhaps a gift tag or a small printed card if you are sending an ornament or coaster; I've added this because I've seen these sort of exchanges get difficult when some stitchers start to include other gifts (with the best of intentions) and it puts off others who aren't able to do this
Let me know asap if there are any problems which might mean a delay or even you dropping out
Have I missed anything? Any questions?
