Started this a week ago, took it on holiday, can't believe I've done so much but I know I read the sizes wrong so not sure how much room I've got to play with, and I counted it right just forgot to add on margin

You have stitched really quickly Mrs ceejay. I think you should be ok with your fabric. I have messed up centering the last two pieces I have stitched even though I thought I had worked out where the centre was.

I have finished the Keep Calm stitch for DS's GF birthday at the end of the month. Will press it over the next few days then I will have to see about a framed. Was hoping to have a trip to Ikea for some frames but there are some horrendous longterm roadworks on the way so I think I will give it a miss for the time being. Might see what Wilco or £shops have in.

Thinking of stitching four of the Keep Calm designs and making them into a cushion with the 11ct aida I have.

    Take care everyone

Hi all, not been posting much, too busy reading up about the *whispers*referendum...... but I have been stitching

Completed Fairyland Dreams in 4 weeks which was some feat. Can't see me doing another Passione Ricamo design- it cost around £30 just for the rainbow treasure braid. It was around £80 by the time the chart fabric and Dmc threads were factored in and I haven't even looked at frames yet.
    She is beautiful though....:)

Did I spot somewhere there is a card exchange again? Can I join if I'm not too late and who is organising it?

Lovely to see you in the Cafe Louise. Course you can join in :D

Re card exchange - fos has said she would be happy to do it again this year.

Thanks fos for offering to do card exchange and can I join in to again please?

Has anyone 'seen' Ailsb? Hope everything is ok and that she is just too busy to post.

Off now to feed the washing machine - again. Then I'm going to pop out to get some thread for Keep Calm cushion - all these darn threads and not the colour I want (not even sure what I want yet - something like a mustardy yellow). Will need extra as I was planning on using 3 strands with it being 11ct aida.

    Take care everyone

I wondered about doing that as I haven't done any of the the borders yet,not sure wether to make a picture or use it as a cushion or to put it on the front of a shopping type bag to keep all my sewing in.decisions! decisions!
    Louise
That was quick work, but it looks fabulous,it's amazing how the costs just seem to add up but it's worth it!

the cushion idea sounds good, saw something like it in a fancy arts shop in St,Ives and it looked great.
We haven't got an ikea near us,closest is about hour and half away,DH hates ikea so I don't get very often, but they do have a good range of frames.
    Mags cat
That is a lot of work, take my hat off to you, some times you have to take a break from a big project or you lose enthusiasm for it.keep going

The fancy art shop got the idea from me Mrs ceejay ;) :rotfl: One of the pics says 'Keep Calm and Stitch' and as it is going to be my cushion I think I will have to include that one. Might leave the cupcake one out though as I don't think it will be very Slimming World friendly :D

  • Wow what a flurry of activity in 24 hours.

Hi Maria, Louise, and Magscat - great to see you all popping in. Think we are due some photos :D

Re Christmas Exchange - it was only a remark by nmm and I replied by saying I would be happy to repeat this year and suddenly people are worrying they are too late. I know we stitchers like to plan ahead but it still feels like summer here

Anyway I will dig out the posts from last year and you can let me know if you want to change anything and then we'll start the sign up process - if that's ok with everyone?

Kevin Welcome to the cafe I'm not entirely sure what shabby chic is but you can get designs for xs on almost every topic . You could try looking at a site like sewandso.co.uk who have a huge range of charts and kits, pick out some you like and if you link to them we could comment on whether we thought they would be suitable for a beginner. You might even choose some that have been stitched by one of us.

mrsceejay Love the stitching sampler and I think you will be ok for fabric. Adding it to a bag for your stitching supplies would be wonderful though it would also be great framed or made into a cushion. You wouldn't need much of a margin for a cushion

beg love your idea for Keep Calm cushion and no I don't think any of your stitching related behaviour is at all odd / worrying
  • Forgot that I popped in with the promised photo of the latest wedding sampler pressed and ready for the framer. I got totally side tracked by all the posts I had to catch up on.

Not the best of photos as it is taken in artificial light and I don't think you can tell that the fabric has a sparkly effect. I've covered up the names and date as the recipients use this site (though probably not the Cafe).

It wasn't designed as a wedding sampler but they both love cats so I thought it was appropriate and because of the false start with the navy fabric (which I abandoned) I didn't have a lot of time
  • that looks lovely FoS, im sure it will be really appreciated
