    Hi all!

I have not stitched for years but my partner's grandad passed away recently and we inherited some of his grandmother's cross stitches in frames. It made me think that I would love to stitch more and leave some things behind when I go :)

So, my house has a 'shabby chic' vintage feel to it... Wondering if anyone knows of kits which are in this style but also suitable for a beginner like me?

    Thanks,

    Kevin

Started this a week ago, took it on holiday, can't believe I've done so much but I know I read the sizes wrong so not sure how much room I've got to play with, and I counted it right just forgot to add on margin

Not sure if I've missed the finished article but months ago someone was doing a black and white abstract project,I seem to remember stairs going in different direction,I remember it was huge piece of work, was it finished?
I was missing for a while ,went to Oz so missed a lot of work.

Mags_cat is doing the black and white stitch

You're right FOS, I seem to have managed to stitch quite a bit of elvis yesterday. I'm at the point now where I see a symbol on the chart and know the colour without even looking at the key... think it's imprinted on my brain :rotfl:

I was due to have another 2 weeks holiday off work at the end of the month but due to the way project deadlines have worked out I've decided to bring them forward. So as of Monday next week I'll be on holiday so suspect elvis may be finished sooner than planned :T

Anyway I'm off to do a bit more stitching before bed ...night all

Finished? :laughs hysterically: Come back in about a decade :rotfl:

    I've almost finished page 9. Of 35.

To be fair, I have stitched two other largish pieces this year which are going to be presents for thatseasonthatcannotbenameduntilafterBonfireNight so I haven't been entirely slacking!

    Evening everyone

Update time, I'm a week behind schedule at the minute due to the problems with gas board and mum having to be at my house while the work was done...elvis had to go into hiding until she left :(

Anyway, I finished another page this morning so now only 2 remaining and they're not full pages so hoping I can make up some time as want him finished and framed by end of October.

Sorry the pic is a bit grainy

    Hi everyone,

Not done much stitching this week, been busy working on an exchange piece for the FB sampler world exchange.

So here is my Christmas decoration - we could do it any craft - so I choose pincraft. I am also sending them a wee stitch (I couldn't not, could I). It is a wee pin cushion. I am not very good at putting them together but I tried. It is stuffed with some of my wee orts from this year.

    Here's the pictures

So hopefully my recipient likes it. I did think of making my decorations in cross stitch but as you can see with my attempt at putting the pin cushion together it might not of worked. I wonder what I will get in return.

Some lovely work being done in here. Nice to see Elvis face - you are getting there PM, never tried parking Ayeshalush (maybe I should try it on my BAP (well hidden away, full of confetti), FOS love the look of varigated threads but the time it take to do each one - only done it once with a bookmark but the effect was good

Been an up and down week, went down to my Mums grave, the stone has been put in place, hubby had someone say something nasty about him at college - he is older than alot in his class - keep encouraging him saying he is making something of his life, using his mind instead of sitting at home unemployed all day.

Oh well, will help him with his home work later - word and excel - my good points. Might try and do some stitching, feel I have not done any and I have missed it.

Take care all and kind wishes to all

    sweetcarer ;)

PS Mum of the baby stitch (for her older boy) came up to me and he was over the moon he has one the same as his baby brother :)

Great pieces as usual sweetcarer. It's lovely stitching for people who you know will appreciate all your hard work. Well done to you DH for trying to move things long work/careerwise - he will be the winner at the end of the day.

  • on stitchy news, i spent most of the weekend sorting out my DMC stash, ive wound it all off the dmc bow storage things onto proper little cards and now have 4 boxes all in numerical order (some colours i have 3 or 4 cards of as with buying it at the carboot ive picked up a few different peoples sets. Also did about an hour of red skirt stitching.

Sometimes I enjoy sorting my stash almost as much as I enjoy stitching and being organised really helps with stitching in the future. On the subject of letting family know what to do I have made it clear that my stash and stitched projects have a value so nothing must be thrown out (and I will be watching to check what happens :rotfl:). I don't mind my stash going to charity shops as I know a stitcher would benefit but I hate the thought of it being thrown away.

I love getting my newly sorted out thread boxes out and just looking at them. Do I need to be worried? :D
    * unlurks* can i join the exchange please! Haven't picked up a needle in months and need a kick up the bum!
    * goes back to lurking *
