BEG when im using varigated threads i stitch each X indifidually as i come to it so the XXXs fade or change colour gradually across the row if you did \\\\ then //// the effect wouldnt be quite the same.

Think I'm going to restart Henry as I think my aida is bit on neat side. Best do it now before I spend any more time on it. Please excuse my take on the parking method lol.

The postcard stitch is the first of 4. Halfway through second one.

    Hi everyone,

We got back from our hols in the early hours of Sunday. Spent most of Sunday in tears as I miss my Dad so much (he lives in Cyprus) and I'm not sure when I'll see him again :(

Didn't take any stitching with me on holiday. I have a couple of knitting projects I need to get done for a deadline - a scarecrow for Harvest and a church mouse for Christmas. Will need to make some progress on the scarecrow now I'm back.

Some lovely makes whilst I've been away. No wi-fi abroad so I'm only now catching up with all your work.

Hope all are well and have a good day :)

  • sweetcarer - your colleague will love the baby sampler. Such a kind thing to do.

JCS1 - she's beautiful. Does anyone else think she looks a bit like Binky from Made in Chelsea (my guilty pleasure lol)?

nmm - RF will be stunning when finished. I don't envy you all that red though!

b_e_g - I love opening my boxes with all my threads sorted and stored properly. Just hate winding them on to the bobbins though lol. Well done on reducing your stash, unfortunately mine just keeps growing. I need to find more stitching time!!

BigBird - irises are beautiful. I bet your glad you've finally finished it. Well worth the effort.

Fos - I love the colour of your aida and the thread goes so well with it.

Coxy - I'm so sorry you're missing your dad. Are you able to speak to him on the phone regularly? Maybe a wee chat with him will help bridge the miles a bit.

    Hope everyone else is well.

  • afternoon all

    sweetcarer birth sampler looks lovely

JCS, lady in hat is so pretty

nmm, RF is coming on beautifully

FoS, lovely start on carpe deim - DD2 used to have a poster on her wall saying "Lets carpe the heck out of this diem!"

hope all are well, ive been working on dress skirt most of the weekend

Love that quote - you should cross stitch it for her :D
  • Lovely iris BigBird :T

Lovely little stitch fos. The varigated colours look lovely. Can I just ask - when stitching with varigated do you need to stitch //// then \\\ or do you stitch XXXX if that makes sense to get the effect.

Had a quick look through stash yesterday - which is now much reduced due to a stash buying ban this year and I must admit I didn't really see anything jumping out at me and shouting 'stitch me' :(. Have been debating about stitching a birthday card for DS's GF but was a bit unsure. I also found some of the 'Keep Calm' charts which are fairly modern and would probably be fairly straightfoward and would fit into the time frame. Decisions decisions .........:undecided.

Found a large piece of 11ct aida and was wondering what to use it for. I would need an 'all over' pattern I think - maybe use it for a cushion - sometime :rotfl:

Nothing stitching related tonight as I am out at SW - oh joy

I agree with mrsmp's reply. This isn't a rule so you can try it either way. Doing single stitches does take a bit longer but try it and you may love it

Love the postcard and they will make a wonderful set
  • Love your pics Ayeshalush. Looking forward to seeing the other postcards. If I see 'more stitching time' on sale anywhere I will let you know. ;)

Lovely to see you back Coxy. It must have been so hard leaving your Dad.

Love the Carpe Diem saying Mrs. M. :rotfl:

Thanks for the comments re the varigated threads ladies.

I have made a start on a Keep Calm stitch for DS's GF. It is giving me something to stitch without having to use too many brain cells. :D

    Take care everyone
