morning all
as promised
i really enjoyed stitching this as ive wanted to do one of the 'dictionary' ones for ages.
ta Da!!! you all know the backstory of this one and how much frustration it caused ruining the first one and starting again so getting this framed was a real sense of achievement and im proud of the fact i stuck with it and started again rather than just ditching the pattern.
this is 2 days into celtic noel, as one of them was a bank hoilday i achieved a fair bit in the time.SPC~12 ot 124

Thanks everyone!
I'm glad you liked the fabric, Ruth. I dyed it myself a few years ago and was glad to find something to us it for. You can get so sick of white and cream as backgrounds!! My current cross stitch is being worked on black...
Good progress mmp and jcs1!
Oh and yes, Bank Holiday Monday was a washout here too. The Show closed early as it was rained off (not good!). Having said that, it was colder yesterday and I'm getting really tempted to put the heating on. There's something deeply offensive to me about using the central heating in August!:DElizabeth

I hope to put it in the kitchen but think I will have to take something down to make space. Haven't really got much wall space in our small kitchen - shame we have to have wall cupboards. :rotfl:Elizabeth_Braun wrote: »
Well done on all your XS progress. Absolutely LOVE that olive oil 'label', b-e-g!
Congrats to you, Sweetcarer on your 4 prizes. You beat me, I got two 1sts and two 3rds, but as it was my first year in the show and that was four prizes out of five entries, I'm not complaining.:D
The cross stitch category wins:

And the embroidery wins:
Show regulations are that the piece must have been done within the last three years, so these are from 2012 - 2014.
Well done on your awards Elizabeth. Your pieces look gorgeous. That little rabbit looks so cute.

Fab pics MrsM :T All your hard work/heartache has certainly paid dividends with Titanic. Great progress with Celtic Noel.
The end is nigh as far as thread sort out goes. Well I've run out of bobbins but hope to get some more tomorrow. I was debating about listing on a spreadsheet all spare duplicate threads before I store them away. Does that sound a bit OCD

elizabeth congratulations on your well deserved awards; all of the pieces are lovely and I agree with the comments about the dyed fabric
mrsmp great progress on Celtic Noel - I keep mine on display for 3 months not just for Christmas which I suppose is one reason I haven't done Celtic Winter. I didn't stitch the word Noel so it just looks like a lady in red. If all 4 were displayed together it might look a bit odd but as I rotate them it's fine. It is approaching the time for Celtic Summer to come down and be replaced by Celtic Autumn
Titanic looks superb - well done on doing it again - I'm not sure I would have been able to face that but it was so worthwhile. Great framing
Dictionary design is great. My dictionary of cakes is always a talking point
jcs Is that one of the John Clayton elegant ladies?
beg I know what you mean by the challenge of finding space to hang cross stitch in a kitchen - my kitchen is quite small, has 3 doors plus wall cupboards and the few spaces are fully tiled so that and the bathroom are the only xs free zones in my home. Even the separate "smallest room" has XS on the walls:D
Pity it isn't another 3 day weekend. We're going to a wedding so not much stitching time available for me.0 -
beg If listing duplicate threads will help you when you are buying new threads then rather than being OCD it's :money:
One small finish from me - it's a pincushion from a free design by The Primitive Hare which made me smile as soon as I saw it
Pincushion by stitchwitchhazel, on Flickr
Fabric was tea dyed by me, threads, scrap of fabric for patch, stuffing and buttons came from stash so with the pattern also being free this was a :money: project0
