    Hi Everyone

Thank you for your kind comments.

On for a wee bit before dinner.

I have done my twisted band on white evenweave - using 32hpi. I will get the new one but won't do it as yet. Going to use the same colours as twisted band (all DMC).

I have never stitched on dark colours before so I don't know if I would be any good at it.

I bought a job lot years ago when one of my favourite stitching stores was closing down - got them for about 20p each but they are framecraft ones - here is some here

    http://www.crystalclearcrafts.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=48&products_id=691

Maybe ebay will have some up some days -they used come with free gifts with magazine charts years back too.

Well I got a bargain off facebook - stash unload page - 18hpi white aida (block) 100x135cm for £15 and about 8 metallic reels (maderia) for £6. Think I will use the aida when I eventually start my real counties of Britain black work - need to check size - if it doesn't fit I can think of a few other things to use it for. I won't be doing it in black - using colours - blue for Scotland, green for Wales and red for England. Need to think what shades too.

    Keep well everyone

Lol! I've got that one in my stash too. It's a monster, isn't it? I think it's about 65cm x 100cm if I remember correctly. I've got the evenweave and black threads for it. Need the metallics still.

Off topic so please forgive me....I've just purchased a poppy from the Tower of London display. They are on sale now for £25 plus £5.95 shipping. I read earlier this week that over 100,000 had already been sold so I wanted to get one before they sold out!

On topic - started the Michael Powell Christmas cottage last night as I couldn't wait for my holiday - my bad!!!

    Have a good day all.

    Hi Girls,

Another band done (no. 10) done in the twisted band sampler - this contained satin stitch, rhodes stitch and the new one - tied windmill.

So here is (mostly) all together

    111_1744_zpsa86c9ed4.jpg

and here is the close up

    111_1747_zpsb785e1d0.jpg

I have not done it totally as on design - my own wee unique point.

As I done a new stitch in this - a new addition to my wee stitch book

    tied windmill

Better get on with my learning sampler - bit behind with it (due to doing baby stitch and engagement stitch) - having trouble with queens stitch - asked the designer for advice but its because of the material I am using - so have decided to do a version of queens - or ½ queens as I am calling them - will post picture later.

    Kind wishes to all

  • Still lurking I'm afraid. :(

Had a really hectic week of highs and lows which included funeral and wedding - thankfully the wedding was at the end of the week so we ended on a bit of a high thank goodness.

Red Tree has now been framed and will try to get it on the wall this week and will take an update picture.

I have made myself take time out this afternoon and a good chunk of this evening to make a start on the beading of Mill Hill kit. I was totally dreading starting it as I have only ever stitched a couple of beads here and there in the past. Just trying to sort the beads seemed to be a marathon task in itself - however I will confirm that a start has been made but have a feeling that it is going to take a very long time. I was on the verge of putting it to one side to start something else but I just knew then that it would become a ufo and that was a definite no no :D

I do keep popping in to the Cafe each day and really admire all the beautiful work that has been done. Well done everyone :T

Some of the Cafe regulars appear to be mia - hope everyone is ok and just too busy to post.

I have had the girl with comos in my stash of things to do for ages, but nobody to do it for,it's lovely.
As for the poppies,I've got tears in my eyes just thinking of them the Tower of London stops you in your tracks ,it's so poignant,

The twisted band is just amazing, the colours are gorgeous, the stitch book is a clever idea to remind you how to do the various stitches.
The counties of U.K is fantastic, what a bargain,I think doing them in different colours would look really dramatic.

Looking foreword to seeing red tree framed, you are brave never had the nerve to do beads, not sure my eyes are up to it!!,will watch with interest how you get on.

Grandsons plus two dogs arriving for the week, not a lot will get done.
    Happy stitching everyone.

    Afternoon,

2 finishes lately, first one was surname coat of arms (not got a picture as it makes me very identifiable with the Pinterest thing......)

That's exactly how I feel sometimes - especially on dark and cold winter mornings. Lovely colours and stitching.

I've also got together the threads for the mini Michael Powell cottage to take away on holiday. We are going to Cyprus for two weeks and I'm not sure a beach/pool holiday is conducive to stitching but hey ho!

I always take some cross stitch on holiday with me. I can get an awful lot done on a four hour flight! I don't stitch whilst on the beach/by the pool but will do it in the evenings when we are in a bar or the hotel lounge.

Off to Zante in 26 days:cool: and am thinking about a small Halloween Cat project from my stash.

Need to check I have everything I need in the next week.

Looks lovely of course and you are making great progress. If you want to see the new rainbow twisted band sampler Mrs MilkyBarKid has uploaded a WiP photo to the Cafe's Flickr group https://flic.kr/p/oEMMXn It looks stunning on black
