ems, your Christmas cupcakes are lovely and you've inspired me, I've decided to make the Lucie Heaton Snow Globes for my cards this year and I'm going to buy a compass cutter to make the apertures :D Link for anyone else wanting them I'm sure they were in one of the mags too http://www.lucieheaton.com/index.php?p=ecom&sw=fullproduct&productid=599

Mrs Ceejay, thanks for advice on RF, I was having issues reading the chart so I've enlarged & sharpened it, it seems to be helping :)

Hope you can make progress on RF now you have enlarged the chart. I often photocopy charts on to A3 size as my working copy so I can see symbols easier. Especially useful with the dreaded confetti stitching

    Love the snow globes.

I have to enlarge some charts as some times there is so many symbols and chart so small they all run in to one another, got new glasses but they don't always help at nighttime.
It never occurred to me you could buy a gadget to cut the round shapes out of cards, simple when somebody points it out to you.
The Christmas globes are lovely,am very tempted, fingers are twitching!!

  • This is beautiful. Exquisite work, worth waiting until you were able to post photos. Did you design as well as stitch it?

Thank you! It is a lovely design, isn't it? Alas, I am not experienced enough to come up with something like that myself. On my first (failed) attempt to post photo links, I did actually give all the gen, but I didn't re-type it the second time. Here goes: It's designed by Sue Page and appeared in 'World of Cross Stitching' issue 60, back in Julu 2002. The next piece I want to do is also from that issue and I did another one from there about 10 years ago. Mags these days just can't compare with the level of detail of these older ones....:(

Mrs Moneypenny: Thanks for the link, I'll check that out. I want to get through some of my more academic books really (where I could use some 'de-stashing') and perhaps some of my classic fiction. Thanks for the watchpoint, I'll try not to get over-interested in what others are reading!!:D

Coxy11: Thanks! I love your little girl too.

So, I hope to get a new project into progress soon - when I've put in the needed 3 hours or so that remain on my one, last UFO :j Posting WIP photos might not be possible though as I only post completed projects to my Flickr and I'm not sure if the forum will 'take' links from Picasa/Google+ albums. I can try, but I don't want to break any rules....:o

I remember the Sue Page designs. She seemed to specialise in figures and there were lots I really liked though I don't think I ever stitched one of them. The face in petit point is lovely and as you say the level of detail really makes the piece
  • If anyone "needs" a new kit Blacksheepwools have 15% off their clearance lines at the moment and there are some nice things in there including Tatty Teddy and lots of Disney. I really like the Winnie the Pooh name plates but I don't have anyone to stitch one for at the moment so I resisted temptation. Anyone who goes to craft shows will know the company and the service is very good in my experience

Hope everyone has a good day
