    Evening everyone

    Lovely updates as usual.

Must admit I don't normally like samplers but some of the ones you have been doing lately look really good so I'm very tempted to add some to my ever increasing list ;)

I'm back to work tomorrow so have been stitching all day trying to block it out.....managed to finish another page of Elvis :D

Need to decide whether to stitch his face now or finish the side piece...decisions decisions...

Hope everyone has a relaxing week x

I think I would have to finish the face as it looks so lifelike

This is the one I have being doing for the last couple of years, and I am determined I am going to do it this year so wish me luck.
It's not a difficult pattern just lots of different thickness of threads, some have one thread and the dark brown has all six.
The araba lady is for me but i'am not sure what sort of frame or even what colour any ideas would be helpful.

This looks great and will be worth putting in the effort to finish it

I like the look of the background fabric on your Arab lady so would have that showing rather than use a mount. Would a white frame work ? Or perhaps a very light wood. Matt gold might also work

Looking forward to seeing what you decide to do

    Thanks,flowerofscotland,
I hadn't thought of a Matt gold frame, tried a white one but it didn't look right, like you I thought no mount but that's as far as I got, keep my eye out for a frame, charity shop maybe!

Think I've sussed the Flickr link system.:) Other stitching styles on the 'Soulie' thread.

This is beautiful. Exquisite work, worth waiting until you were able to post photos. Did you design as well as stitch it?
  • love everyones update photos, you are all doing such beautiful stitching. the arabian lady looks fantasic with the needle point hands and face.

Elvis is gorgeous cant wait to see more of him.

love the bead detail in the tudor lady.

    the leopard looks so realistic

and all the samplers look fantastic.

more done on homes over the weekend but ive been neglecting the back stitch so will have loads to do at the end.

I did that with Dictinary of Cakes and it became a UFO

I have subsequently finished and framed it but I vowed that if I ever do another Dictionary design (and I do love them) I would do the bs as I completed each square

ems, your Christmas cupcakes are lovely and you've inspired me, I've decided to make the Lucie Heaton Snow Globes for my cards this year and I'm going to buy a compass cutter to make the apertures :D Link for anyone else wanting them I'm sure they were in one of the mags too http://www.lucieheaton.com/index.php?p=ecom&sw=fullproduct&productid=599

Mrs Ceejay, thanks for advice on RF, I was having issues reading the chart so I've enlarged & sharpened it, it seems to be helping :)

there you go Elizabeth, trouble is other people post what they are reading and it makes you (well me anyway) want to look out for those books as well:rotfl:
i use this thread in tandem with the good reads .com website as i have most of my books listed on there and am trying to read 30 in 2014.
    OFF TOPIC

I read this thread from time to time as I have 100s of books both read and unread But like you said I usually find something else to add to my wish list which rather defeats the object :D
Have just started reading the first for the Jessica Daniels books by Kerry Wilkinson and I've just finished all of the Tony Hill/Carol Jordan books by Val Mcdermid. A completely different type of book which I loved and would thoroughly recommend is Longbourne by Jo Baker where the main characters are servants in the households featured in Pride and Prejudice
