Thanks, b-e-g (me too, btw - blue eyes!!). I like your tree, very striking!
I think you're right to knock the mags on the head. I'm still using some I bought more than a decade ago and, to be honest, I think they're much better than what's available nowadays. I like the older, more detailed designs.Elizabeth

Well done to all the people who have posted pics for great work.
Not been around too much lately but I have managed to complete the Red Tree.
Have got the frame on standby but hubby has a really nasty cold atm so I think it will have to wait a little while.
Have started a Mill Hill kit (one of the ones DS bought me for Christmas). All I can say so far is that I think that it is going to be a challenge. Have never stitched on perforated paper before - ok but the thread keeps getting caught on the sides and corner of the paper. Then there are all those beads  I have only ever stitched a couple at a time on project. Just sorting these (three little bags) will be a challenge in itself. It's probably good to step out of your comfort zone now and again
nmm - re offer on WOCS. I tried to order this a about a month ago and when it didn't arrive I contacted them and they got in touch with the publishers who said that they were unable to fulfil the order and therefore no dd had been set up. No other explanation was given - was wondering if it is because I have had several of the 5 for £5 offers. Decided to give the mags a rest and concentrate on using up the stash I have. Quite often the mags were only getting a quick glance through and maybe stitching the free gift.
Will try to pop back in a little more often.

Looks amazing. Hope you will soon be able to get it framed and on display
How are you feeling?0 -
Morning all.
b_e_g your red tree looks wonderful. Such an eyecatching design.
Coxy I love your cushion. I'd love to be able to crochet, but have never got the hang of it. A lady I used to work with tried to teach me in our lunch breaks, but I could never seem to get the tension right. Daisy girl is coming along well too. I have another in that range in my stash and looking forward to doing that eventually.
Remembrance Fields and Elvis are coming along really well too.
I have picked up my cross stitch again after a little break. You might remember I was doing a piece for my Mum's birthday (which was back in May) I'm going up to visit her on 15th August, so need to get it finished by then so I can deliver it personally. I'd better get cracking! Here is a little update.

The design is 10" x 11" so I think I will either have to have it professionally framed or have one made to measure. Any tips from those of you who frame your own pieces? Do you use a sticky backing board?
Better get back to work now. No fun at the best of times, but especially not at this time of year as my "office" is in the conservatory and it gets unbearably hot in the afternoon. I will probably have to decamp to the kitchen with my laptop later.
I love this I really like this designer
I'm another one who can't get the hang of crochet - but then I really don't need another hobby:D0 -
I finished my Jane Austen piece last night.
It combines 2 of my passions - reading and stitching so I am pleased with it.image by stitchyfeather, on Flickr

Me too. I only wish I could do both at once, but sometimes books on tape fill the need.:p
Well done fos! Looks great.Elizabeth

Hi everyone,
First day of the hols here for DS2 and we have been food shopping! DS1 and DD finish today.
nmm - lovely crochet pattern for your blanket. Not sure I'd attempt something that big yet, I'm very much a learner!
*Louise* - so annoying about your threads. Hope you can complete your piece soon.
Mrs ceejay - petit points look good, but I share your dislike of them!
Flat Eric/Elizabeth Braun - helloooo!
beg - Red Tree is amazing. I love the flow of it and even though it's not symmetrical in anyway, I love the order of it iyswim? I'm a virgo and love neat and tidiness!!
*BigBird* - Grandmas House is looking fab.
fos - love your Jane Austen piece, it's very traditional.
Not a lot of stitching done this week. Just can't seem to settle down with it, as it's so hot here in Kent. There are also jobs to do in the garden, so needs must.
Take care all

I second that. It's almost a joy being at work as my office is air conditioned! Our department is one of the few in the Hospital that is and I have noticed an increased number of visitors lately
Finished my traditional sampler last night, so will take photos at the weekend for Flickr. Have a couple of pairs of baby boots to knit before starting my next cross stitch project. Am thinking about Starry starry night but too scared to get the chart out and look at it :eek:Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -

Fos the Jane Austen piece is lovely, The quilt sounds an interesting project and can't wait to see that develop next year.
Bigbird Grandma's house is coming on well.
Have started a small card just to get my stitching mojo back again and it's going well. Hoping to get that finished today then get my trinket boxes finished.0
