  • nmm: Love the look of your big WIP. Looking forward to seeing more.

pm2326: SewandSo are wonderful, aren't they? NOT a good place to save money though....=)

I've just had a major cross stitch finish, but as I still can't post links or photos, I'll have to save it for later to showcase... :(

  • Thanks so much, nmm! Yes, I'm new to the Caf, but not a new stitcher. I've been a keen embroideress (many different styles) for a good decade so far and have no intention of stopping.

I've just completed a Tudor Lady costume piece with fab beading, metallics and whatnot (but just spotted 2 missed stitches on my photos.....!), and have cut out the fabric for a Paradise Island piece next, which I plan to make up into a cushion for my hubby's room. I won't start that until I've done a small, self-designed blackwork piece for a blog challenge I'm running and got another moved forward a bit. I'm expecting to start next month.

Sure, I'll share just as soon as I can! Hope that'll be quick as you're not the only kind person to express an interest.:)

  • Wow ems, I'm really impressed with your craft busting results! 142 projects so far! How long has that taken?

I've actually only been crafting for just under two years, so I guess in that time! It may be a little less, cos it would have been since I joined the stash busting group here. Some are bigger projects, some are smaller.
  • :TGood for you! You're very productive - I like that a lot!:T

Welcome to the Cafe Elizabeth - looking forward to seeing your pics. Keeping popping into the Cafe and I'm sure it won't be too long before you can post some to share with us.

Well done to all the people who have posted pics for great work.

Not been around too much lately but I have managed to complete the Red Tree.

    Red%20Tree%20-%20July%202014.jpg

Have got the frame on standby but hubby has a really nasty cold atm so I think it will have to wait a little while.

Have started a Mill Hill kit (one of the ones DS bought me for Christmas). All I can say so far is that I think that it is going to be a challenge. Have never stitched on perforated paper before - ok but the thread keeps getting caught on the sides and corner of the paper. Then there are all those beads  I have only ever stitched a couple at a time on project. Just sorting these (three little bags) will be a challenge in itself. It's probably good to step out of your comfort zone now and again :D

nmm - re offer on WOCS. I tried to order this a about a month ago and when it didn't arrive I contacted them and they got in touch with the publishers who said that they were unable to fulfil the order and therefore no dd had been set up. No other explanation was given - was wondering if it is because I have had several of the 5 for £5 offers. Decided to give the mags a rest and concentrate on using up the stash I have. Quite often the mags were only getting a quick glance through and maybe stitching the free gift.

Will try to pop back in a little more often.

    Morning all.

b_e_g your red tree looks wonderful. Such an eyecatching design.

Coxy I love your cushion. I'd love to be able to crochet, but have never got the hang of it. A lady I used to work with tried to teach me in our lunch breaks, but I could never seem to get the tension right. Daisy girl is coming along well too. I have another in that range in my stash and looking forward to doing that eventually.

Remembrance Fields and Elvis are coming along really well too.

I have picked up my cross stitch again after a little break. You might remember I was doing a piece for my Mum's birthday (which was back in May :o) I'm going up to visit her on 15th August, so need to get it finished by then so I can deliver it personally. I'd better get cracking! Here is a little update.

The design is 10" x 11" so I think I will either have to have it professionally framed or have one made to measure. Any tips from those of you who frame your own pieces? Do you use a sticky backing board?

Better get back to work now. No fun at the best of times, but especially not at this time of year as my "office" is in the conservatory and it gets unbearably hot in the afternoon. I will probably have to decamp to the kitchen with my laptop later.
