  • I've also got the Four Streets on my Kindle. Will have to move it up the reading list. I've just started the latest in the Tony Hill series by Val Mcdermid - Cross and Burn. I had read some of the others years ago but decided to read them all in order and will be very sorry when this one us finished knowing there isn't another (yet)
Was stuck on a delayed train from London on Thursday and didn't mind because I was reading The Retribution (the penultimate book). Train was jammed so needed something to take my mind off the journey

Louise. Anniversary piece is beautiful. And of course totally unique. What a wonderful gift

    pm. Great progress on Elvis

mrsmp. Love dictionary of homes. These designs are so effective but they do take quite a while to stitch. All that BABS :D

I purchased a chart of the Man City crest to stitch. It was only when I downloaded it and looked at the skeins needed (43:eek: - and that's only 4 colours!) that I realised it's massive. Finished design size is 23 x 27.5 inches.

Really going to have to read the descriptions in future:rotfl:

    Hi All

Thank you for all your kind wishes regarding my stitching - all your work is lovely. I have given in to temptation and bought 2 more needle minders - will post pics when I get them, found another FB page with lovely needle fobs - think I will need to let people know these places so they have ideas for my birthday and christmas.

Have now finished band 10 of the learning sampler - only 8 more to go :)

Can't get a good photo of it on the chair as I used to show it all so put it over bit of wood and towel - its approx 14" long

    And for its close up

Feeling a bit tired today, the week is catching up on me, so think I will have a wee nap and then maybe more stitching.

    Keep well everyone

    Hi ladies.

Mrsmp. Nice DOH update, look forward to more.

beg. Hope you feel better soon.

Louise. I'm not surprised the recipients loved the sampler, it's really nice.

pm. Nice Elvis update, look forward to more.

JCS. Oh dear, that crest is going to be huge! Should keep you busy for a while though :D

Sweetcarer. Lovely update, look forward to more.

A little off topic but it's been spoken about before.....I found a copy of The Time Travellers Wife in a charity shop yesterday. I remembered a few of you saying it was really good and worth a read so I couldn't leave it there, it was only £1.25. When I got home I searched this thread for the comments about it because I was sure it was quite recently it was mentioned. My memory isn't what it used to be, I had to go back as far as 2012 :o
Also bought a guide to Astronomy for £1. I have always been fascinated with the Moon and what is going on in the sky. I was like a kid in a sweet shop when the ISS was visible recently, loved it, it looked the same everytime I saw it but just couldn't help wanting to see it again and again.
:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:

ah I think he'll love it!

Have done some more stitching earlier today but my fingers are starting to hurt from pushing the needle through due to hands being dry at the minute....so giving it a rest for the remainder of the day so they can recover

    Hi everyone
Still here, just not much time to stitch, I will be doing some later, so I'll post update
    Everyone's stitching looks amazing
    Well done xx
  • Hi everyone, not much stitching done 4 me lately. Loving all the updates :D

I have managed to find buy a vintage 1920's wooden fire guard that has a large panel which has nothing in it but has a glass panel in the front (over the wood) and all for the princely sum of £2! However, I don't have a clue what design to stitch to put in it.

Has anyone ever stitched a piece for a fire guard and if so, what did you stitch?
