  • Good morning stitchers

Louise. How are you? Good to hear you are stitching again

Just popping by to show Stitching Row framed (collected it yesterday) and also the coaster I made from a birthday card I received a few years ago. Thanks to Mrs mp who reminded me about it and prompted me to get it out of the drawer and on display. Also did what Louise suggested in a previous post and included the name of the stitcher in the back of the coaster

Won't have time for stitching today as expecting visitors soon

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend whatever you are doing and hugs to those who need them

Lamb card completed, will be ideal for mothers day at the end of this month (we have about 20 lambs at the moment). Didn't stitch the bird on it's back though - the designer mustn't be aware that some large birds peck the eyes of new born lambs.

    Hello girls,

Sorry I have been missing in action but I do lurk and admire all that you are doing - don't mean to be so "off" with people.

That is pretty - when I done the journal cover - I thought of putting in an A5 binder with a plastic front - like a presentation binder - have ordered one from Eb@y so see when it arrives if it will work. I learned how to type on a typewriter - its a dying art now to do touch typing.

That is stunning - I do have a soft spot for alphabets and samplers.

So here is my latest work finished - a wee baby sampler for one of the girls at work.

    Baby stitch.

Wishing wages day will come so I can order the material and threads for Mums memory stitch - the designer recommends Au Ver a Soie but the cheapest I can find are £2.75 each and I need 18 - so I think I will be sticking with DMC - 40p each. Should look just as good with DMC I am sure. I will put some text at bottom in gold thread - but what is a good metallic to use - I have never really used any - so what do you recommend - DMC, Kreink, Maderia, etc?

Off to do a bit more on the learning sampler -I am a wee bit behind, only on part 6 (meant to be complete in February).

    Keep well everyone.

    sweetcarer ;)

I received both Cross Stitcher and Cross Stitch Card shop this week - was quite impressed with Cross Stitcher - not so sure about Cross Stitch Card Shop. Wasn't too keen on the free kit but having seen the finished piece, it does look cute.

I'm sorted four bags of clothes for recycling today - so that's cleared some space and I've started to go through the mags and have put for recycling all non stitchy mags - old puzzle mags / cooking mags etc.

meanwhile, if you subscribe to world of cross stitching and have issue 210 (the one with tatty ted holding a big christmas parcel in his hands) can you remind me what the free kit was? I remember eagerly anticipating this mag as I recall the free kit was cute and that the mag also had a cute cat design in it by peter underhill but I can't seem to find this issue anywhere and its bugging me now why I liked it so much !!

Louise- great idea about the poppies! Your baby project sounds lovely, I look forward to the pics.

b_e_g- they might send you a replacement kit, but hopefully a different one lol.

Ems- lovely colourful design. This is going to be fab when finished.

Fos- stitching row is lovely, the frame really sets it off. Great idea making a coaster from your card, it's lovely.

JCS1- that lamb is so cute! Is that the one that b_e_g has been having problems with?

sweetcarer- you certainly don't come across as "off" to me. I lurk a lot of the time too as I very often don't have any stitching to update on, or just struggle for the time to comment on all posts since my last post. You have had a lot on your plate recently so I'm sure no-one thinks you're being off at all. Your baby sampler us lovely, great design for any new baby. Sorry I don't know anything about metallic threads. I am having to use some in my Golden Wedding Sampler but I am not enjoying it at all (just the metallic stitching that is, loving the rest of it) but don't know what brand it is.

    ^^That is looking lovely :)

Sweetcarer- I wasn't aware that you have been 'off' with anyone...in fact I would bet you haven't been at all. I hope you're getting by, it's not easy :(

Regarding the metallic thread, I would suggest Kreinik, I have found it easier to work with.

FOS- I'm not too bad thank you, have some appointment dates through so got them to 'look forward' to :) I love your alphabet, you didn't hang about getting that framed- it looks great! :D

love everyones stitching just looked at all the beautiful photos they are all gorgeous

sweetcarer you are certainly not coming across as 'off' look after yourself and take each day as it comes

BEG sorry to hear lamb caused you so many problems i think i would do the same. infat i did with a poppy kit only the other week. id started it last yesr an used the back stitch thread for the darkest colour which ran out and threw the colours out, i tried to improvise by changing the colours to hades of mauves and purples but after spending a week on it realised the colours didnt blend and looked terrible together so that went in the bin. i will do it again using the colours that came with it.
