Thanks for the lovely comments :) I do love BD but I can't wait to do something a bit brighter hence the poppy field. I would love to do a sunflower picture as they are my favourite, I have a couple of photos that I might convert for that though. What do you guys think?

  • sweetcarer Thanks for popping by. So sorry to hear you are not getting the support you need from your family as this distressing time.

I also bought Twisted Band Sampler and it is definitely on my to do list but other projects have to take priority at the moment. Lovely idea to stitch it in memory of your Mum.

beg My suggestion for helping someone to start XS is "the simpler the better" I have recently taught 2 colleagues - absolute beginners so we did a single initial using 14 count aida and DMC Variegated thread for some interest. They completed these quite quickly and I mounted them into coasters so they had a sense of achievement almost straight away.

chicky Your version of Grandma looks wonderful. I will have to change or omit the "cherries" as well after your comments :rotfl:

    Love your Apache wedding sampler

cupcakequeen Welcome to the cafe Sewandso is a good place to start looking at charts and kits as you can search by keywords such as wedding

tricksie Your cafe design is already looking great
Love Overlook Cafe - beautiful colours
Beautiful traditional sampler - am very jealous of you having lots of stitching time while on holiday :D I agree Quaker is a lovely fabric to stitch on and very appropriate for the sampler design

beg I thought my 3 for £3 offer had finished but I received a copy yesterday as well - not that I'm complaining about it :D

mrsmp Tulips design is really nice and I agree that the way it has been framed really enhances the stitching

    ericsmum Love your poppies

I used to use my pressure cooker often but can't recall the last time. It has been replaced by the slow cooker for casserole type dishes. I'm another one who can remember my Mum having disasters with hers

nmm great update on BD. Both sunflowers photos are stunning but I prefer the one with the butterfly as it adds scale. The weekly updates would be fab

mrsceejay great news about your dinosaurs piece being so well received (as it should be but you can never be certain)
  • Didn't do any actual stitching during until the weekend as I finished a job I had been putting off for ages. 2 years ago I was lucky enough to receive a DMC wooden box for storing DMC threads (empty because I have lots of DMC threads)

    7600A-m.jpg

Well I finally finished putting one of each colour into the box and putting my duplicate colours into numbered plastic bags so that it should be easy to find colours when I need them.

Then in spite of a busy weekend I managed to finish my Superhero name plate and take it to be framed - forgot to take picture of finished piece but here is the most up to date photo I have

And then I worked on my wedding sampler - felt really pleased with myself at the progress I had made but when I took it out of the frame spot the NOT deliberate mistake

The 2 rows of gold rings are 1 square out of alignment so I row has to be unpicked and re-stitched. After all the years I have been stitching I still make stupid mistakes like this

    Lovely pics ladies.

    nmm sunflowers are gorgeous.

fos - I wouldn't have noticed the mistake - I had to study it to find it. I bet the name stitch will go down well and I love your thread box.

chicky - spiderman looks great. How many more squares have you got left to stitch?

Made a start on the little lamb that came with Card Shop but couldn't do too much last night as it is all white and very light cream on white. The quality of thread is very poor - it seems almost hairy.

    Have a good day everyone

Loving all the updates from you all. Must start looking for a wedding card chart for my BFF. Wedding is in October but I also need to do a silver wedding piece for another couple. Too many projects and not enough time as per usual :o

    Have a good day all.
