as promised ... here is the Ursula Michael 'grandma' update
Tis getting there, tho I think I'm going to have to unpick the right hand side of the apron as I think I need more space (incorrectly counted).loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

Looks great. Love the variegated thread you've used. I was planning to use a variegated when I stitch it
I know what you mean about mixing upper and lower case. I would probably have lived with the grandma but I will have to change the spelling of favorite. I've already looked at the pattern and I think I can squeeze in a U. And I will probably copy your adaptation of Grandma :T
What a shame no one has found Bear. You couldn't have done any more
See what you and Ailsb mean about the headless woman :rotfl: I've stitched quite a few designs by this designer and she often has dresses on stands so it didn't occur to me or to DH0 -

hadn't even noticed 'favorite' If you miss out the lopsided cupcake (replace with a heart) then it should be easy to put a 'u' in. ah welll. I had to change 'mimi' to 'mum' as I couldn't have lived with that one :rotfl: the 'r's aren't too hard to change as you just miss out the bottom bits its the 'D's and 'E's that take the work.loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. Thanks for the tips0 -
coxy. You sound like you've got a lot on. Pictures of your 3 finished stockings would be wonderful
I've seen the Nia range and think it's lovely the way they do Welsh versions
nmmBD is amazing
mrsmp. Linen is my favourite fabric for cross stitching especially Zweigart linen which is softer then Permin linen. Love what you stitched and agree it would make a great cushion centre
Tiger cub looks really cute
It's very frustrating to find that the kit from your Mum is such poor quality but I wouldn't waste valuable stitching time on it PERHaps you can salvage the needle

Hello girls,
Sorry I have not been about much but have been stitching - finished an exchange card for Easter for one of the FB groups I am in.
It is an adapted DMC freebie and I used beads instead of french knots and threads I had hanging around (think they were Anchor).
Going to start a wee baby stitch - my usual wee teddy for one of the girls at work.
The wedding sampler, got a thank you from the groom but no official one - but the wedding is not for ages yet.
I have decided I am going to do the twisted band sampler in memory of my mum - it will be 4 weeks tomorrow and I can't stop crying during the night - sorry for being so maudlin. Dad is not showing us any affection but hes not that kind of guy but I am missing it and my sister is being really upsetting to me.
Here is the twisted band sampler for those who haven't seen it before, it uses a variety of stitches as well as cross stitch, though reading on the designers (brill girl, really helpful and talks to you) FB page she has designed it with just cross stitches.
I may not post every day but I do lurk and love seeing what you are all up to and thank you all for your kindness towards me - it is much appreciated.
Keep well everyone
sweetcarer:j cross stitch forever, housework whenever :j0 -
JCS1 - blackwork lady is beautiful. Your work is so neat. :T
chicky - not far to go on the apron now. Bet your Mum will love it.
sweetcarer - lovely to see you in the Cafe. Your exchange card looks great :T. Great idea to do twisted sampler in memory of Mum. So sorry to hear that you are not getting support from family that you deserve - you know we are all here for you. Take care of yourself x
No knitting done here today - shopping this morning then appt at hairdressers. Then coloured bff's hair and DH has just made me a lovely hot chocolate before I am back out again.
My friend spotted some cross stitch kits when she had to go to a little post office for work and was wondering whether or not to give it a go. I was thinking for trying to put her a kit together out of the stash I have just a case of trying to sort a chart out that will suit a total beginner and not put her off for life. :rotfl:
Hope you all have a great weekend everyone

Look lovely, I couldn't have coped with the mixed capitals either! Looking at your picture in the hoop I'm thinking I put mine in wrong, I have the fabric going over the middle bit not under it :think:DD born 14/12/11

I don't think it matters. I stitched for years that way until someone suggested the 'in the well' method. I like it because it hides the annoying tightening pin i always caught threads on.
anyways - tis finished :j:j (and I did have to re-stitch the apron outside.
Next to ' BEST' I have done a weird symbol
if anyone knows what it was supposed to be please let me know (I couldn't bring myself to stitch it as it was either appalling cherries or piles I couldn't decide :rotfl:)
onto superheros for a bit I think...... eurghhh that means the horrible huge frame  any tips?loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0
