i fancied a change from back stitch tonight so had a rummage through my stash and found a pack of fabrics i won a couple of years ago from one of the magazines. ive got a piece of linen and am having a play with some varigated thread. cant remember the spelling as ive put the pak back in the cupboard it starts with Z im sure youll know it (ill have a look next time im in the cupboard). anyway the linen is the most beautiful fabric ive ever stitched on, im really enjoying doing this.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0 -

Warning – Mega Post.
Ok, I can’t find when I last commented on everyone’s work so apologies if I have missed you – it’s not deliberate. I chosen to go back a week or so and comment. I have to wait until I can use my hubbys computer before I can do this as it’s so hard to do on my tablet. The odd comment on the tablet is fine but anything else is a pain – sorry.
Mrs CJ – your dinosaur picture was lovely I bet the recipient was really pleased with it.
EM – I love the Poppy design you have chosen. I really like poppies but I struggle top stitch them as they remind me of my Mum too much. She did some lovely Poppy designs. Lovely progress, it’s so bright it’s great.
Tricksie – your Caf! is really unusual the way it’s the inside of the caf! looking out. I’ve not seen this design before.
Nmm – your BD update is great as normal. How much do you have left of it? You can’t have too much more to do now. – Your last update has answered my question. Absolutely fantastic update it’s beautiful.
BEG – your Family Tree is framed lovely, it’s really different having a flowered mount, really nice touch. Good luck with the knitting. I do enjoy knitting but don’t enjoy sewing the items together.
Louise – I hope you are feeling better and get your results soon. It’s horrible not knowing what’s wrong, I think at least once you know what you are up against you can make a start on getting better. African Horizon is lovely, I have similar well it’s probably nothing like it It’s on red canvas and is a silhouette of a lady fetching water. I think you should email the magazine as well.
Shelly – good to hear your news. So nice to have positive news at the moment.
MrsTM – some lovely makes. I think it’s wise to be doing smaller designs whilst you are struggling to concentrate. Keep taking things a day at a time and you will find that things will get better.
JCS1 – thanks for the heads up on the quilts. I went and looked the other day and was pleased to see my finished deign there at least I think it was mine I couldn’t see my signature and there were a couple of squares very similar.
FE – hope you are feeling better. I had a similar dilemma with my magazines. I tried the culling route and only keeping patterns I thought I’d use in a file – I now have 3 of these files which I hardly ever look at. I got rid of magazines to a charity shop and I’ve also tried scanning patterns in that I think I’d use. I have actually used some of these. I have also given some of my magazines to other cross stitchers and felt good for doing this as I knew they would be used. My latest route was to buy a square storage table from Ikea, it cost about £19, which I have in the conservatory. I have almost filed this so don’t know what my next move is. Good luck with your chosen route.
Mrs MP – your tiger is looking lovely. I am sure it will make a lovely cushion. What do you do with the cushions? I know that sounds a daft question but any cushions I make get “used” by the family, they sit on them, lie on them and generally mess them around. Any ideas on how to stop them doing this?
Sweetcarer – your wedding sampler is really nice. You are so kind to have thought about someone else when you are suffering yourself.
Emily – I would have voted for the sampler you went for as well. Looking forward to seeing your progress. Your little cat is lovely, is it earmarked for someone?
FOS – I like your chosen wedding sampler. I must think about making a start on the Sewing one. Your newly framed piece is lovely it’s such a buzz when your other half really likes something that you’ve done.
Coxy – glad the skiing went well. Was it one of your Scouts on the Radio 2 breakfast show yesterday morning? If so they were telling the world how fantastic it was. If it wasn’t I’m sure the rest of the Scouts enjoyed it, unfortunately there’s normally one ungrateful little ****. I run a Cub pack so I know how disheartening it is when someone makes a comment even if they say it as a joke. Keep up the good work.
Chicky – I hope you find little bear.
My update – I’ve finished the full skirt on the last wife and have started the bodice, however I have a stinking cold and my eyes keep running so I can’t stitch at the moment. Also, my nephew and his wife moved today so I need to do them a new home piece. Thinking of using the Home Sweet Home design from the Dictionary of Homes design. This means Henry will have to take a back seat. Also, my hubby bought me a cross stitch for valentines day – we normally don’t bother. Its only a basic kit on 14 count and is of a gnome sitting on a ball of wool knitting from a spiders web. Will try to post a picture of it at some point. Have promised myself I won’t start it until Henry is finished.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Mrs T_M, the owls are cute, perfect for a nursery, good luck with getting pregnant
Hopefully it won't take long to get pregnant again. I've heard that you're more fertile after a miscarriage, but I don't know how things are after a late miscarriage.
DH is loving all of the small projects, and he's helped me pick out some of them. I'll be framing the ninja one and sending it to work with him for his desk.0 -
I know someone who had a miscarriage quite late then got pregnant again and it all went smoothly, fingers crossed for you, at least its fun tryingCross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0

Meanwhile, I have a bit of a stitchy dilemma which I have been putting off thinking about. I need to have a massive spring clean, a ruthless, it must go spring clean. This does include my cross stitch stash. I've been stitching for a long time now and have accumulated an awful lot of stash including hundreds (and hundreds) of magazines. I can't keep these indefinitely but likewise I can't face the prospect of simply putting all of them out in one fell swoop for recycling, that would just be wrong so what do I do with them all?
Its going to take an awful long time to sort through them all, something which as I say, I've been putting off so I'd be grateful if you would offer any suggestions or tips - do I just keep all the mags (and rent storage) :rotfl:how ruthless should I be/how best to sort through / do I keep the whole mag/or cut out the charts I like? etc !
If I cut out the charts, how do I store - old issues of cross stitcher used to have pages bigger than A4 so would need to be cut to size to fit in A4 pockets and if I simply hole punch and stick in a folder, its inevitable that I'm going to end up punching through the chart !
It seems wrong to be considering just recycling the lot but that of course is the easier option and I would I guess keep certain bumper publications? Some mags haven't been looked through since purchase which is as long ago as ten plus years so why am I keeping them?
That sounds like a mammoth task
I sort through my mags every few months and take out the charts I like/look useful or are by popular designers which might be useful to someone else.
I put them in poly pockets then into a big ring binder (I'm up to 5 of them now) I do use dividers to keep them in rough categories: Angels/Fairies/Christmas/Animals etc
I used to get cross stitch gold which had larger pages, I found there was usually one edge which was just a course page border and I just trimmed that off to size
Having so many I would suggest you have a look through each issue and if there is nothing you are desperate to stitch, leave the mag intact and give a bundle to a charity shop.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Eric's mum- your poppy is looking lovely, the colour blending makes it so realistic.
Hmm- seeing BD laid out rather than just a section...Wow...stunning. You must be so pleased to be at the last few pages, I really admire your perseverance, especially with all those light colours :T
Wilson- hope you are feeling better soon. Sounds like you are really close to completing Henry, you seem to have stitched it really quicklyyour gnome design sounds cute, I look forward to seeing it.
On a personal front- not had time to do any stitching. Too much other stuff needing done.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Eric's mum the colours are amazing, there's something about poppies, just love them!
Nmm nearly there, she looks just wonderful, where is she going to live when done?
How is your little dog?
I sorted my magazines out a few months ago, really ruthless, sent them all off to CS,looked in cupboard and found some more,I think they breed if left too long.
Not a lot of sewing bin done, trying to finish some b.cards, not a lot of enthusiasm though!
Not felt wonderful last few days, can't seem to shake it off.0 -
Thanks guys, it is great to be on the last section and it will be hung up in the front room so I can look at it everyday
Tikaani is fine its just a pain that we don't know when they are going to happen. Its usually early hours in the morning when she's asleep 2-3am, she sleeps in our room. Her last one was on Sunday then it was 5 weeks before that and 9 weeks before that, just totally random. At least they are not weekly like they used to be. My other dog is diabetic and blind, she gets caninsulin injections twice daily, normally they only give them a year to live after diagnosis shes still going strong 2 1/2 years later, lol.Cross Stitch Cafe Member No1WIP: Cross Stitch: - Crochet:0
