  • Just thought I would share a piece I collected from the framers a couple of weeks ago which DH has decided is his current favourite of my framed pieces.

I stitched it years ago when I had a lot more time to stitch but didn't have the funds to get anything professionally framed. Plus as it was done at a stressful time in my life I was worried it would bring unpleasant memories. But when I unearthed it I decided enough time had passed and I've always liked the design so it was time to put it on display. I'm so pleased I did as DH loves it - he is particularly taken with the reflection in the mirror and insisted I show him how it was done

mrs tm cute owls - have you decided what you are going to do with them?

I think I'm going to put them away for now, and when we get pregnant again I'll get them out and put them into the nursery. :)

These are lovely. I recognise the butterfly I received it as a birthday card a few years ago and it is sitting in a box waiting to be mounted into a coaster. I think you have just given me the virtual kick I need to actually do it

I love the Princess kit. I wonder if they have a Prince version, my niece had a little boy before Christmas and she'd love a birthday pic. I made them for her and her siblings 20 odd years go and they still have them.

I haven't seen a Prince one but all the Mr Men kits are in the sale at the moment :D They have some lovely designs.

Coxy - I'm glad you had a good time, well done for surviving!

Love the owls, and this is a lovely idea :)

Chicky - I hope the bear turns up.

fos - Your framed piece is lovely, loads of detail.

mrs mp - The cards look great.

I have also finished a free card kit whilst I was waiting for my new projects to arrive

WOXS was waiting for me when I got home last night and the kitten kit is supercute so I plan to sort the threads out and get stitching! Hopefully this will give me the stitchy bug back. :o I'm frustrated though that they haven't supplied thread numbers as I do prefer to use threads from my stash.....

Meanwhile, I have a bit of a stitchy dilemma which I have been putting off thinking about. I need to have a massive spring clean, a ruthless, it must go spring clean. This does include my cross stitch stash. I've been stitching for a long time now and have accumulated an awful lot of stash including hundreds (and hundreds) of magazines. I can't keep these indefinitely but likewise I can't face the prospect of simply putting all of them out in one fell swoop for recycling, that would just be wrong so what do I do with them all?

Its going to take an awful long time to sort through them all, something which as I say, I've been putting off so I'd be grateful if you would offer any suggestions or tips - do I just keep all the mags (and rent storage) :rotfl:how ruthless should I be/how best to sort through / do I keep the whole mag/or cut out the charts I like? etc !

If I cut out the charts, how do I store - old issues of cross stitcher used to have pages bigger than A4 so would need to be cut to size to fit in A4 pockets and if I simply hole punch and stick in a folder, its inevitable that I'm going to end up punching through the chart !

It seems wrong to be considering just recycling the lot but that of course is the easier option and I would I guess keep certain bumper publications? Some mags haven't been looked through since purchase which is as long ago as ten plus years so why am I keeping them?

Louise - Nessie was a carboot bargain. its from a scottish range textile heritage but the kit has now been discontinued. it was really quick and easy to do.

Emily - that cat card is soo cute

FoS - i agree the butterfly card would make a lovely coaster, hopefully yours will sometime soon

FE - its always difficult to know how to store mags and how long to hold on to them for - i have piles of them and have no idea what chart is where without going trough them all.
i keep thinking i should go through mine but wouldnt have a clue how best to organise them.

found the green i need in my dmc stash upstairs so can get back on with backstitching but i think as it fast approching mothers day i will also make a start on the cushion for my mum.

    happy stitching all
