    God morning cross stitchers

    A bit if advice please

Anyway this is the design I've chosen
    http://www.historicalsamplercompany.co.uk/shop/i-do-wedding-sampler/

I'm going to do it on some "vintage marbled" linen but I'm thinking thaT I don't particularly like the names and date added at the bottom. Looks like an after thought to me. So I was considering replacing Bride and Groom in the middle with the couple's names and putting the date instead of good luck at the bottom of the heart. Any views would be welcomed
I think that would look good. My only slight problem is would the name and date stand out enough if they were in the body of the words. Maybe do them in a different colour so that they are obvious. I love the way the words make the shape of a heart.

Thank you for your comments. I will see how the names look because the brown isn't the most prominent colour

I started it last night and am pleased with how it is looking
  • kezbaby you are making good progress with Tea. I like projects that are broken up into sections as I get a sense of satisfaction each time I complete a piece

Me too, FoS, I did a Mr Men and Little Miss calendar sampler for my cousin a while ago and that had the same level of satisfaction.

Kezbabybabe - fruit-tea is lovely but my favourite is still oddit-tea. How many have you left to stitch

After Emp-tea there is another 3 tea pots and the banner at the top to finish. :)

I must be one of the few that enjoys doing the back-stitch and French knots on a piece of work. If you find it overwhelming then do it as you go along, it really makes the work stand out. :)

    Sunday Update:
A better week of stitching this week. Got most of the background on Emp-Tea completed, hoping to do a bit more later.

Coxy - I like your new stocking kit. Good progress.

FOS - I was going to say the same as Hippipal. Maybe do the bride and grooms name and the date of their wedding in a different colour to he rest of the stitching, I think that design is great and seems to be right up your street.

Kez - still loving your tea design.

Will add an update photk of Henry and his wives tomorrow. Have ben away for the weekend so very little stitching done over the last couple of days.

I love that shop. My parents live in Matlock and when I visit I always make sure to go to Bakewell and spend a happy half hour browsing.

Ok then, nmm...I'll join you in your confession. I've been crocheting too. I'm just learning, so it's all new to me. I was taught by a friend just over a week ago and spent the first week doing a sort of sampler with a basic stitch and practising getting the tension right. Now I'm doing a scarf and I'm actually really enjoying it. As many of you know, I've not done any cross stitch in a long time (10 months, maybe? :( ) but at least I'm doing something creative again now.

I'm still checking in here & loving seeing all the wonderful updates that have been posted. Looking forward to seeing the stockings progressing-it's a lovely design.
