Eric's mum- those kittens are adorable! I love the sepia tones

Shelly- I remember the piece you are doing because it's very pretty, it's coming along nicely. I did a dimensions piece ('a treasured time') a few years ago which jumped between 2, 3 & 4 strands...nightmare to stitch but really effective.

So much to catch up on! Here goes,

FOS - I love the wedding sampler and I think it definitely needs their names in the design. The fabric is lovely.

Mrs Mp - Titanic is looking great, it will be amazing when it's finished.

Shelly - your picture looks good, looking forward to some updates.

Victoria - I also think that it should be 2014 as it's a 25 yr anniversary.

Eric's mum - the kittens are very cute.

Alisb - looking forward to seeing Jane Seymour. I really like this period in history.

With all the chat on back stitch, I like the detail it brings to the design almost as though it brings it to life. I'm not keen on when it doesn't match up with the holes though as it then becomes very fiddly to stitch and you have to concentrate on not making a mistake.

I'm liking the idea of using beads in place of French knots, had not thought of that. I have only just started French knots and find it very difficult to get them neat and sitting right.

Have an update on dolly mama but will post in a new post.

I have finished the x-stitch apart from the border and have now started the backstitch. I'm trying to think of what to do with it once it's finished. I was thinking of a lime green frame maybe and putting it in the kitchen?

Emily - nice update in Dolly. I think the idea of a bright frame is a really good one.

Off to work this morning (boo) and playing taxi tonight so doubt if I'll get any stitching done. Will try to post picture later.

Louise - hope you're feeling a bit better even though you are sttuggling to sleep, seeingas you have posted in the wee hours :)

  • Flying visit I'm afraid but just had to say that I love all the updates. Great work going on.

I have been doing some of the Family Tree stitch (on with loads of BABS atm ). Have been stitching with a mix of one and two strands, half and full stitches and french knots with one and two strands. Have been caught out a couple of times. :o

On the Silver Wedding pic - I would opt for the date of the silver wedding rather than the date of the wedding.

Lovely to see you Victoria - don't be shy now :hello:

    Really must get ready now.

Victoria - I think the year depends on the sampler. I've always put both the year of the wedding and the current year. If you add a link to the design and I'm sure we'll be happy to give our opinions - be warned that you will be more confused as we will all say different things :)

    thanks Ailsb
    hope this works

that makes sense to me as it its because its saying they are celebrating their silver wedding anni so i would expect it to have the date of that anni rather than the wedding date on if you see what im saying.

lovely to see everyones differing projects and photos.

I know with my Dolly Mamas, I struggled to find a frame as they're an unusual size. I used wooden bell pull ends and hemmed the edges to stop them fraying. Worth checking Ikea, though. I know they sell brightly coloured frames and you could maybe get a mount cut to size. I love those designs-always make me smile. :)

Dates on the anniversary stitch - I think I would try to alter the bottom date section so that it read e.g. 01/01/1989 - 01/01/2014

That way, both the dates would be included :)

Thanks - up at 7.30 as well so I wasn't doing myself any favours.

I posted on Soulie's thread at the weekend and thinking about her made me remember I was overdue for a check up so I was away to the docs early, feeling a bit sore now so cuddled up on the sofa with a fleece throw and a cuppa - might sleep for an hour before getting the kids actually. :o

so...no stitching again yet, maybe tonight. I've not really been into it over the last week, had loads to keep me busy.

Emily - I think a lime green frame would be just perfect, it's such a bright and cheerful design :)

The only problem i see with that is it's kind of a beginning and an end date.
