    Morning!!!

Happy new year to you all! Hope you all had a great night whether you were in or out and about. We were at friends around the corner - great company and fantastic food (jambalaya sp?) mmmmm

I'm the only one up at as we didn't get home until 2pm and DH was rather tipsy ;) No need to rush around today though - roast dinner and telly time - catching up on things we have sky+ over the last couple of weeks.

    Have a great day all

i love lamb, IMO it makes the best gravy too.. Talking of food, Mum wants to have lunch at Little Chef today - well, she is 90 so a bit more cholesterol won't matter !

Hope you all enjoy the last day of the Christmas season, back to normal tomorrow.

  • Happy New Year to one and all

We don't really "do" new year celebrations any more so quiet by choice. Lovely long phone call with DS just after midnight and did some some stitching before heading to bed. Start the year as you mean to go on :D

Hugs to all who need them.

Has anyone decided on any new year's resolutions? I have to be honest and say that I hate new year but it has to be suffered (in the nicest possible way) and it is kind of a tradition to take time out and think about what one wants to achieve in the coming year....

Mine are the usual lose weight, have more money in the bank and stop sweating the small stuff but likewise, I'd like to find more time for my hobbies and just in general enjoy life.

There is something about the new year with its promise of new beginnings that encourages Resolutions though we could make them at any time :)

Leaving aside the usual exercise more, eat more healthily, lose weight regulars I would like to continue de cluttering and using rather than buying stitching stash as well as finishing some UFOSs and displaying more finished pieces. We'll see. What is really important to me is that my stitching is a pleasure not a chore.

    Loved reading about others' resolutions

    Clip Frames

I was admiring a friend's neat work today and it turns out she uses a clip frame instead of a hoop to keep the fabric tighter and straighter. She couldn't tell me the brand name and when I google them I got confused !

SO I need your advice and recommendations for the best clip frame, I'm sure some of you will be using them already.

    Thanks as always
    EM
I purchased on of these a while ago:
    http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Easy-Clip-Frames
I have used it for two stitches so far and I have to say that I am very impressed. Much easier than sewing the fabric to my previous frame. The tautness of the frame is exceptional and it's easier to keep it straight.

I've been busy since I started my holiday on 16th Dec. I've finished another mini-square for the heirloom quilt. I've now started the Dictionary of Tea for my Friend's 50th birthday in October. I started it on 17th December and have been able to spend quite a number of hours doing it and here is the latest on this one:

2014 won't have much done for the stitching this year. Just the above and picking back up on the heirloom quilt.

I'm getting married in August, so a lot of my time will be taken with organising that!
  • loving all you resolutions, mine is going to be to stitch more for myself, spent a lot of this year sewing for everyone else and the ones I want to do for my house get pushed to one side, I only have one cross stitch picture up in my house!

Lovely design. Hope you were pleased with it even if it' snot the one you intended to stitch
  • It doesn't make it all about you at all EM, it's actually nice when you realise that you are not the only one who feels that way. I have very little, if any, confidence in myself and i do tend to latch onto the negative things people say and ignore the positive. This year has been a bad year depression wise for me but i'm going to try my hardest to make next year better. I've already booked a holiday to Florida, am meeting my favourite boyband in March (don't judge!) and have signed on to do three taster courses on the future learn website, the first of which starts next Monday
Sounds like you've made a good start for 2014 Do share who the boyband is. Sounds really exciting

It' such a shame that so many people don't understand the deferment between clinical depression which is a real illness and the " having a bad day " feeling that everyone experiences occasionally. And lack of self confide is really debilitating

Hope your list of 5 things to do each day includes simple things like checking in here and replying to a post or 2 :)
  • mos. Teenagers Can't live with them. Can't live without them. A really thought period for everyone Thank goodness it doesn't last

em I agree that commenting on how you feel doesn't make it " all about you". I agree that r and r clip frames are great. Kittens look cute already

queenb. Hope this year is better for you. Hope you. An share your progress on the sampler with us here

ailsblovely idea to stitch something that reminds you of your Mum. Is the kit the one that HVIII with 3 wives each side? Lots of lovely detail in the costumes

Kezbabybabe. Love dictionary of tea. Will you be doing any xs for your wedding?

JCS1, Good progress on your birth sampler and i agree with the others stitch romantic mood then give it to her as a present. At least he has pants on :p

Erics Mum, the kittens are cute, good start on them.

Louise/FOS, lovely surprise cards, the true christmas spirit.

pm2326, the HAED is very different, i look forward to your progress pics.

ems, i've always wanted to see a photo stitch completed, i look forward to more updates.

beg, lovely kits the family tree is very sweet and i like the tree of love too :)

Maria, enjoy spending your money & vouchers.

*Louise*, love all your makes as always, especially the angels and the little santa. Jealous of your card stash however i have very few people to make cards for so they would sit there gathering dust.

Phew thats me caught up, sorry if i missed anyone.

On the topic of depression, i don't think i suffer from it, however my OH often comments that i'm in a mood when i'm really not, i feel more down than anything then spend my time idling on the computer doing nothing. He also mentioned that i'm always bad this time of year so maybe i have a mild case of SAD :(

I don't normally make new year resolutions, but i would like to try and live life more, it seems to be flying by atm. I would also like to join or maybe start a craft club as apart from you guys i don't have any friends.

Great idea to join a craft group,if you can

I see you are in Cumbria. Are you anywhere near Fobbles http://www.fobbles.co.uk. They do workshops it it's a big county so May be too far away
