Has anyone decided on any new year's resolutions? I have to be honest and say that I hate new year but it has to be suffered (in the nicest possible way) and it is kind of a tradition to take time out and think about what one wants to achieve in the coming year....

Mine are the usual lose weight, have more money in the bank and stop sweating the small stuff but likewise, I'd like to find more time for my hobbies and just in general enjoy life.

I have updated my signature with my 2014 resolution. I have left not buying books and yarn until it's all gone, but have got my cross stitch stash down to hardly anything :( so have taken that off :)

I went through everything I had and asked myself 'will I really do that??' Anything that was a no I got rid off. Kits and charts were ebayed, magazine charts were binned and small cover kits given away to DH's God- daughters.

I am now down to FIVE kits  and a small ring binder of magazine charts.

Working today and tomorrow but then off for six days so hoping to get a bit of stitching done.

  • Mine is to write a list of five things i have to do each day. With depression it's very easy to procrastinate/wallow which ends up with a never ending cycle of being too depressed to do anything compounded with frustration that i wasted a day by getting nothing done. I'm hoping this brings me out of this cycle.
  • My stitchy new year resolutions

    1. Not to buy any more stash until present stash is greatly reduced.

    2. Organise all my embroidery threads.

Well that's for starters anyway. Let's see how long it lasts.

  • loving all you resolutions, mine is going to be to stitch more for myself, spent a lot of this year sewing for everyone else and the ones I want to do for my house get pushed to one side, I only have one cross stitch picture up in my house!

Louise lovely cards as always, and the mother and child is stunning. How do you store all the cards you make? I got some great suggestions from others on here on how to store them but just wondered what you did?

Maria your new home card is great so pretty and bright, I am sure the recipients will be pleased.

Tricksie wow you certainly have reduced your stash of CS stuff well done. Hope you enjoy your days off.

Fos completely with you on using up stash and finishing UFO in 2014. I have so many kits from mags it's unreal so that's my main target as well as the two UFO.

JCS ooh definitely could get all hot and sweaty doing that xstitch. Hope you enjoy!!:)

Still on third thank you card but hoping to finish it today.

Probably won't be on again today as going to my parent's tonight for the night to see in the bells and then BIL's for lunch tomorrow so HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all and wish you all a healthy, wealthy and peaceful 2014.

oh this makes such a lot of sense to me. I've had depression for years which I mainly keep under control (just about) but it breaks through so easily, usually if I feel someone is being unfair to me - it's not paranoia, just sadness and lack of confidence in what people think of me. So, my resolution is to find a better way of handling these feelings, freeing me up to do more practical or "fun" things in my life.

Sorry to make this all about me - depression makes me very selfish in some respects.

I do wish you all the best for 2014.

That's not being selfish EM you are being honest. I can totally relate to your comments - I can easily get 'down' and feel self-loathing over the silliest of things.

I'm hoping that 2014 will be a year of good times - for all of us :D

    Happy New Year all

It doesn't make it all about you at all EM, it's actually nice when you realise that you are not the only one who feels that way. I have very little, if any, confidence in myself and i do tend to latch onto the negative things people say and ignore the positive. This year has been a bad year depression wise for me but i'm going to try my hardest to make next year better. I've already booked a holiday to Florida, am meeting my favourite boyband in March (don't judge!) and have signed on to do three taster courses on the future learn website, the first of which starts next Monday
  • I thought this might raise a smile with some of you - I've heard lots of tales about kitties and stitching/knitting stash :D

  • Another sufferer of the dreaded AD, it can really make you feel yuk! We have been invited out this evening but I REALLY can't be bothered but I know by not going it will ruin it for everyone else here so needs must. They seem to miss out on so much as I can't be bothered.

Just before Christmas (23rd December) my back went into spasm so dosed up on Co-codamol and then to top it all off I cut my cornea on my good eye (other eye has limited vision) so spent the last 3 days in agony with my eye! Hoping 2014 will be a much better year :D

I haven't managed any stitching the last few days but now my eye is starting to feel better I am hoping to do some tomorrow.

Youngest DD went away snowboarding for Christmas and I really missed her, however.......she has only been back since Sunday and I am wishing she was still away, the place is a mess, she is grumpy, hormonal, just generally yuk and she had the cheek to tell me today that she had no clothes clean because she had taken them away with her and I HADN'T done her washing yet!

Right, off to calm down with a nice cuppa and a cuddle with my dogs.

I hope 2014 is a good one for you all and you manage to get lots of stitching done x
