It's one of Louise's fabulous coaster cards which are even nicer in real life than in the photo
Thank you so much Louise. The coaster will be part of my Christmas decorations every year0 -
Afternoon ladies
Hope you all had a good xmas.
Santa brought the frame I asked for so now I can do a HAED.
I got the material on ebay a few month ago, it was a bargain 18 HPI 41' x 41' for £5.50..the seller noted that it had marks on and I think that put people off bidding. I thought it would be ok as the HAED would cover any marks anyway...turns out it was only 3 tiny little marks about the size of a pin head each!!:rotfl::rotfl:
Anyhow, I washed it last night as it was creased badly and I ironed it this morning. It's now on the frame waiting patiently while I print off all 36 pages :eek:of the chart. I'll get all the threads together later and maybe consider starting tonight or tomorrow!
By the way it's this one:

Now the fun starts as I'm also doing Elvis as a surprise for my mum. I was hoping to get him done for her birthday in April but I doubt it's going to happen as there's a lot of confetti stitching so it's probably going to be part of her xmas present next year.
But now she'll expect to see progress on my HAED when she visits every other saturday so I need to work out how to do this, at the minute I'm thinking I could stitch Elvis one night, HAED the next and then back to Elvis the next night etc or maybe one week stitch Elvis, the next week stitch the HAED (HAED would be done the week she's due to visit)....decisions, decisions!0 -
This is my current WIP - the photo stitch of my nan and grandad for my mum

I wasn't intending today to be lazy but I've been waiting in for a parcel so I've watched Papillon (fell asleep so took ages to watch it !), done a bit more xmas stitching while listening to Poirot and Me by David Suchet and I've just started watching Gangsta Granny while my tea is cooking.
We watched the new Die Hard film last night - very disappointed with it. Wished I hadn't bothered. The trailer was the best bit about the film.
Sadly my parcel didn't turn up (despite paying for delivery today) so I suspect it will be another day of waiting around on Monday.....
As much as I'm enjoying the holidays, it does take a while to get into the routine of relaxing and trying not to eat too much rubbish! Hope everyone is having a lovely xmas break. What are people's plans for new year?0 -
Evening,
Had a bit of a clear out and have a few cover kits/free charts looking for a new home. They are free, but if you would like to make a small donation to charity in Soulie's name that would be fine.
2 bookmark kits and one Margaret Sherry card kit.
Christmas tags and 2 penguin card kits.
Following are charts/booklets only.
Gingerbread cottage chart, Lucie Heaton Christmas chart book with 50 designs, "Hannah" elegance miniatures chart by John Clayton
And finally, Faye Whittaker All Our Yesterdays charts x 4, chart for rose tote bag, retro style booklet with 49 designs, Fizzy Moon calender complete with 4 designs.
pm if interested.0 -
EricsMum - your little cats look very sweet. What size is the design once finished?
Louise - the card from FOS is lovely and equally the card/coaster you did really nice. Two lucky ladies.
PM - will look forward to seeing the progress on Elvis andnyour HAED. I think I'd stitch a night onnonebthen a night on the other. That way if you didn't feel like stitching or couldn't for a few days it wouldn't impaft on either design tok much.
Emslovesmickey - your picture design of your Nan and Grandad is coming on great, I bet your Mum will be so pleased with it.
JCS1 - its so kind of you to offer your spare kits and charts to people. I'm sure they will make someone really happy.Cross Stitch Cafe Member #59 :j

Ok so if you don't want to be tempted don't read on.
HAED have a Christmas sale on 35% off everything until close of business on 30th. They also have a raffle which costs £2 and you get a chart for entering plus a change to win a chart a month for a year. Details below:

Got a Thank you card made and am halfway through the next one,
JCS wow that blackwork is amazing. It's really striking and I can't believe it only took you five evenings.
FOS - lovely idea to have the 14 in 2014 in memory of Soulie. I tried last year but failed miserably so will try again this year.
Quick question, if anyone is around and not manically doing last minute xmas stuff, but I am wanting to start a hoard of cards this year but I am unsure what to keep the finished cards in with their envelopes so they don't get muddled. Does anyone have any ideas or ways they have of doing this?
Thanks
I don't stitch a lot of cards but I do buy birthday cards in advance and I store them in a plastic display folder with 40 pages like this one
http://www.poundland.co.uk/display-book-a4-1915
I also put any hand made cards in here - one per page or two back to back if they are just normal cards. Keeps them safe and easy to look through0 -
Advance wishes for a happy New Year for those of you who celebrate. Personally I find it very sad and tend to ignore all the Hogmanay-type and 2013 review telly programmes.
I've decided on the cross stitch kit I want to do next - small but detailed, couldn't face a large one at the mo.
This will keep me absorbed into 2014, together with the remains of the box of Thorntons Premium chocs my bro gave me for Xmas (plus the 2 cans of ready-mixed gin and tonics). We don't spend a lot on pressies in our family but always get lovely personal stocking fillers which suits me just fine.
Here it is:

Bought a fat quarter of evenweave and this is one of my purchases -

and then last night I 'accidentally' bought this.

Seriously there will have to be a ban on any further stitchy purchases for the next 12 months I am really running short on wall space.
