Happy Boxing day to all :rudolf:

I hope everyone had a great day yesterday.

Did anyone get any stitchy gifts?

No new stitchy stash for me but I did get some nice gifts and had some money too :D

I did manage some stitching yesterday but not much and I'm hopeful to do some more today.

Meanwhile, I've been looking at spending my Christmas money on a tablet device and wonder if anyone has any recommendations. I want it for gaming, catching up on mse of course, facebook, e-mail and my audible book subscription. My main preference is I would like it to have expandable memory.... Would welcome suggestions.

I would have suggested the Kindle, except for the expandable memory.

You don't say what your budget it - but the Samsung Galaxy Tabs are all very good.

Cheaper end, the HP Slates seems OK.

Edit. Been to sister's today.she got Asus memo. (£120). Expandable memory as requested. I like it.I want one x
  • Hello girls, just popping in to send you belated Christmas wishes. Haven't been online since last Sunday as I have been poorly sick since then. Taking antibiotics and antisick pills now so hope once they start kicking in I will be back on form.

Will try to catch up with all the posts I have missed.

Best wishes to you all. xx

FlatEric - glad you had a lovely Christmas. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7 inch and I'm pleased with it. I use it for everything you mentioned. Have just checked and you can expand the memory on it as well.

Beg - sorry to hear youve not been well hope you pick up soon.

I didn't actually get any stitchy presents but Father Christmas has left me a letter saying he will buy me all the threads I need to make me up to a full set. Can someone recommend where he can buy floss from cheaply please? Last time I bought in bulk it was from across town :)

    Have a good day everyone.

  • Merry belated xmas everyone!!!
Feels like ages since i've been in here. I've been working on the photo stitch, which is going to take a while but i have to get it finished by mid-March. Got a few stitchy presents, a hoop with a seat thing so i can have both hands free, a light and magnifier and some thread heaven. Also another kit (threads and aida anyway) which was naughty of me since i am on the crafty ban group but i have already declared myself on the naughty step for that

I have had a couple of tablets. My favourite is the Nexus 7. It doesn't have expandable memory, which I was also concerned about before I got it, but I have the 32Gb version and it is plenty big enough for me with lots of books, music and pictures on it. I also back up to a couple of cloud storage servers. The Nexus is fast and it gets updated to the latest software very quickly. It is nice and thin and is a good size to slip in my handbag. I have had it for about 6 months now and still love it.

Thanks all. after much  I have gone for the Nexus 7 - no expandable memory but I'm sure I will have enough. I have been looking at replacing my Ipod touch for months and watching the price which hasn't changed and the price of the model I was thinking of buying was the same as the nexus 7 but of course its much bigger and I can stick with google apps :T so think I've chosen the best option.

I did some more stitching yesterday - and hope to do lots today/tomorrow. I'm stitching a couple of the christmas designs from the durene jones feature in a recent WOXS mag. Seems daft to be stitching xmas stuff now but hey might as well get organised :rotfl:

Advance wishes for a happy New Year for those of you who celebrate. Personally I find it very sad and tend to ignore all the Hogmanay-type and 2013 review telly programmes.

I've decided on the cross stitch kit I want to do next - small but detailed, couldn't face a large one at the mo.

This will keep me absorbed into 2014, together with the remains of the box of Thorntons Premium chocs my bro gave me for Xmas (plus the 2 cans of ready-mixed gin and tonics). We don't spend a lot on pressies in our family but always get lovely personal stocking fillers which suits me just fine.

    Here it is:

    Hi everyone,

(((hugs))) to the poorlies - hope you feel better soon.

No stitchy gifts for me, but I did get some gardening bits and bobs which was good.

Hoping to do some more of my blackwork sampler today. DH is unexpectedly off due to no trains. I also have a huge pile of ironing so may watch a movie to ease the pain :rotfl:

    Have a good day all

  • Lovely cute kittens Erics Mum. Looking forward to seeing your progress.

ems - think I should be joining you on that naughty step very soon as I keep getting the urge to buy more stash that I really do not need. DS bought me two new kits for xmas and postie brought me two items today and I've already spotted something else and dh came behind me when I was looking at it and said 'oh that looks nice' - well if he likes it ;). Think I am going to have to have a ban on buying any new stuff in 2014 :o

Speaking of tablets - I bought DH a real el cheapo bottom of the range tablet (he doesn't really do technical gadgetry) and he is delighted with it. In fact he said he was thinking of spending some of his xmas money/vouchers on buying himself one. Just think I could have saved myself some pennies. Never mind it was lovely to give him something he was delighted with as he has been a gem over the hols while I have been poorly.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Hello all - hope you have all had a lovely Christmas. Get well wishes to those who are feeling under the weather ((hugs))

Thank you to FOS for the Christmas card which arrived on Christmas Eve, that was a lovely surprise. Did you get the one I sent you?

The only stitchy gift I got was from my mum who bought me Fairyland Dreams chart and the fabric to go with it. :T We have had a great family Christmas, kids have had a brilliant time :)

Doing card sized stitching at the moment, will post some pics when I get some more finished. After New year I want to finish Circe and start on my 12 JE ladies set
