Afternoon,
Taken a break from the birth sampler, and did this (I do like quick blackwork with a nice repeating pattern, only took 5 evenings)0 -

Louise -Baby in a Manger is lovely and I really like the two tree hangings.
Fos - your picture of the village looks like a fantastic art work. Hard to believe it's cross stitch.
Well busy weekend for me. Did all my food shopping on saturday and then some ironing and today I have cleaned the house upstairs including all the windows so just downstairs to do on Tuesday. Tomorrow is present wrapping as DS2 will be at nursery and we are taking DS1 to see The hobbit part 2 (watched part 1 again last night to refresh us as to where it had got to).
Thanks - it's a design by Needlepoise - not sure if they are still trading as I bought the original kit a long time ago and finished the xs about 2 years ago. I had always intended it to be a present but the recipients moved a lot in the last couple of years so wouldn't have thanked me for more stuff that needed to be packed and unpacked. So I didn't finish it off - meaning I didn't do the back stitching. Hopefully they are now settled so this is also a house warming gift.
I still have present wrapping to finish off tonight (and probably Christmas Eve as well). Really could do with some of Santa's elves to help me :rotfl:0 -

Now I will have to wait patiently for postie to bring me a sampler with different types of stitches on (nothing as lovely as sweetcarer's btw) and some evenweave (I'm going to try and use this a bit more during 2014).

Evenweave is great and gives a lovely finish. Can you share what you bought? You know how nosy we all are0 -
I met my first great-nephew today, he's 16 days old and a little beauty ! His mum and dad have painted one wall of his bedroom with a jungle theme. Luckily I managed to find a baby birth sampler cross stitch kit with cartoon-y jungle creatures on it, which I will get done and framed ready for his first birthday.
But first, I fancy doing something small but very detailed - need to go and raid my stash. Might post pics of a few and let you choose for me ?
ooh yes - love looking at what others are considering stitching0 -

I know that some of us participated in Soulie's 13 Projects in 2013 challenge so I have created a new thread clicky called 14 Projects in 2014 - in memory of Soulie.
I thought it would be a way to keep her in our thoughts and I like to think she would approve of us continuing to document our progress.
Hope no one is offended by this and hope to see some of you joining in.
I will be compiling my initial list over the Christmas break - it will be a mixture of UFOs and projects I already have in my stash though there isn't a rule against new items (especially if Santa is generous).0 -
I wish you all a merry Christmas and a stitching filled new year
