Hi all - haven't been keeping up with everything, not had the greatest week - bad enough paying £500 for new tyres last Wed, but then the cat knocked my phone off a table and cracked the screen, my laptop fell and the screen smashed and last night DH dropped his phone into a glass of coke and that's busted as well.....expensive week!
Have you had the laptop looked at yet? its pretty easy to replace a screen, if you want more info or help message me

Hi,
Louise
It's awful when that happens,we had a week like that when we moved into our new house, the kettle blew up within minutes of moving in,next day shower blew up while dh was in it,which then led to a new junction box, then the telly blew up,all in all it cost us over £1000 in the first week,dh is only just recovering after 4yrs.
Hope yours won't be so expensive.

Your memorials for your friend soulie are beautiful, her family will be comforted knowing she was well loved.

Well excluding the tyres as they are needed, they say bad luck comes in 3's so that's yours out of the way, hopefully

Thankfully I managed to get a screen cheap on amazon (£35 I would have rather spent on something nice though!) - and handy hubby replaced it for me. Phone screen is staying cracked, it still works fine and we are going to try and replace the battery in hubby's phone before buying him a new one.
Just remembered the washing machine broke the previous weekend (£40) so we are well over our quota for damages! :rotfl:mrs-moneypenny wrote: »Only for my DD1 could i have spent the day cross stitching the contents of a snap on tool box LOL. i dont mind if i never see a ring spanner again!

Like most if not all of us at this time of year I feel like I am meeting myself coming back - so much to do and not enough time
So I have been guilty of reading and running instead of replying / joining in the chat.
It has been great to read that so many exchange pieces are already completed. I've done a bit more on mine but have been concentrating on finishing the xs on my Shepherd's Bush stockings as I am planning a day with the sewing machine next Sunday when my SiL is coming to stay and bringing her machine with her. So I am hoping to make the 2 stockings and also a cushion for a niece (xs is already done) as that will be 3 Christmas presents done
This is a 6 day week at work (our busiest time of year) but I do have some time off the following week in which to finish my exchange piece before the deadline.
Ayeshalush I think the wedding sampler you have chosen is just perfect and shouldn't take too long to stitch
jcs thank you for keeping us updated with news about Soulie. Have not had time to look for a suitable design but will be making a donation to Macmillan Nurses in any case. I have sent an invitation to join the Flickr group
Your 2 framed pieces are stunning. I love them both even though they are so different. I have stitched a couple of the John Clayton circle designs and would love to do more as they are so effective. I love bluebells and just looking at your piece makes me think of spring
Design Works - Frog Pile kit What an unusual design. Sorry I can't help with the key
FE My free kit with Cross Stitcher seems ok but I would definitely complain about yours. I realised when I saw your post about the new issue that I hadn't received the previous one and got a replacement copy sent straightaway via the website
pm i always use interfacing on projects such as coasters, bell pulls and some cards. Sometimes I use Vilene 640 (Pellon) which provides a padded effect which can be nice on cards and cushions - and I always use it on Christmas stockings. I wouldn't use interfacing on a large piece - I prefer to get these framed by a professional who laces them. For small pieces which I frame myself I have also used the sticky mount board which is quite effective and ideal for standard size frames
Hope you are feeling better. I used to suffer a lot with mouth ulcers and was told by my dentist that it can sometimes be a sign of a mineral deficiency so I take a multi vitamin and mineral tablet every day and rarely get them now
mrsceejay peacock looks very good. Great idea about the photo book of memories
emslovesmickey Well done on almost finishing the pirate ship - can't remember if you were giving it to your brother for Christmas or not.
I love the Starry Night design (I think I have a chart for this in my stash) and your idea of the Tardis in there is wonderful - with so many blues it would be easy for it to blend in
randm Sorry can't help with the hole punch - sounds like a good idea though
firefly369 Sorry to hear about the complications - hopefully this will be temporary
sweetcarer Sorry to hear you have not been feeling on top of things. Your latest sampler is really coming along well and I love the learning sampler - your close up shows just how neat your stitching is
elliep what a wonderful gift. I stitched this years ago - it doesn't have any background although it is done on black aida. It would probably work on light coloured fabric as well.

mos looking forward to seeing the stocking finished and made
mrsmp the candle you have stitched is lovely; your other project is very interesting but not something that will be added to my to do list
tricksie good luck on the return to work; good that you are having a phased return as 10 weeks is a long time
coxy how generous to offer kits and charts in exchange for a donation in Soulie's memory. I'm tempted but I already have far more to stitch than I can get through
kezbabybabe the quilt piece is stunning - how big will it be?
beg the heart for Soulie is perfect
louise oh no what a catalogue of disasters - hope that's it. It is surprising how often these things occur in clusters
Sorry for the length of the post but I think I have caught up now - apologies if I have missed anyone0 -
Forgot to include in my previous post that I finally got round to photographing the 50th birthday card I made - just before I had to give it to the recipient :rotfl:
50th Birthday card by stitchyfeather, on Flickr
It was an Ursula Michaels design in Cross Stitch Card Shop. I changed the "straw" to read 50 in words and numbers and stitched it on some hand dyed linen from my stash0 -
that looks brilliant Fos, i bet whoever received it was delighted.
i know what you man about my latest project, its a bit specialised, mind you not everyone has a petrolhead for a DD. She'll be pleased with it
im going to have to do a list as time is ticking by too fast and not everything is getting done. i just know i will miss something out.SPC~12 ot 124

Evening everyone,
Soulie's funeral is tomorrow at 1.20pm.
Thinking of her family and friends at this time
x0 -
I've added 2 pictures to Soulie's tribute page, we share the same initial, and given her love of Winnie The Pooh, I've added a "J" with Winnie, and a "J" with Tigger.
Will search for something to stitch also.0
