    Hello Girls,

Sorry I have not been around much - I have been quite sad of late and not up to posting much - combination of all different things. I have still stitched as I know it helps my depression as I can go into a bubble and not be disturbed.

I have finished my wee exchange piece - it looks good and I am hoping the recipient likes it too. First time I have used plastic canvas in years. Took a photo in readiness.

Everyone has been so busy and there is alot of nice things going on here. Here is some updates for you.

Update on the spring sampler - think I will finish it this week - only summer and autumn to do by end of year. I think they will always remind me of Soulie, as they are part of my 13 stitches in 2013.

I have also been doing some work on my learning sampler - I am on part 3 - one of the girls in the facebook page has done up to part 6! It is interesting seeing all the different colours - some are doing blue, green, I am doing purple - it will be like a rainbow when they are all finished.

I have tried to a close up picture for you all here of all the new specialty stitches I have learned.

On the edge (the border) there is satin stitch. The letters are all in cross stitch. Now the row I have zoomed in best I can.

Rows 1 and 7 are smyrna cross stitches, rows 2 and 6 are rice stitch and finally rows 3, 4 and 5 are upright cross stitches.

Hope everyone else is well, keep well till next time.

They are magnificent, the woodland is so real, reminds you of spring, the macintosh one is so colourful, well done on such a lot of hard work and time taken.
I too use corsadyl, good for all mouth ailments but the taste especially the mint can be a bit strong,
One of my old cats used to sleep with only her head under the covers,i'am sure she thought if she couldn't see us,we wouldn't notice if she was there all day!!
Happy stitching everyone, hope all those with colds feel better soon. X

    Hi Everyone

Sorry I've not been about for AGES, life has been so busy. I've started a new job, which I love and have just had loads on.

I have someone wanting to buy me a cross stitch kit for Christmas. There's no budget so I can ask for whatever I want, but I don't know what I want!

I have really enjoyed stitching a Joan Elliott santa, and a beautiful Giraffe (Really tall one, with a baby giraffe in front). I'm currently working on cut-thru ark and finding it's far too fiddly with stuff too similar to confetti stitch for me. Though I love the design.

Would anyone like to suggest a future project for me to request?
  • JCS1 - your pictures are absolutely beautiful - well done :T

Mrs Ceejay - The peacock is lovely. I love all the colours.

pm2326 - Mouth ulcers are horrible. I also use corsodyl but if its too nippy then bonjella is very soothing. Hope you feel better soon. Although I wish I was a productive as you when I couldn't sleep at 5am:p

I have finished stitching a few Christmas cards that need to be made up but not much else apart from that. I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes so spending a lot of time back and forth to the hospital for various appointments:(

On a positive note there is a new puppy on our farm. A little Jack Russell called Pip. He is tiny and adorable, he lives in my mums house so I get cuddles and then get to hand him back:D

Take care of yourself - hope they get the diabetes sorted for you. You probably have best of both worlds with Pip - lots of cuddles whilst visiting Mum and then you can hand him back for all the stuff that comes with having a pup. ;). Had hoped to make some cards up today too, but only managed s-i-l's birthday card for tomorrow :o

Sorry to see that you haven't been feeling too grand sweetcarer. You have probably been working hard and worried over Mum not being too well. Hope you feel better soon. Love the progress of the samplers. Thanks for the close up pics. Made a note of your new stitches and will look them up when I get a few spare mins (prob 2015 ;))

:hello: elliep - congratulations on your new job. :T What a great problem to have - any cross stitch kit with no restrictions (mind is already boggled). Hope you come across something that will give you many pleasurable hours of stitching. Good luck. Don't leave it too long before you pop back into the Cafe.

No stitching (made up one card) for me today. Hope you have all had a more productive day than me.

    Take care everyone

I've got Bluebell Wood in my stash, too. Lovely design!

Sweetcarer-so sorry you've been feeling low. Sending huge hugs.

New kit with no budget...lucky you! Personally, I love the new Dictionary of Coffee by Bothy Threads. Have a look at the What's News on Sew & So site. That might give you inspiration. Or go for something different-cushion kit or 3D design?

Thanks to all the girls in the Cross Stitch Cafe! You're all fantastic! :A
  • Hugs to all of those who are down in the dumps or poorly, hope you all feel better soon.

Elliep kit with no budget, I wouldn't even know where to start. I would probably spend hours and hours going round and round websites.

All the pictures are lovley as always

Not really had any time for sewing this past week but have managed to pick it up tonight.

Off now to get ready for I'm a celebrity

  • Sweetcarer - sorry to hear you haven't been feeling too great the last couple of weeks. I know what you mean about cross stitch helping with depression, I too find it helpful to just lose myself in stitching, my mind doesn't seem to run at 300mph or jump from one thought to another before I have even had time to contemplate the thought!

I have finally finished stitching my Dad's Christmas stocking, I have saved up a few items which require 'making up' as I don't want my sewing machine left on the table for weeks whilst I finish Christmas bits. I managed to buy a large quantity of Mill Hill bead seeds from Ebay for about £7 and they work perfectly. I did manage to show my step mum yesterday when they visited and she said my Dad will love it, I hope so after all the hours it has taken me!

I will post pictures tomorrow as the lights will make it look a funny colour.
