Flat Eric - audio books, what a great idea! Is there a specific app you would recommend for them? I always watch tv when stitching but it needs to be something I don't need to concentrate on or need to keep looking at screen. I'm afraid I'm not able to do a race for life, but it's a great idea and I would be more than happy to sponsor or donate to it.

    Coxy11 - you're advent panel is fab!

Pm2326 - I'm glad your chart arrived and I think your mum is going to love it.

b_e_g. - I've looked at Pinterest a couple if times, but don't quite 'get it' yet.....maybe that's not a bad thing lol, I already have too many things gobbling my time. Hope your friend is doing a bit better and your aunt manages to trace her brother. It is heartbreaking watching the news reports. 12 Days looks fab! Hope you're pleased with it.

Ailsb - I have now sent you to Coventry for being so organised lol!.... Only joking, I am just jealous as I'm really struggling with ideas for people this year.

Louise - you're storming through your names! Well done!

As for me, I've done a bit more stitching on SB. Took it off frame which was a bit better but I've asked my mum to buy me the snap lap frame for Xmas as I need something with a bit more structure than just the aida on its own and the size of that frame will be much easier to work with, I think, than the wooden one I was using. Have decided though, to leave SB for the time being as I'm not happy with the thread. It knots, tangles and breaks when I'm separating the threads, it is more matte than DMC, the stitches don't look neat in and the white looks dirty when stitched. May come back to it later as I do love the picture but would use DMC threads instead. Bet everyone's breathing a sign of relief that the saga of Ayeshalush's SB is over for the time being:o.

I finished the reindeer kit free with WOCS and I'm just waiting on my threads arriving to start on the snowman chart linked to earlier in the thread. Sorry can't remember who posted it but thank you, I love it.

I've spent ages looking for a wedding sampler kit/chart tonight but can't find anything suitable. The person it's for finds xs 'twee' so it needs to be a contemporary design and not soppy or religious or too flowery. Think I may need to have a go at designing something myself.

Ayeshalush, is this too soppy? clicky or there's the mackintosh one Louise has done. Or you could adapt this one very modern :rotfl: clicky

Pleased to see that you got your chart. Looking forward to seeing your first update pics. Is there a date when this is needed?

    b_e_g

Ideally I would like it stitched and framed by the middle of April as that's mums birthday but if its not done by then it'll be her xmas present next year :rotfl::rotfl:

Hopefully I'll be able to make a start by 1st Dec and that should give me 4 months to make a decent attempt at it, its 16 x 20 on 14 hpi but may have to use 16 hpi once I see what's in my stash.

I had planned to start on a UFO after I finish panda (only have some backstitch left) so in order to hide elvis from mum when she visits I'll have to do both pieces at the same time and keep swapping them round....this could get complicated lol

Not too soppy, but not so keen on colours, love the keep calm one but don't think they would appreciate it lol! Will go have a look for Louise's. Thanks for the suggestions. I really didn't think it would be so difficult to find something lol.

ETA - Louise's sampler is beautiful and would be perfect for most couple's I know, but it's a bit too soppy for this couple. Such a shame as I do really love it!

I am leaning towards this one : http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/A-Good-Marriage-Chartpack-with-Threads__LIZ-K55.aspx

But would have preferred it in less muted colours.

  • Hi,everyone,
    B.e.g
12 days looks really good, the figures on bottom row are right near the edge when I graphed mine out,I thought I had counted wrong because I didn't think they would be so close, now I've seen it done I wasn't out at all.
    It just looks stunning.
I have got to stop going on Pinterest as hours can go pass and I find I haven't done a thing,it's so addictive
    Ayeshalush.
I stopped doing my Arabian lady for the same reason, the thread kept breaking and tangling and the knots, don't set me off!!!so I've put it in the back of a dark drawer!
Have made a start on Christmas pressies, the Australia ones have to be wrapped and ready to go pronto!not got all of them so got to get going.
The adverts on telly are putting on the pressure, heard my first c.carol on sat. In Nottingham ,couldn't believe it,much too early.
    Happy stitching everyone x

Thanks nmm, I do really love Louise's sampler but def too soppy for this couple. Thanks for link to Ruth_honey's A Good Marriage. It's good to see a real stitched version and not just photos on sites selling kits.

I recognise that! :) I stitched it for our 10th anniversary. If the bride-to-be thinks cross stitch is a bit twee, would it really be worth doing something so detailed? It might not be appreciated (grump grump to people who have no idea how much love and effort we put into our stitching!)
There's another nice Lizzie Kate wedding one. Much smaller, but nice and it's chart only, so you can chose your own colours/fabric. Can't for life of me think what it's called, but Sew and So sell it and I've stitched it-pic in my album.

I don't have the chart anymore, I'm afraid. My mum bought it off me to stitch for someone and I don't know if she still has it.
Didn't someone else in here stitch it too? Changed the colours and maybe tweaked a bit of the wording? Sorry, I have a thumping headache and I'm exhausted tonight, so brain is not functioning at all! :(

I stitched it combined with a blackstitch love chart that was from a magazine. A friend lent me her chart so I no longer have it but if you check my fliker pictures you will see what I did.
