I know it's not cross-stitchy, but I did promise a photo.
I may be able to get back to x-stitching now as well.
The finished baby...
All nicely lined too0 -
<---That's me gobsmacked that anyone could possibly get rid of all their stash
Any suggestions I made would be the same as those mentioned by FOS, I agree a kit would be best:T
Thankyou folks for the warm welcome - and for not laughing too much! I have purchased my first kit "christmas post" By Elizabeth Stewart Designs, just £2.50 unopened in one of our local charity shops. I am also very tempted with a beautiful polar bear kit on ebay - but think I will show it to dh as a xmas gift hint!
Once kids are in bed I am going to sew my first stitch in ... far too long! It's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0 -

It's stitching up quite quickly so I am optimistic that I will be able to finish it in time to make it and it's companion piece into stockings before Christmas so that I can give them as a pair to a couple of dear friends
I also sorted out some fabric from my stash for the back, lining and piping around the top. I found 2 possible pieces and would appreciate your opinions on which would look best.
Please ignore the shadows on all 3 photos and the lens cap on the 3rd - I was rushing and it shows

This is dark royal blue fabric with gold stars. The blue is exactly the same as the angel but I think it looks ok

This is cream fabric with a small gold holly design so perhaps more Christmassy?

I like the blue, but then I always prefer brighter colours. Either would look lovely though and the stocking will be a nice heirloom for someone. Will you add the date ?0 -

TMIF, gorgeous bag and all my favourite colours
Is it crochet?
It is, yeah. I found it in the Attic24 archives if you fancy a go... I taught myself from you-tube in February. (Her stuff is much more colourful mind).
Glad you like it - I LOVE IT
I suppose I should get back to x-stitch now though eh... stained glass (ergh) and a christmas card exchange (yay) await me.0 -
I got lost in a sea of crochet bunting, haha
My efforts are not that great, I've managed a small teddy, a purse/phone holder and about a dozen granny squares. All in cream aran supersoft wool as I got 4 balls of it and have no other colours :rotfl:

It's just rounds and rounds of trebles. (I did 45 in total, with 15 increasing ones)

I agree that if you have lost your stitching bug then kits are the way forward, stops you start piling your stash again but means you can do new projects to get you back into it.
Ive been stitching for about a year and I still mainly buy kits (mainly as presents), at least I know ive got the right amount of fabric and thread without going overboard!!0 -
Back from seeing Stewart Lee. He put the lights up for the encore but I didn't have my stitching on me so couldn't sneak a few sneaky stitches in :rotfl: Rather annoyingly we had someone sat behind us who laughed very loudly at almost everything. I so wanted to turn round and tell him to button it !
So bought two items in Lu$h and didn't get much change from £20. I used to love this shop but it doesn't hold my love anymore. Everything seems so expensiveI see that the 10% vouchers (that you used to get in the giftsets) can only be used up until the end of this month and there wasn't even a sniff of a freebie when I paid today. They always used to give you something.
I also paid full price for 3 threads in the sewing shop but it means if I can make up my mind, I can start the xmas exchange project tomorrow. I thought I had decided what I wanted to stitch but I won a christmas themed item on e^b7y and now I can't decide what I want to stitch!0 -
tmif - wow...it's beautiful!!! I love it :T How long did that take you to make?
pinknfluffy - Glad you found something pretty quick, let us know how you get on with it
Re. The Christmas Card exchange. I was holding off putting my name down to take part, and I'm glad I did because of getting the request to stitch 6 names for Christmas so things are a bit hectic and it wouldn't have felt right sending a card I had already stitched.
I will of course look forward to seeing everyone's cards in December :jCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219.
