  • B_e_g, my DH plays candy crush whilst I stitch, not sure whose addiction is strongest! :rotfl:

Here is the latest update on my Christmas stocking, the poinsettia was awful, 3 different reds, one of which was a combination of 2 other colours and 4 different greens, again 1 of which was a combination. Glad it's over now and enjoying stitching the carrot car.

HI all, sorry I haven't posted for a few days - things have been a bit crazy here.

Caroline[B - Wow what a lot of finished items, you've been really busy. I particularly like the coasters with the cupcakes and the owls. I hope you sell them and make lots of money for your charity.

FOS - Your angel stocking is coming along nicely. I really like the blue fabric as I think it matches so well. Having said that the cream is also really nice. What colour is the room that it will go in? Maybe this may help with the decision, the cream would be more neutral.

BEG - I've used those rub off's many years ago for cards and for scrap book pages. You need to make sure you use an even pressure when rubbing them off.

MOS - Your stocking is so detailed but you are doing really well with it I'm sure your Dad will be thrilled with it.

Louise - how kind of your Mum offering to get you the chart and fabric and even offer to pay for the framing for you. I think it so much better when you get something you really like and you'll enjoy stitching it so much.

Well I managed to win the auction on the magazine I was after just waiting to receive it now. Really pleased. I know I won't get the piece done for this year so I don't think I'll even start it. Have decided that I'm not going to put any added pressure on myself. I also won an auction for an almost completed Mary & Baby Jesus piece (will try to get a photo on shortly) this came with 16 full skeins of DMC and a spare piece of linen, it cost me £5 so pleased with it. The only thing is it didn't come with the pattern to finish the piece. However, a quick google and I've managed to find the chart which was a free design in 1999, so I need to print it off so that I can finish the piece.

I'm not sleeping very well at the moment, keep waking with night sweats (pleasant - not) and then can't get back to sleep. Can't manage to stitch much though as my eyes are still tired. We are off to Paris for a few days later today , doing a cheap break - Sun holidays for the accommodation, Tesco vouchers for the crossing and Disney tickets etc. Probably won't get to post for a few days so hope everyone has a good weekend.

Just visiting the Polstitches website and spotted a lovely design called 'Snow princess' by Joan Elliot. It was in Crosstitcher which I no longer get - does anyone know which issue it is?

If it's still in the shops I will buy it tomorrow, but if it's a back issue would anyone be willing to sell it please? :):):)

My plan is to stitch 12 JE ladies head and shoulders on one piece of fabric, one design for each month so I have been sorting through my charts

Looks like Issue 156 - found one that had sold on eBay.

FOS - Thanks for your comments on the fabric, I'm still looking at the polstitches site. I'm liking the 'Dawn Chorus' opalescent, it would make it look a bit like a castle in the clouds I think. :)

Ps - I love your stocking design, I think the cream fabric would look really nice

Mags_cat - I never remember ebay, thanks for the issue number. There is another up for sale which I will bid on tonight if there isn't anyone in the caf! who has one to sell :)

Ooh yes Dawn Chorus opalescent would look wonderful

Jo who owns Polstitches is very friendly and would I'm sure give you her opinion if you asked before you ordered.

I love her fabrics - as you probably already know:D
  • Had a spare 30 mins thought I would start on the yellow of Nativity and I don't think the colour is working (doesn't really stand out that much again the fabric). DH couldn't see where I had stitched. That was probably the nearest one I had that I thought was going to work. grrrr

Will catch up with you all later.

Hope you enjoy your break - it sounds as though you need it

The unfinished kit was a great bargain - the threads alone would have cost you more than you paid

Thank you for your thoughts on the fabric for the stocking - when it is hung the back doesn't really show so I don't think the room decor matters. I will probably make the final decision when I am making up the pair - the other one is mainly dark red so will have a different backing

Will have a practice first I think. If they don't work out they didn't cost a fortune.

    Enjoy Paris.
