Hi ladies.
Apologies in advance for length of post and going over old ground. I tried to keep up and post every couple of days but for one reason or another it didn't happen
Anyway,
FOS. What a brilliant idea to use a single thread when confetti stitching and stitching the X twice. I'll try and remember it for next time I need to do some.
Mrsmp. Nice stocking update.
Ruth. Welcome back. Hope your husband gets good news re his heart. My Dad has to see his cardiologist too this weekend, his heart rate keeps dropping to 40 for a few seconds every now and then. They may or may not do anything but best to get it seen to.
Coxy. Flower shop is coming along great.
Coffee&stitches. Nice progress pic. Look forward to seeing it progress across the fabric.
Ayeshalush. What a lovely little sampler!
You asked about how holding frames....I have a frame but I also have a stand to attach it to and I wouldn't be without it now. I have this one http://www.sewandso.co.uk/Products/Posilock-Floor-Stand__ELB-POSI.aspx The frame I have is an 'easy clip rotating frame' and I also use a 'helping hand' (both sold on the site I linked to.
Though before I got the stand I used to lean the frame on the edge of one of those tv table type thingies that I stood in front of me. That way it's supported and you have both hands free to stitch.
MrsTM. Cute little fox.
Rhaben. Nice progress on Reindeer, can't wait to see it made up.
PM2326. Nice update on Panda.
Nmm. Nice update on BD.
MOS. Nice update, really like the design. Glad the threads didn't get ruined and washed ok.
Firefly. Lovely finished sampler.
As for me. Rose Garden is coming along nicely, I'm enjoying it alot.
Had to take hubby to train station this morning so popped into HC and got the beads to finish Santa & Snowman. Hubby was keen for me to go seeing as I was passing, saves him standing around for ages while I umm and arr over the size of the beads :rotfl::heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -

I would love to do the nativity 'A baby' etc that someone put up, but next year, not this year, no time at the moment. I have lost track of who it was that posted it, sorry.
I have loved reading everyone's updates over the last few weeks and seeing pictures of what you are all doing. I'm going to take a picture at the end of the week of my eagle to show what I've done. You are all helping keep me on track with getting on with it. Thank you to everyone.0 -
My mum was asking what I would like for Christmas and I mentioned this chart. She is now going to buy me the chart and fabric (£28:eek:) and even said she will pay for it to be framed when I finish it :T:T I've not to give it away though, it's to go on my own wall (that was my intention anyway)
Not 100% sure about spending all that on a piece of fabric though, I'm going to have a look round and see if there is a different one which will still look nice, preferably under £20.
No stitching today, too busyWatched Wentworth tonight while I did some work on the computer - I cried!
What a lovely thought by your Mum.
The cut size of the fabric on the s&s site is much bigger than you need.
Using their measurements of the design size I think you need a piece 21 x 27 which allows 3inches all round for framing.
Polstitches hand dyed fabrics come in pieces 25 x 27 which cost £21.75 for jobelan, £22.75 for Lugana or £25 for linen (cashel or belfast, plain or opalescent).
28 count Cashel opalescent hand dyed linen would be stunning and worth £25 IMHO
16 count aida piece 20 x 27 is only £17.75 so well within your budget.
There is a lot of blank fabric on this design so I think you would see the benefit of hand dyed fabric At first glance I thought Avalon might work but the best thing is to use a fabric viewer
Can't wait to see your progress pics0 -
Had a couple of days finishing W I P' s
Poppy picture is complete. Will take photo when ironed.
Finished a little peacock to go in a handbag mirror.
Going to spend some time this afternoon making everything up including framing dd' s Christmas present and a bookmark for Mum.
I love cross stitching but really hate the finishing offI am the same with knitting. Finished a humpty dumpty months ago, bought the stuffing but it is still in bits. That is why I love making scarves, just a few ends to run in :rotfl:
I've made a start on my exchange piece but don't know what to start next. I bought a Lemmy Kilminster chart from etsy but can't print off the chart until I go back to work. Got the fabric and it only uses four colours of thread from my stash but can't work off the pdf on my phone!Cross Stitch Cafe Member Number 44:rudolf:Cross Stitch Is For Life Not Just For Christmas :rudolf:0 -
I know the feeling! I have spent the last two evenings organising my threads, including the ones I bought in the charity shop. They were all Anchor, so I have now a list of the threads I have and the DMC equivalent numbers. Unfortunately I also have a list of which colours I don't have! I must actually do some stitching at some point, after all that is the point of all this.
I got all my jobs done this morning, after I had finished browsing, and have been browsing some more and 'managed' to accidentally buy this!

These designs are very similar to the gardening one I am doing at the moment and I love the way they look when they are finished. Now to confess to DH my sins! :rotfl:0 -
Finally remembered to photo the progress on my latest Shepherds Bush stocking. It's stitching up quite quickly so I am optimistic that I will be able to finish it in time to make it and it's companion piece into stockings before Christmas so that I can give them as a pair to a couple of dear friends
I also sorted out some fabric from my stash for the back, lining and piping around the top. I found 2 possible pieces and would appreciate your opinions on which would look best.
Please ignore the shadows on all 3 photos and the lens cap on the 3rd - I was rushing and it shows

This is dark royal blue fabric with gold stars. The blue is exactly the same as the angel but I think it looks ok

This is cream fabric with a small gold holly design so perhaps more Christmassy?

My choice would be the cream material, the blue is lovely but too close in colour, if that makes any sense?0 -
These are the participants so far.

Hiya,
Hubby took all my photos today and I have uploaded them all onto my selling page on Facebook (sort of hoping they don't sell though as I don't fancy having to remake everything for the charity craft sale...lol)
Anyway, there is loads of photos so if anyone wants a nosy this is the link...

Evening everyone
fos - I like both fabrics but if I had to choose one I will plump for the cream one maybe - oh I don't know - they both work don't they :rotfl::rotfl: sorry
Managed to get the last of the black stitching of Nativity finished tonight so I'll move on to the yellow tomorrow.
Spotted these rub on transfers in HB this morning. Don't know how useful or effective they will be but at 12p a sheet I thought I would give them a go. I got about six sheets - they had other designs.
Well I'm feeling quite tired tonight so I think it will be a bit of tv and candy crush.
Take care everyone
