Ohh...I got an email on fb from someone I work with - she has asked if I would be able to do some stitching for her. I said yes, what would she like...and it's 6(!)of the 'name in a frame' designs that I posted in my FB album...by Christmas
Ordinarily that wouldn't be a problem, I'm just thinking of the amount of my own stitching I still have to get done as well
I'm thinking 6x4 may be an acceptable size?, and 7x5 for the two longer names, give me a chance of getting it done. I'm just waiting to hear back about colour schemes and designs.
No sleeping between now and Xmas for you then lol! Being asked to stitch for your colleague is a really nice compliment.

Hi again everyone,
Thank you for the replies regarding buying threads separately or all in one go. I've been stitching for 20 years but started off with kits (some of which I still have to do ) but in the past few years I've moved to buying charts and threads separately. I would still need storage (I have one gold system binder and stitchbows) so would convert to boxes I think. Decisions decisions......
On a brighter note I have been back stitching like mad to get flower shop finished. I still have a little cross stitching to do and then it will be ready to take to the framers. He hasn't phoned yet about santas clothes - cheeky beggar asked if I wanted it for a specific date - so the plan is to collect and take it flower shop in on the same day.
nmm - love the peekaboo of your design! It looks amazing. I too am weljel of your thread collection.
m_o_s - the stocking is coming on great, I love the colours. Sorry to hear about your caravan, hope you get it sorted soon.
pm2326 - the panda looks wonderful. Good idea to break up your stitching with some backstitch, it makes it come alive.
firefly369 - the birth sampler is gorgeous. I hope they appreciate your hard work. The last stitchy gift I gave (wedding sampler to SIL) didn't get a mention AT ALL and I haven't seen it on display since
Ailsb - I am very guilty of opening my storage table and getting out my stash of kits/charts/threads, admiring them, and then lovingly putting them back again. DH thinks I'm bonkers :rotfl:
Will be an early bath for me tonight, pjs on and more flower shop stitching.
Have a good evening everyone.

You NEED the storage boxes and pretty threads to go inside them. Decision made, blame me:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

It's always a pity when you feel your hard work isn't appreciated. I stitched a Rennie Mackintosh sampler for a cousins wedding in July - still no thank you cardCross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. Yes, they were very complimentary. I didn't have time to frame it so they are sending it to a professional framer so they can hang it on the nursery wall. I haven't done many samplers for births or weddings before and if it hadn't been appreciated it probably would have been the only one.
nmm - I have serious stash envy. They all look so pretty. I am just in the process of converting mine from stitch bows to bobbins. I will be asking Santa for some of the plastic boxes you ladies posted recently.:xmassmile
MOS - Sorry to hear about the damage to your caravan. I hope it is repairable.
Louise - 6 Names in frames!!!! OMG I was wetting myself about doing two before Xmas.
afm. Started another Xmas card this afternoon while watching Downton. Its nice to have some quick finishes to get me back into the swing of it.0 -
Disaster alert!!!!!
I got up to put the dinner on and whilst I was gone my naughty doggie decided to drink my tea and has spilt it everywhere including over all my threads that I had next to me (about 25), would it be ok to cry now or shall I leave it and see how they dry out! :mad:0 -
This is where I am at as of today, might slow down a bit after my doggie disaster!

Tbh i'd have a little bit of a cry, then see what they're like. Worst comes to worst you'll have to shell out for some new threads.0 -
Evening ladies
To all those considering asking santa for the full threads, I would say go for it!
I ordered mine from Leisurecraft about 2 years ago and it's the best thing I've done. I don't have a fancy storage system, I simply left them in the box they came in, they arrived in number order and I simply flick through until I find the colour I'm looking for.
I also have an old roses tin full of spares, as everytime I order replacements I buy them in bulk and get a few extra's to keep as stock.
It's so much easier if you prefer to do charts as you just pick up the chart, aida and get stitching!
I'm doing a kit at the minute but my next stitch is going to be a HAED and I already know I have most of the threads!0 -
Quick question for you lovely ladies
Does anyone have the dmc plastic storage box? I bought 2 hemline ones and they came with card bobbins which fit perfectly as you'd expect, but my new threads are on dmc bobbins and they are slightly too tall. Can someone tell me the height of the dmc box where the bobbins go? Thank you :T
