It is so hard to put down when you are enjoying it. Wonder how many of us say "just going to finish this colour/row/section"...lol

    Guilty!!:o:D

No stitching for me tonight :( - didn't sleep at all last night, ended up getting up and scrubbing the fridge at 5am  got in from work just before 10, been doing some washing and sorting some things out and just about to head to bed.

Tomorrow I need to decide whether to stitch or get some of those card pieces made up....

Hi all, sorry for late post.

nmm - BD is looking good, he's almost able to look back at us.

Pm2326 - the backstitch really sets it off.

Firefly - glad you managed to get your sampler finished, it's lovely.

On the frame question, I use a Siesta rotating tapestry frame. I do find it heavy but tend to prop the frame on cushions so I can work without holding it.

Quick question - I missed an ebay sale for a Mary Hickmott Nativity kit and I'm now watching a Mary Hickmott New Stitches no. 127. Before I put a bid in does anyone on here have this chart that they would like to sell. If so happy to go via the fb page or via ebay. Just thought I'd ask here just in case.

Yesterday was very busy and frustrating with no time at all for stitching :( I didn't eat tea till gone 8pm so it was gone 9pm before I could sit down and relax. I wanted to stitch but was simply too tired and headachey so thought it best to leave for another night. I watched channel 5 at 9pm, shoplifters and proud  and counted down the time till it finished so I could go up to bed. I've not had the best night's sleep with me wondering in the middle of the night if the cat had lost a mouse in the bedroom ! as he was being a bit too attentive at the table with all our toiletries on.

I enjoyed stitching last week when I was on hols and staying up late to do so although I made a few mistakes so may be stitching without drinking might be the best plan!

Have a good day all :T

    Morning all,

Sorry I haven't posted in a few days. Working everyday this week so will post in full later.

Just a quick question: I printed off a list of the 447 DMC colours and ticked back those I already have. There are 349 that I don't have :rotfl:

Is it better/cheaper to buy a complete set (have seen one for £179 delivered) rather than try to complete my set individually?

Coxy - I've been asking myself the same question about buying a full set. My concern is that if I invest in a full set would there be some colours I'd never use, such as yellows and pinks. I think I'm going to give a list of the colours I haven't got but like to family for Christmas and either ask them to buy off the list (possibly giving them links to where to get the best value) or ask for money so that I can but them myslef after Christmas.

Sorry I know this doesn't answer your question but thought I'd throw another option in.

I've been stitching for decades and am lucky enough to have built up a full set of DMC. However because of the way I store leftover threads (on numbered thread cards) I know that there are some colours I have never used - not many but probably about 25 of the total. 444 is one I know I've never used - it's a particularly bright chrome yellow and 307 is another bright yellow (in between 2 reds in the numbering sequence). I believe there is a price increase in the offing so now would be a good time to increase your stash of threads.

The cheapest price I've seen recently is £135 plus postage (£12) for a full set on bobbins from leisurecraft in tewkesbury which works out to around 33p per colour.
  • Oh no, I absolutely love that box......any ideas on how I can persuade DH it is essential? :D

Ooh that's a tough call. How do you store your stitchy stuff at the moment? Is it lying around getting damaged/lost? Is it a danger to pets and children if not safely stored in a suitable wooden box? :D
