  • Interesting chat about selling cross stitch cards, pictures etc. for me it would become a chore rather than a pleasure, I stitch bits for friends/family.

Yesterday's 15 min walk with my dogs has left me with the most horrendous pains in my arms and legs so there won't be anything being done today except for a bit of stitching if my arms allow.

Eldest DD has aid she will Hoover and dust for me, think it must have been the silly walk I did trying to make it to the kettle for a cuppa! :rotfl: DH at work today, he will have done nearly 60 hours by the time he finishes today and I feel awful as I am always moaning about feeling so achy and tired and he has to work stupid hours to make up for me not being able to work!

Hoping to get the 'planting table' of Dad's Christmas stocking finished today and then it feels like I am on the home straight :D

So annoyed last night - I went through 3 pages working on replies and lost the lost when I clicked a look and it used the tab I had for my reply to open it in.

Start again (saving as I go!)

I read back to my last post, and have cheered myself up at the thought I get to start a new piece today - will start it once the kids go to bed :j

tricksie - the lesbian !!!!!! comment did make me laugh...that was an unexpected episode! I used to sneak the tv on during the night and watch the original, I think I was only about 10 or 11 at the time - I certainly don't remember it having that sort of thing :rotfl:

Louise - come on fess up - how long do you spend stitching and is your house a tip :rotfl:I love the dummy and nappy pin design, so cute!

LMAO :rotfl: I do the school run, then sort the house till lunchtime ( so no tip haha). Then I do paperwork and can sometimes get a stitchy hour before collecting the kids from school. Then it's homework, dinners and I do voluntary work some evenings so I stitch between 2-3 hours at night while watching tv. I love Fridays when we have no plans on a Sat, because I stay up late stitching in bed, watching a DVD when everyone else is asleep, so an extra 2 hours there for me :T

nmm- those threads are such a good buy, bet you can't wait fr the postie :j

Ruth_honey - Glad to see you posting on here, and really sorry to hear about your hubby :( Although you aren't taking part in the card ex, I still have the lovely one you sent me last year and it will be out on display again when my decs go up :D

b_e_g - Glad your fabric is here, look forward to seeing your progress :j We had a lovely time away, would have liked it to be longer but my Mum could only babysit two days as she had to go back to work.

Ailsb - please don't apologise for writing multiple posts or you will make me feel guilty for doing the same :p:D The more posts the better in my opinion :j

Coffeeandstitches - Wow you have a lot ahead of you :D I have completed a couple of HAEDs and the feeling of achievement at the end is brilliant :T (reminds me I have 3 pages to complete on another and I should really get back to it):o

Ayeshalush - I saw that chart with the magazine and barely paid it much attention as samplers aren't my thing, but looking at yours it looks really pretty and I've changed my mind about it :T

I'm not sure my DH would take the risk of asking me to choose between him and my love of xs :D

Good point, well made - don't think mine would either :rotfl:

Mrs TM - that little fox is adorable :)

nmm - interesting to see from your link how much money can be made from selling large cards as opposed to pictures :T (I personally wouldn't spend that much on a card for anyone :o)

Tricksie, I never thought of one of those small boxes for my WIP, I will add one when I buy the extra boxes I need.

What boxes are those? I think I have missed a post or link somewhere :o

When I sort my threads for the project I have one of the small organised boxes which is usually big enough for just the threads I need.

    Like this one

Aha - found the post I was looking for. Cute box, but when I put my threads together for a project, I used the 'holes punched in card' method. I have so many WIP's I would be forever raking boxes to find the bobbins :rotfl:

However, when I clicked that link, there was an interesting 'things which may also interest you' section at the bottom.....

  • Afternoon all

Coffee - lovely update. That's pretty good progress for a month. Love the finished pic btw.

Ayeshalush - love your sampler. The colours are beautiful. Hope you manage some stitching this afternoon.

Mrs_T_M - aw little foxy is so cute. I have never tried cross stitching onto anything else before. Must give it a go sometime.

Maisie - sounds as though you have had a real busy time with all that decorating. Must agree that when you do one room it makes the rest of the house shabby and in desperate need of doing too. This is the fabric I used for Nativity. I don't know what colour you were looking for but this isn't white - it's more of an off-white to light cream and has silver sparkly bits in. It is really firm which might be a good point for your doorstop. I'm finding it lovely to work with. I think that this is more sparkly than some standard aida I bought last year. Hth.

winnie - sorry I can't help with the free hand embroidery. Is it something you are going to try?

Louise - I tend to use the 'holes punched in card' method for storing threads for current project and/or these plastic bags from Ikea. They are lovely and strong and get reused several times. Depending on what I am stitching the larger bags usually hold chart/scissors/thread etc. Love the wooden storage cabinet.

Update on Nativity - almost completed the border (got about 30 mins before I go out - that should be enough time to finish it). Bought another skein of black this morning as I just had a feeling I would run out tomorrow when the shop would be closed and that wouldn't do :D.

Well that's all for now. Looking forward to Strictly and XFactor later.

    Take care everyone

Mrs_T_M love your fox, so cute!

CoffeeandStitches How much? I know that time needs to be included in price when selling crafted items, but seriously, who would be willing to pay that unless it was a highly personalised commissioned piece?!

nmm I am so jealous of your thread purchase. One day, hopefully lol.:D

mos Hope you're not too sore to stitch.

Louise I wondered how you all remembered who and what to reply to everyone - didn't think of having thread open on two tabs. Thank you. :o:D. It was the colours that drew me to the sampler, and the fact that it was a small project. Really pleased with it. Going to frame it and put it in craft room.

Last night I tried to stitch with the metallic threads that came free with WOCS. What a nightmare! I knew if I stuck at it I would manage but also knew I was going to hate every minute of it so gave that up as a bad idea! What to start on now? It's either going to this:

Or, hope you don't mind b_e_g but I bought a Sleeping Beauty kit from ebay as I loved yours so much.:o

Not sure which one to do first.

Beg - That's great thank you. I will go and measure how much I need and hopefully it will be enough so I can order it.

I got another xmas card done. It was one of the freebie penguin ones so didn't take too long but to be honest I am not sure I like it that much as the lettering seems a bit wishy washy:(

Have two projects I must start and finish now that we are in mid October which is the xmas stockings for the boys and the penguin doorstop.
