Flat mate hogging the bloody washing machine!

Ok, I know what the answer is before I write this. But just thought I'd vent :rotfl:

Almost every day, I wake up and the washing machine/dryer is going, with my flat mates stuff in it. I come home from work, its on. I go to bed, its on.

It wouldn't be so bad, but he's a bloody anti fashion hippy who wears his dads old clothes because he hates clothes shopping, and they're all horrible old clothes.

It's driving me insane - I've barely been able to use the thing twice in the last two weeks, and once was because I came home at lunch just to use it... And even then I got home from work to find he had dumped my clothes on my bed and had his in washing AGAIN.

I don't want to sound like I'm moaning at him for washing his hippy clothes 3 times a day, but if this carries on I'm going to set fire to them. Or him. :(

    Who pays the electricity bills?

Start reading the meter when you leave home in the morning and when you get back?

Dryers cost a fortune to run and he needs to pay extra for his high usage.

Does he have a dirty job? I've never encountered a single person who needs to do laundry every single day. Is he washing and drying one garment at a time?

Still, you know what you need to do, and it doesn't have to be confrontational. Work out a rota or something.

And have you spoken to him about it? Perhaps a rota...you get the washing machine Mon/Wed/Fri and he gets the other days.

Beats me how a single person can get through three loads of washing a day btw. Is he doing full loads or one shirt at a time? It must be costing you a fortune in electricity.

Yeah, this was the answer I already knew about :T

I'd have preferred ideas of devious ways I could relieve my stress though :rotfl:

No - he has the cleanest job in the world! I'm genuinely clueless about what on earth he's doing, sometimes I'm sure he's just washing the same clothes over and over again. I used to use it about twice a week and was fine so I'm pretty amazed.

I pay the electric bill, so ill be putting up his rent if it goes up substantially!

Three times a day! How often does he change? I'm not surprised you're annoyed. Any chance of you getting up earlier than him?

Failing that, how about a rota for the use of the machine?
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!

He changes... Three times a day! Starting with his work clothes, then into his gym clothes, then into casual lounge clothes. I can't really get up earlier than him. My work pattern is a couple of hours later than him (he does 8-4, I do 10-6 but often much later) so it would mess my sleep pattern up :/
  • He is a hippie that washes his clothes?? That is a first! LOL

Nothing to advise, just wanted to say your username made me smile - probably the sheer randomness! :p
