Flat mate hogging the bloody washing machine!

Why not just wash underwear and bedding at 60 and wash your clothes at 30c? There is no need to wash something like a t-shirt at 60c.
.
Because I only do one wash a week for myself and so everything (towels, underwear and outer clothes apart from jeans) goes in together at 60 degrees.
I obviously do a separate wash for bedding at 60 degrees and another wash for my husband at 60 degrees with everything for him except jeans.
Yes, the jeans could be washed at a lower temperature but as they are not washed very often I prefer to do it at 60.0 -
Washer/dryers are a PITA and I wouldn't give them house-room. They can only dry a half-load at a time, and the flat-mate is likely not doing that so a full load will take hours and hours to dry. And it's summer so there's really no excuse not to line-dry even if that means hanging things up indoors.
I'm glad the OP got it off his/her chest this morning! Maybe he'll be a bit more considerate in future. Here's hoping0 -
Is it just me who still wants to know why exactly he has the washing machine going so often?
I've got two toddlers, and I sure don't use the washing machine that often.Pink Sproglettes born 2008 and 2010
Mortgages (End 2017) - £180,235.03
(End 2021) - £131,215.25 DID IT!!!
(End 2022) - Target £116,213.810 -
Is it only me who wants to know the make & model of this washing machine? If I put mine through that amount of use it would have given up the ghost by now!0

Don't you wash yours and husband's clothes together? I think you are maybe a bit hung up on bacteria. Unless you are immunocompromised in which case you are right to be cautious, but if not are you aware of how many bacteria colonise your body already? Plenty of which we live in a symbiotic relationship with.0 -

The one wash a week thing makes sense I guess but then don't you separate out colours? Like for instance I have pale pink or beige tops that if I put in with my jeans or dark stuff the colours could get damaged.
I wash mine & my husbands stuff together in groups of colours, and then shove all underwear in on separate high temp wash.0 -

Don't be so silly - I've rarely heard of flat sharers doing separate loads of washing!0 -

Why "obviously"?0 -

In contrast I've flat or house-shared for decades in the past and have never mixed my laundry with anyone else's that I've lived with. I think it's a disinclination to handle other people's smalls or have anyone else handle mine. I dunno, but whatever it is, it isn't silly. Just different to you.0
